ahh shit, i just realised i'm with you there..
I always watch his videos right before a new season or a big update. He always gives such great information.
As a strictly solo player, having a follower character is a great feature that I loved in D3 that I’m glad is making a comeback in what looks like a much deeper way.
I really love your high-level overviews / 101s. They're completely spoiler-free in terms of other aspects of the game, and are exactly what I need to start the expansion informed, but still get to experience everything on my own. Not showing any gameplay in these videos really ties into that, since I don't want to see too much of Nahantu beforehand, for instance. So, thanks for that!

Between Season 5 and Season 6, Raxx has been the definition of quality over content, unlike other creators lmao
I think the party leader thing was mentioned in a campfire stream but clarified later that everyone only gets reinforcement in parties.
That's a relief. The party leader getting special treatment for combat performance above everyone else would've been such a ridiculous mechanic to put into the game.
Great guide. Playing after launch and one small addition. You cannot get the mercs right away. Just follow the campaign and you will unlock the first one, and as soonas one is unlocked you can then do the side quests for each of the other follwers

Finally my mercenary question answered. It's similar to the D3 follower system.

I really worry for some of you people. Like, yeah, it's cool right NOW. But if you have so much screw-off time at work, USUALLY that means you're at risk for termination as there isn't enough work for you to do. Just throwing it out there man. I wish you the best

Same. Have a lot of "crew off" time in my job and not getting terminated. My name is a clue as to why.
So a while back, I believe during one of the campfires or initial reveal of VoH, they discussed the mercenaries and how you could essentially "sacrifice" them like the necromancer book of the dead to gain buffs for yourself rather than having a mercenary. Was that feature scrapped? I've not seen any of the content creators or guides mentioning it being a thing anymore. I'm one of the people that has very little interest in the mercenaries as I'm not a fan of "pets" in ARPGs. It would be a real bummer if they went back on their original plan and mercenaries are now basically mandatory or you are willfully gimping yourself.
Great guide as always! Think it would look better to do a short list in editor or word instead of paint though

Mercs are the ones I had the most concern about for this expansion since the wife and I play together until we reach max level. So in my case, my Merc won't even get to be used until we hit 60. So, this is going to be interesting how to use the reinforcement if you're not even using the leveling until then. Might have to rethink our leveling strategy (she will not be happy if we have to play solo) lol

Wait so mercenaries are not available in groups? Only the reinforcements? I'm a bit dissapointed since I really liked mercs in d2 and I really like to play in a group of friends so it would be really cool to have both

Seems Blizzard doesn't like the extra power D2 mercs provided. So the treat them like utility items like pre ROS D3. Very dissapointed.

What can you barter for with a merc that you can't just get easily somewhere else? Is this valuable stuff, or crap like what you get from a weapons dealer?
How would you rank a Mercenary's contribution? Nearly useless? 30% of your overall capability? If you don't use one, are you losing out big time?
When you choose a merch skill for reinforcement, does it come with improvement if I bought it along their skill tree, or is it always a basic one?

Yes campaign can be skipped to start expansion campaign.

Raxx is the reason we got something decent. Im going to campaign level with the SB. I might even try from the beginning to hear the dialogue. So much to do but first ill hit the eternal, run to new area get the new altars so all the renown moves over.

how do you access the skill tree for Mercs? I go to their skill tree and theres no tree, i just have available skill points sitting there with no tree to put it on. Shift M puts me in a blank Skill tree or their rapport.

I don't understand why you would lose your mercenary if you play with friends. So are we better off playing this season solo??
The mercenary is there to act as ai friend. It’s not there to act as just additional dps. You’ll get more xp in a group and another player is going to do much more damage than a mercenary.
@Knova_20 Right i don't expect them to add alot of damage, but their passive buffs look to be pretty effective. Yes playing with a friend adds dps, but the game also scales enemy health to additional party members.

Funny right they give a raid we can't play solo but they give us mercs we can't use with friends 😂😂... Still hyped for tomorrow but its kinda dumb I can't use my merc while playing with my buddy.. Especially as a minion necro thats just 1 extra body to do my bidding lol.

Paid for the expansion and can't get in. Blocked. What a rip off. I paid several months ago and now I can't get in. Got the tiger mount when playing the original but now can't get in and this was after not being able to start last night. Me and my son are very frustrated.... Please tell the creators to fix this. Not fair fir everyone else to p Ln ay and be sitting out at the very start.

People have been complaining that this expansion isn’t worth the money which is just crazy to me, this is actually the most content filled expansion a Diablo game has ever gotten, diablo 2 was basically just a new act that takes like 2 hours to beat and rune words. This game has so many new game modes, a new region and even a leveling system upgrade.
wait, isn't d2s expansion also added 2 classes - Assassin and Druid, also crafting with horadric cube, charms, and something else, I forgot what exactly

Comparing a twenty year old game that didn't have an in-game shop or paid season passes is kind of crazy. Especially when you consider that Diablo 4's base game is incomplete.

The vast majority of people would agree that the base game is incomplete since it doesn't have an endgame and doesn't have many quality of life features that are no brainer. Even your favorite Diablo 4 content creators will agree. Raxx, DM, and more. People aren't just saying, "we have to pay $40 more dollars to complete the game" for nothing. It's objectively true, and no, they're not talking about the new campaign or class. They're referring to rune words that aren't real rune words, mercenaries, and the Dark Citadel. Which should all be base game features. Also, acting like a forced multi-player activity is good. in a historically single-player game where most people play solo is also crazy. Especially when you understand that according to Blizzard, 85-95% of people play solo.

You saying 99% did not buy expac? you plain wrong. Don't project yourself. You can make statistic yourself just do to helltide now and see how many people have prepurchase cosmetics or cat mounts/pets. more than half probably already prepurchased it; some of my friends just wait for launch to be sure.

He, and other content creators and such, have had access to a preview build for the past week. They were under NDA until Friday. So, he's been playing it.
the issue i see is too much content for a season. after each you have to do more in the same time, which puts pressure on me and when this happens i quit. i hope they will turn this game into a mmo like game, without stupid resets.let people equip their chars, have some hard content to progress, a mix of wow and lost ark. addicts can play hardcore or make 10 chars. what's the point to farm best in slot when everything is gone after 3 months.
You have three months for each season, why are you speeding through everything?
@ADarklore Because everyone want the high end good gear the first day. No sense of accomplishment in that they worked for it. Instant gratification instead of enjoying the journey.
Yeah I’d like to see the same thing eventually I get attached to my characters and it’d be fun to level them up through each season
Hell no MMOs suck just leave the game as is... I really wish they woulda just added to season 5 since that was the best season hands down... But turning Diablo games into an MMO would ruin it IMO.
