    B-47 or XB-70 edit next?
Also sorry for the audio glitch at the very start of the video, the B-58 flyby audio I used was being very difficult

One of the most beautiful aircraft ever created. I remember seeing them at Grissom AFB outside of Peru, Indiana. When I was just a little kid.

I pass by Grissom all the time, now all they fly are KC-135s

I remember seeing two B-58s banking in formation at low altitude near Houston in the 60s. Even though I was a little kid, I thought "Wow. Those are some awesome looking aircraft."

I have a aeronautical engineer friend who worked on Hustler design, among several other aircraft he is connected to. When he talks about his experiences, it is very obvious B-58 was by far his favorite.

I want to be an aeronautical engineer at Lockheed, and make some really cool aircraft, but I assume by the time I get there it will just be unmanned aircraft.

On a hot summer night in the late 1950s one of these B 58s did a aupersonic overflight of the city where i lived as a little boy.....They were playing with the local NIKE anti-aircraft defenses if my memory serves me right. Nothing and then a sudden rush with a tremendous boom! that rattled the windows and made the wall shake!!!! The crack of doom, and believe me, we were all scared blue of nuclear oblivion.......

I do this for the stories of the airplane, and the people who saw it, and you gave me a great story! :D

Nicely done video.....a tribute to the human skill that went into the design construction testing and then operation of this amazing airplane. I believe it still holds some records for performance.

Gorgeous Delta Wing Jet. I think it had a part in the 60's film Fail Safe as one of the bombers targeting Moscow during the Cold War nuclear conflict scenario. Extraordinary plane.

Swap out that pod for a rocket and release it at Mach 2 and 60,000 feet and what a fabulous air launch to orbit vehicle it could be.

What a shame there isn't one of these flying somewhere in the world today ... it's such a striking looking aircraft.

I agree but there probably is a top secret aircraft already made or in the works that is similar to those planes. think about it, few people in the 19s and 60s probably knew about the secret planes (like the sr71, avrocar saucer and XB70 that we know about now) until they were publicly announced. modern versions of those planes are probably what a lot of ufo sightings probably are. experimental aircraft and demons)

You know, this was a challenging aircraft to pilot. Primitive compared to the control refinements today, it took an exceptional pilot to safely fly this aircraft, and the stress must have been unthinkable. I bet the guy would come back soaked in sweat, and after debriefing a hot shower and the bunk!!! And the navigator also had to be real focused, using radar and charts to guide the aircraft. Not like to day with inertial nav and GPS.
These crews were the best ot the best of a great Air Force.

The B-58 is still faster than a B-1B Lancer! The Lancer would today be left in the 58's jet wake!

The B-1A would have put up a fair race if it was still a thing.

This was one sexy aircraft. Too bad it weighed a lot and sucked fuel like it was going out of style. Even the bombs were really heavy back then. This wonderful design was just a few years early because composite technology and weight reduction initiatives were just on the drawing board. Plus consider flight control computers would have reduced the need for a 3 man crew. And not to mention much more efficient engines. The B1-B is its legacy I would say. Still.... a very sexy airplane.
