    The reason they stay kind of gooey because they're honey-based they have actual honey in them they're never really going to dry all the way but they re wet very easily.

    O gosh. I’ve been eyeing M.Graham ever since i got into watercolors. They’ve been on my Amazon wishlist for over a year. But instead of getting them after playing with a Koi set, i purchased White Nights’ 24 set. Then went on to get the Sennelier 12 tube set a month later. Also, wound up with the Pretty Excellent 36 set as a gift last Christmas. OOmph. Must Have ALL THE PAINTS! 😆
    Your painting came out amazing. Wow. And you’re a “hobbyist”? You’re very talented!

      its expensive but also very easy to end up with such a variety of different paints so I understand the struggle 😤 I've really enjoyed working with these paints so I 100% recommend them if you ever get a chance to purchase them! and thank you so much for the sweet words!! 💝💝💞💞

      I went for it last year and got some of them. I don’t regret it at all, a couple of the colors are a permanent fixture in my palette (especially their nickel quinacridone gold so I don’t use my precious precious tube of po49 Dan Smith).

    What an awesome piece - your dragons are so rad!
    Thanks for the shout out :) I was actually shocked that you took my suggestion, and then a bit worried too when you shared some of your difficulties. I'm so glad you have decided that these paints suit you though! I also remember being surprised at how long they stayed wet in the pans at first, but as you said, After 2 weeks they even become stable enough to put into a backpack and go on some urban sketching adventures. But they always rewet sooo easy! It sucks that one of your tubes was weirdly separated though :( Which colour was it?
    Also, a fun way to play around with Daniel Smith is to order their dot card set off amazon for about $20. It's a great way to explore hundreds of colours, and the dots are big enough to complete full paintings with.

      thank you!! I'm very grateful for your suggestion, I had the W&N pans highly praised by someone I followed so I was fairly intent on getting that set, but overall having tubes and a hand selected palette is more comfortable for the customization and having more paint, so thank you for the suggestion!! the fact that they stayed so wet for such a long period of time concerned me at first because as I said in the video, I don't prefer working with wet paints, so I'm glad they get to a more dry state after some time. and for the separated paint, I didn't make note of it at the time but the color was terra rosa, which was actually a paint I received through artsnacks ??? so I'm not sure what the deal with that one was. I squeezed out most of the separation at the beginning of the tube and went from there (even though even past the first bit, the paint in the tube was still by far the most liquidy of them). I've actually been considering purchasing the Daniel smith dot card! it seems like a very helpful way to choose colors, and since it is watercolor I'm sure the dots would last me a long time, too!! ☺️

    Aw, kitty is so adorable. :) I actually prefer tubes, wet paint, over pans, dry paint. The piece came out really pretty and I like that the dragon is sitting even though you had wanted to draw the dragon standing. Very beautiful paints and love the palette.

      thank you very very much!! I know some people prefer working with paints directly from the tube so I'm glad that either option is fairly accessible! I feel like I use a lot more paint working with wet paint and I'm unfamiliar with the consistency so I'm happy sticking with dried watercolors 💝

      Do you mind me asking you some questions? I’ve recently gotten into watercolors, as my sister got me a set for Christmas. They are tubes. How should I store/use them? Should I put them into a pan pallet like in the video? Do you use them straight out of the tube? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! 😊❤️

    M. Graham Watercolors aren`t meant to fully dry. They are quite the opposite of the Daniel Smith paints which I like to call stone paints, because they get so hard XD
    I do have some Maimeri Blu which also don`t dry as hard as well as some Senneliers which also tend to stay kind of wet. If you live in a dry area they will dry eventually, but if you live in a humid area they will stay sticky forever. The reason for this is the honey they use in those paints.
    I prefer paints which dry harder because our summers get quite humid and I hate having sticky paint on my hands.

    • @crystalross2284
      @crystalross2284 3 роки тому

      Sennilier and mgraham both use honey as a binder which is why they don't dry completely.

    I LOVE the M Graham watercolor paints (and their acrylic and oils, too). They are affordable, and their pigment load is fantastic. Yes, they never completely dry in the pans, even after months.This means that they don't crack and crumble in my palette; it also means that it is much easier to mix up a wash, since you don't have to reconstitute a rock-hard paint lump.

    I got some m graham recently, and despite frustrations with them drying out in a palette (theydon't) I find that, for once, I reeeeeally like pthalo green. I'm circumventing drying time by tossing some silica desiccator packets into the palette in the empty wells. I used a mijello palette for my paints.

    I love M Graham paints. I have their watercolors and acrylics. I used M Graham to learn watercolors and now Acrylics. The brand is great for beginners and experienced artists. Weird that you got a bad tube. I've been using the brand for years and never had that. Maybe you should contact the company to see if you can get a replacement or something. I love how your painting turned out though! And the paints do take a long time to firm up, and never really solidify because of the honey in them. Good luck with the paints!

    • @tirameowsu
      @tirameowsu  4 роки тому +1

      so far I am very happy with my experience with them! aartadventure asked which color was separated, and in looking back on the footage it was terra rosa which was actually a color that artsnacks had sent me a while back... so that makes me feel better about the set at least 😅 I'm not too concerned about it because it was just the one paint, and it seems to work fine regardless, but it was just a weird encounter because I was not expecting that from the brand. I'm glad the paints firmed up enough that they don't stick to my finger when I touch them, though! I was worried for a bit that they'd stay extra wet and tacky forever, but the final consistency is very nice!! I'm sure I will purchase more of these in the future 😊

    • @TsukabuNosoratori2
      @TsukabuNosoratori2 4 роки тому

      One thing I might suggest if you have a tube separate on you again is to keep the cap on and squeeze the tube around gently, not a lot of pressure but enough to move the paint around like you're mixing it up again in the tube itself. Just to make sure it's good. I'm glad you're overall happy with the experience though :)

    I know this is two years old but heres some info for others.
    Contact M.Graham and let them know you have a tube where the pigment was separated. They will replace it. A lesson learned purchasing off Amazon, some of the art stores are selling very old paints. Also M.Gram uses honey as a binder which is the reason for the length in drying. I would be interested in knowing what color it was that separated 🤔, mine was Colbat Violet. You made a great decision by choosing M.graham they are expensive but so worth it. One other suggestion...stop making all those labels and buy a small sketchbook and do swatches with the color/number info written on them...line them up in the same order as your pallette. 😉
