Thanks, I generally try to keep my guides as short as I can because one its easy to watch a shorter guide, and two by keeping it short I avoid overexplaining/overcomplicating things...in most cases
Lv.90 white mage main - so it also helps for players to use the chosen character for a while.. stick to it.... give every class atleast a month for muscle memory. In the past i would fluctuate from warrior to red mage to bard - all within a week 😮 its to much. So stick to one class and focus on that for a while. Healer - general tips The tank is the most important character you need to worry about; even if all dps are dead dw get the tank ontop first and then revive the others. Dont panic heal; focus on strategy such as witholding the abilities for those EMERGENCIES Get the LB for a healer 😂 seriously youd be surprised. So white mage in particular goes through MP fast.. know the combos to mitigate through mp cost As a healer; levelling... you NEED to have maxed armour and staff because the higher your stats the better performances for the team; ive been in a lv.41 dungeon with the healer wearing lv.20 stuff and then it seemed they got 1x shot everytime. It doesnt matter upto lv.30 so much but past this it should.
I really didn’t like healing as I leveled white mage to 44 but then I tried astrologian and it changed my view on the class. It’s very satisfying keeping ur team going with heals, dmg buffs and barriers but it does take practice and skill and you definitely can’t be lazy if u want to survive. So far AST is my main healer but I just unlocked sage so I’ll try the others
WHM is probably the worst low level healer in terms of tools available and player engagement. It picks up a lot after level 52 when you start getting Lily heals and oGCDs, but it never gets to the sheer level of plate spinning that AST does.
I gave a try to SGE, and decided to do it slow and do some low level dungeons. As it happens, it is quite tricky to play SGE at lower level, because you don't have access to your best heals and keeping the tank alive in the 50-60 level braket can be a challenge.
Nah .. even level 20 content a Sage can rawk it ... never had a problem with sage no matter the content (only issues that pop up is because of dumb ass XBOX LAG .... ya alot of the time xbox lags ... no stuttering but even on 2.5tb connection internet its signal latency sucks not to meantion it takes xbox 3x as long to load every zone .. yes timed it 3x longer then pc and ps ) but that aside Sage is best for player friendly healer .... just need to level up to unlock it
Thanks for the guide! I've mained healer for four years but always been a very casual player and found myself taking a break for the last year. I've returned this week to finish EW in preparation for DT, but I've felt very rusty and out of my element. I want to make sure I'm carrying my weight and being as much of a help to my team rather than a hindrance.
On healer damage: my first MMO was wow, quit years ago and eventually tried FF healing. Tried wow recently for that nostalgia, did one dungeon and tried to deal damage the first few fights in the first dungeon and...ran out of mana soooo fast. And also had to heal very reactively. Immediately stopped and went back to FF lol
Is there no other way to heal the injured party member other than CLICKING him in the party window ? Do you have mouseover skills to auto cast heal on where ure mouse is ?
There are mouseover macros you can make or you can just bind buttons to target specific party slots. Personally I just manually click because you don't do all that much spot healing.
I use to main healer in WoW so when I found a home in 14 looked for a replacement. /ac Cure is an example. Google that and you will find the chained version that heals mouseover, your target or you. That being said, the pace is such that you can get away with click and cast. Plus you get the benefits of spell queueing. I still use mouseover. Too many years doing it I feel weird clicking on frames.
Welp, i dont like tip 4, i better take 10 extra sec than greed and do everything again from the begining. I've been in that situation so many time now, in raid, in dungeon with big pull (especially with WHM)
Most of the time you don't have to heal, even on the largest pulls. You can easily heal and many hands into the later game have instant big heals to give out and can work this way, even sch and sage. Whm has instant ogcd full heal, benediction. Whm holy is the strongest for pulls and has a stun so you can grant Regen and medica 2 or such in-between. That's what I enjoy as healer
It's fine to be more careful, especially if you're till getting comfortable with healing, there's no need to instantly adopt a "50% or no heals" mentality or anything like that. Just trim, maybe record your gameplay if it helps to watch it back and analyse your healing, ask yourself "Did I have to cast that heal? Could I have used a different one or waited for the next big heal and cast dps instead?". Healer optimisation is largely experience based and it's fine to take your time over, I'd also advise watching tank guides (maybe playing tanks) to get a better idea of what they're abilities do, what the icons look like and your tank's thought process to better coordinate your healing.
When I heal and am in a lull where I can do damage, I look for trash that is almost dead and take a shot at them. If there are 5 trash mobs pounding on the tank and one is almost dead, if I can kill that mob I have just reduced the incoming damage the tank is getting by 20%. That is every bit as effective at keeping the tank alive as doing more healing and depleting my mana pool faster.
7:25 how many times has any "instant" action gone on cooldown but the target still dies? Lol. FF14 servers prioritize incoming damage over any recieved actions, being heals and tank Invuls included. Actions in FF14 resolve after the animation for it is done, which are quite a few nanoseconds. Unlike FF11 servers where the action is actually instant before its animation is finished.
Nice guide. Short, sweet, to the point and covered all of the essentials to get someone thinking about the right things.

was in LV40s dungeon with healer still having LV20-ish gear. Devs seriously need to put iLV requirement on lower LV dungeons too.

Man gave up before the awesome power of holy
@@MatsuzoSFast is only played spinning if you're trying to use all the ogcds at once
Rockin sage and sch i guess their barriers stack

I was initially terrified of healing, until I finally got the hang of using Sage and Astrologian, and they're now two of my favorite classes.
I am the worst healer of all time. :P
Great video, I would reccomend this to any healer just starting out in higher end content.
Thanks

Ever get those parties where you're second on the aggro table as the healer?

Playing healer is complicated.... if you are a SCH. :D
Tbh, of the current healers we have in EW, i love SCH the most

I binded target 2 to Q, 3 to E, and player 4 to R. That’s good enough for all light party content
I use to main healer in WoW so when I found a home in 14 looked for a replacement. /ac Cure is an example. Google that and you will find the chained version that heals mouseover, your target or you. Or instead of all the confusion just play Sage .. its the perfect blend of both
literally deleted cure 1 from my cross bar (bc of aforementioned stuff and it cluttered my ui)
Good luck with Sastasha in roulettes.

You may not like it, but this is peak healer performance. ;)

healing action/spell is such nonsense
