Hi Doug. This is Ron. It was my pleasure sharing my models with you. I am truly honored to be included on your channel. I appreciate all the kind responses from your viewers. ( I am blown away by the number of hits these two posts have received!)
I always look forward to the weekend knowing there might be new MCM video!
Thanks Doug!
An awesome concept & great execution. A real beauty.
Hi Rick. I stole the idea from some of the great model builders of the 80's, such as Tim Boyd.
Dave Hill had a 48 Ranchero model featured in Scale Auto enthusiast in the mid-late 80's.
WOW!! Ron's pickup is fantastic. So much scratch building, Thanks for sharing. Ron
Hi Ron. Thanks for your feedback. Glad you liked it.
Great build! I like the attention to all the details!
Thanks for the kind words Johnny. For me, figuring out the details is the best part of building.
Another great video Doug.
Exelant build
Beautifully done
Thanks Doug
Very beautiful model! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I am honored to have my stuff included in Model Car Muse.
It looks so much smoother than the actual '48 Ford pickup, makes you wonder why they didn't go in this direction.
Phantom pickup models were a popular subject in the 80's and were included in articles in Scale Auto Enthusiast. A 48 ranchero convertibles was done by Dave Hill. I did the same thing except I added a top.
Ron is so humble and we’re blessed to share this universe with an icon. I especially like the foreword tilt hood 😉
Thanks Rick. for those of you not from the Mid West, Rick D. is an excellent model car and train builder. He also builds beautiful 1:1 cars in his 2 stall garage!
Great video and I like those builds that aren't obvious without closer examination.
Thanks for the feedback. This model can get lost on a table of several hundred other models. I am honored that Doug W. included it on this channel.
love your channel very interesting and learned a few tricks so far🤟
One of the great things about this hobby is that the truly great modelers like Doug Whyte, Tim Boyd, Randy Derr and so many others share their building techniques and experiences so we all have a chance to increase our skills.
Sweet!
What a great build, I really like when people do this retro-modern style mashup.
Thanks. I am glad you liked it. It was one of my favorite builds.
Lots of great detail in that build.
Beautiful work, love it thanks for sharing
Awesome build ❤😊
NICE!!!!
Awesome Truck!!!!! I remember an article in Scale Auto using a 48 on the front of the Monogram 40. Very Cool build. Thanks for sharing
I think Dave Hill built the one in Scale Auto. That is kind of where I stole the idea for this build. Glad you enjoyed my rendition and thanks for commenting.
You people are insane! Lol 👍
I hope this means you liked it.
@@charlenebutterfield5280 oh ya, I just wonder how much time put into these projects?
This one took about 6 months and a couple hundred hours. (I don't golf or fish.)
You might want to tell Ron that Ford of Australia produced a Ranchero in 1948. It was called a coupe utility and produced since 1934.
I have had the pleasure of visiting Australia and saw all kinds of Utes. If I recall, the 48 Ute was sort of a shortened business coupe with the box where the truck would be.
Amazing build. I could not quite catch what Ron used instead of Bare Metal Foil, can I ask what tape it was? Love your channel, best wishes from Nova Scotia..
Hi Ken, Ron said "furnace tape" which usually refers to an aluminum foil tape suitable for HVAC conditions. Many modelers use it. It can be burnished smooth or simulate weld beads (as Randy Derr does here: ua-cam.com/video/DoAtTQSzI_Q/v-deo.html, at about 23:06). It is thicker than Bare Metal foil, so depends on the application. I think Ron's use of it was very successful!
Sweet model. I have thought about doing g something similar.
Thanks for looking. The conversion is pretty straight forward. I used the 48 front quarter panels mated to the pickup cowl and everything just fit together pretty nicely.
