Is Carlos Sainz OK?

- With Lewis Hamilton replacing Carlos Sainz at Ferrari from 2025, what are the options for Carlos now? During his time at Scuderia Ferrari, Carlos Sainz showed that he could be a consistent driver, with race wins and podiums. Almost any team on the F1 grid could benefit from having Carlos Sainz as their driver, but with F1 seats always being so limited, what are the realistic options? Enjoy!

Even as a lewis fan I feel incredibly sorry in this scenario for Carlos. He was good at toro Rosso, good at Renault, great at McLaren and even better at Ferrari. Yes Charles is the quicker driver but I think Carlos’ win have been more impressive due to his racecraft and his ability to be so calculated and calm during the races. Ferrari will miss that I think even with Lewis lifting the team he’ll be a loss. Hopefully he goes to Audi and becomes a staple in their team going forward
carlos has got the short end of the stick at every team, its a shame
Nah Charles is more consistent lately, it shows in the points
Lewis and Ferrari is a failed marriage from the start. Don't act like we don't all know his woke frame of mind isn't going to go down well with the Italians. Also, the Ferrari CEO is a huge Ego maniac, Lewis better pack that ego of his in and shove it where the sun don't shine because at the end of the day he's washed. He thinks he still deserves full recognition for 6* world titles which is obviously just delusional. I wish him the best but he's done for, that Ferrari should be dubbed "here lies Lewis Shamilton's career"
@@danny7694Least obvious Lewis Hamilton hater:
@@danny7694 Did Lewis steal your girlfriend or something lol. Its not Lewis who asked to have a seat at Ferrari. They have approached him multiple times in the past. He has a great relationship with Vasseur and knows the board of Ferrari. You go from "I wish him the best" to "Shamilton's career" 😂. Merc dropped the ball here and everything at the moment is in favour of Hamilton's career. He announced it so early because this gives Merc a year the chance to find a new driver. Look at Nico who actually left last minute. Doesn't seem like that much of an ego imo and if you have a problem with World Champions who aren't humble and are full of themselves then I'm going to dissapoint you because a lot of these rich kids elite drivers are full of themselves. I'd say Hamilton is more humble because he constantly acknowledges the support of everyone in the organization, no matter how cliche that may sound and he also thanks everyone in his career including his father's efforts which shows he reminds himself where he came from and who supported him throughout his journey. Building relationships like the one with Vasseur which clearly pays off now. The guy even says he's happy when he sees McLaren performing well whilst he himself drove in a shitebox at the time. Doesn't sound like a ego maniac imo and wanting to be the 1st driver in a team should be the ambitions of every driver. No one wants the 2nd place.
I really hope he'll replace Stroll. Carlos and Alonso pairing would be amazing.
copium but i huff it too
God I hope that and Aston get a great fucking car
alonso to merc, lance sacked, carlos and antonelli at aston martin
I dont think Lance is going anywhere while Larry is in charge at AM but yeah that would be an interesting pair.
I think Alonso is going to Mercedes 😉
Realistically if Lance wasn’t tied with AMR. Alonso and Sainz pairing would be so good
dream team 😩
Spanish gang
Carlos is the perfect combination of youth and experience. He’s very intelligent. I hope Audi builds around him.
That’s what we’re praying for
I think Carlos Sainz wants to be in a team where he's the priority, and that's exactly what Sauber/Audi will give him.
Yep! And he's previously worked with Seidl and James Key at McLaren so they'll know how to work together.
i feel the same too but unfortunately AUDI doesnt seem to be doing very much in terms of aquiring people
Audi apparently is so bad that Binotto refused to work for them lol
Just hope Carlos gets a good car there tho
My thoughts as well
I would sign Carlos in a minute. Hes not the fastest out there, but is probably the smartest, and over a season his slighty more reserved style often beats out the more "send it" style.
Also, the leadership ability he demonstrated at Ferrari was very impressive.
He has the ability to cope with pressure and take decisions and lead the team which we all witnessed at British GP 2022 and Singapore 2023. Leclerc has pace but he cracks under pressure and he lacks leadership skills.
Leclerc sure has the "send it" mentality in qualifying.. Sending it straight into the barriers... 😮
I don't get it, what aspect tends you to believe he's not fast? He's one of the quicker ones in my opinion.
@@AshishKP43 I agree he is fast, but clearly Leclerc has many more pole positions to his name
@@briangiven7399 poles not wins
I think Ferrari will miss Carlos's race-craft and the way he would keep their race engineers in check.
Oh my God, that is soooooo true! Race after race, Charles couldn’t do that.
Carlos is a true leader. Takes decisions assessing the situation, doesn't crack under pressure and dictates his terms like he did in Britain 22 or Singapore 23. Leclerc on the other hand has pace but lacks leadership qualities. He still just accepts anything the team says, gets frustrated and then goes along with it. Never challenges. Not a true leader.
If I was at Ferrari, I'd keep Carlos and Leclerc. 2 young drivers instead of getting a old dude with whom they can't have a long term strategy.
carlos is 30 my man, also doesnt crack under pressure? what happened in 2022 when the car was fast and he could challenge for a title, he was in the gravel every week.@@Whatreally123
Did you mean strategists?
Race craft and making your strategies are different things , you know that right ?
He's one of the most consistent drivers on the grid, is shockingly calm and collected in (I'd even say especially in) high pressure situations, and can adapt to the car much better than the majority. He's by far the most valuable asset who we know for certain will be available on the driver market during silly season.
An unfortunate victim of circumstance. I hope he doesn't go to Mercedes, I don't think he'll be happy there - fighting for a #1 spot with George while Toto deals with the fallout of losing Lewis. Doesn't sound like a winning formula.
Hope he goes to Red Bull. Everyone talks about how Jos and Carlos Sr. hate each other, but last I checked it's Max and Carlos Jr. that are racing, not them. Jos especially needs to fuck off and stop trying to live through his kid, it's just sad at this point.
Jos should be kept on check, his history is... Questionable (no sane man should try running his wife over with a car)
I have no idea why anybody listens to his opinions and to what he says
Rumour reported yesterday by Peter Windsor is that it's Albon for red bull in 2025 for 3 years.
Nah, Sainz sr. should f off. Jos has let go off Max years ago as he got the lead role at RB. Why is sr. still babying Sainz while he is old enough by now (three years older than Max even)?
@@VulgrDisplaythat would be a bad move

Not a big Ferrari or Sainz fan but they way Ferrari treat Sainz is a bit disrespectful especially when he won a race last year, did not consistently put it into the barriers and has to make his own race strategies while driving just to save Ferrari. If he were to go to Aston Martin to partner Alonso as a Spanish duo that would be quite sick

All i can remember of his time at Ferrari was his car blowing up, him constantly being screwed by the team, and the only win they had last year so I'm sure he will land on his feet
A lot of people here are talking about how Lewis is more valuable to Ferrari in terms of business as compared to Carlos. The bigger issue here is about the compatibility between Charles and Lewis. When Carlos stepped into Ferrari, it was a toxic lot. He managed to do good PR, got along well with Charles off track, never crashed against him on track, picked up the pieces when Charles didn't do well on track and played second fiddle to Charles multiple times on team orders. Charles has dreamt of being the no 1 at Ferrari for years now (officially) and just when he thought the road is clear, Lewis steps in and I doubt Lewis will comply to any team order that asks him to step aside for Charles. And I will be surprised if there aren't more than a few occasions where there will be some serious on-track issues between Lewis and Charles.
I hope charles experiences what carlos did. The thing is Carlos was or is the only driver who would allow charles to win him . Lewis would essentially use charles to win the championship.
Also at this rate I don't think charles would be able win any championships. There are a lot of people trying to win
@@suppmjz I agree.
i think lewis will always be one of the greatest legend in this sport, but he had his time .In 2025 he will already be 40 I don't think he will be able to win his eighth title with Ferrari . John elkhann just want more money by using lewis name . if Enzo Farrari was alive I don't think he would have made the same choice and i say that as an italian...
Wining at Singapore was a master stroke ....he really is a legend..... Ferrari is making a big mistake by two adamant people ......😅😅😅
Sainz will definitely have a drive somewhere in 2025. He's too good to overlook. People are absolutely sleeping on his driving ability, not to mention his intelligence and willingness to override the team when necessary.
Part of me would love to see him at Haas, but honestly he's too good for Haas.
I just hope that his next team is as good for him as he has been for them.
The way Ferrari has treated him is upsetting. A person can only be overlooked and/or taken for granted for so long before it really begins to wear on them. In 2023, Carlos acted as his own strategist in addition to driving the car, and seemed to be more on top of races than his engineer. I want to see him in a place where that skill-set is appreciated.
Honestly Ferarri did Sainz dirty. The ONLY non red bull driver to get. Grand Prix win in 2023 during the most dominant year of all time for a team…
I think he deserves a top team.
Ferrari needs Carlos, but Carlos doesn't need Ferrari. I'm glad he is out of there... I'm sure he gets a seat wherever he wants.
Although I'm a big Lewis fan, Sainz is one of my favorite people on the grid, and I do hope he continues to be able to drive. The Smooth Operator deserves a decent team!
Lewis fan here:
I feel sorry for Sainz. I just imagined Ferrari being Leclerc and Sainz for a while. That was Ferrari.
Guess not
I would say that Carlos Sainz is an unbelieved top worker in formula 1. He doesn't get any results like a gift but everytime after he struggled first in a team after a couple of races or months he gets able to beat his teammate and perform the max highlights for himself and for the team.
Did he ever had the overall trust by the team as the first driver to get the big results?
If he makes a better work at ferrari than Daniel Ricciardo in Toro Rosso/Alpha Tauri/ racing bulls/ visa racing, maybe he gets his official chance in a good working major team named red bull
Was waiting for your take on this. Sainz is a great driver. It'd be an interesting pairing at Merc. My hope would be Audi. They'll need an experienced driver as they learn how to F1.
Carlos is the best engineer the team has. Made better calls than the out his whole time there. He’s catch on. He’s a professional.
I find it very interesting how people are putting Kimi Antonelli into that Mercedes seat before he's even turned a wheel in F2...
Exactly, like hold your horses, let the kid settle and prove himself
id love to see him at aston alongside alonso, shame that stroll is such an immovable object
Papa Stroll is pushing for a WEC team.
Carlos is known in the drivers market as an asset as opposed to a liability. He's a great driver who WILL (in my opinion) continue in F1 with a quality team. Not a lot of bad can be said about Carlos, plenty of good, can't see him goin away any time soon. I hope I'm right in my thoughts.
Carlos Sainz my favorite driver leaves Ferrari my favorite team. I couldn't believe when my friend texted me about Hamilton joining Ferrari like 40 minutes before it became official. And i couldn't believe this not because how let's say legendary it is but because it meant that Sainz is leaving and for me it's just sad
Ferrari did Sainz dirty, man; yeah Leclerc has the one-lap-pace but he just *can't* string a full race together consistently enough to challenge for titles. Granted that's sometimes out of his control due to Ferrari's patchy reliability and pit-stop fumbles, but when it comes to Ferrari's tactical blunders, Charles doesn't have the *stones* to veto a call and try his own strategy like Sainz can and he only airs his frustrations after the damage is done, such as Silverstone 2 years ago.
Carlos has the mindset needed to take the initiative with excellent strategy calls like Singapore last year, and that ability to overrule the team when they make bad calls is something that's needed to one-up a faster driver if they can't be beaten in a straight fight.
Agree, but ANY team (except RB) will die to get Hamilton in their team, because he is simply that good. Can't really blame Ferrari tbh.
I think Sainz to Audi is the only way he can be a number 1 driver at a team, and would love to see him pursue that
Poor guy can't catch a break.
Fernando and Carlos at AM will be a hell of a show.

Big hug from Uruguay man! Your videos are awesome, nice editing and great voice.
Sainz to Audi, it probably won't be a good first year (2025), but the bet is on 2026 and ahead.
Good First year at Audi is 2026 not 2025.
@@izzad777 He will go in 2025, while the team is only Sauber. I referred to that. Unless you want him to be out for a year 🤡
silly season began early and its gonna be fun to watch
Undoubtedly he will get another seat - he's a top talent and a race winner. I would think Aston or Audi might be most likely but we will see.
Carlos is solid and he has beaten Charles before. If a team could build around him with a car that he likes (basically an understeering car), he will do very well. Plus, he is great at strategy too, I would argue much better than Charles in this department. Knowing how bad Ferrari is at strategy, he has pretty much been running his own show and it worked. The fact that he is a methodical/cerebral driver, he suits car development work to a tee. I think Audi will be the obvious choice. Go in there as their No.1 driver and let Audi build the team around him.
2024 is going to be an awkward year for 2 teams 😬
Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
I do hope Carlos can find a seat either now or come 2026 because this feels like one of the worst ways to suddenly realize (or slowly, which feels worse because it would feel like a slow realization of death) that this could be the end of the line. He's been able to match Charles more especially in 2023 and he's rarely done anything wrong, so seeing him go like this makes me wonder that this shouldn't be the way he ends his career F1 like that. This shouldn't be how it all ends.
At this point I'm guessing he could go to Mercedes. So far it doesn't look like there's a clear option for them yet. Even Kimi would likely need another year, and as Alex has shown, it can either go really good or horribly wrong. It would be temporary but it would mutually solve both sides' short term issues (Sainz's future in F1 and Mercedes need for a stand-in until someone else like Kimi comes in).
the worst thing is not that he is getting replaced but how he got replaced, apparently he found out through Ferrari's social media posts
man poor guy he did amazing at other teams and he just gets thrown around like garbage he definitely deserves better
While yes this sucks but i dont see carlos having issues finding a seat. That man is easily one of the best drivers in f1 today, just not lewis hamilton level. Any team should count themselves lucky to have sainz in their car.
I could see him head to Mercedes, Audi, Red Bull, or Aston Martin. Besides that any mid-pack team would love to have him
He is by far the most competitive team mate Max ever had so by all means, Redbull must get him and make Max just precipitate a little.
If not Mercedes will be foolish to lose Sainz out.
Ok you cannot compare the 17 year old Max plucked from European Formula 3 his only year of single seater racing btw …And it was close at first but after Max finished p4 at Hungary 2015 Max torched Sainz the rest of the year with a string of top ten finishes
@@Jrh-rp7np Point noted and not contested, Max is another level, however, in 2015 Sainz had 7 DNFs compared to 5 DNFs.
Top Finish by Sainz that year was 7th in USGP.
Top Finish by Max (as you rightly said) 4th in Hungary.
But the speed of both were phenomenal.
Name one Driver who was not destroyed by Max, the only driver being Sainz.
It's close to impossible for anyone to beat Max in a Redbull but apart from Sainz no team mate has managed to make him sweat. You may say Daniel and Checo, they only did when Max was driving a car not to his liking, but when the car came to Max's liking he destroyed them, not what he could do with Sainz. Hence, Sainz, he cannot beat Max but atleast can make him sweat as he made Lerclerc and Lando sweat.
This is my take on it,Leclerc will struggle with Hamilton overshadowing him,Carlos will do better than Leclerc in ‘24 to try to prove his worth and get a good seat in ‘25. Either way,Redbull will take the championship the next two seasons 😊
He's a great leader to give clear direction
Really like Sainz as a driver. Would like to see him at Red Bull or Aston Martin with Alonso, even Mercedes.
Finally, someone talks about Carlos. Everyone too busy talking about Lewis
Plenty of other channels and platforms are talking about Carlos also.
Also its a 7x WDC unexpectedly moving to the team that is the biggest car brand in a desperate attempt to chase an 8th. What else do you expect?
He’s become a journeyman
He will be okay for sure. Very talented and smart guy. There are a lot of seats to play for this season. And when he can keep up what he did so far in F1, then it is not about if he gets a cockpit, its about wich one he chooses.
JUSTICE FOR CARLOS SAINZ
i NEED to see more smooth operation from him this season. This man is amazing
Carlos is a little bit like Rubens Barrichello, not really as a person or a driver, but in his standing and talent. A very, very good driver, pretty consistent, who on a good day will bring the fight to anyone but rarely gets a chance to shine. Both worked very well at smaller teams and ferrari, but the other guy was just a bit to good. Let's just hope Audi doesn't also get their version of Jenson Button^^
Sainz would be perfect for Audi. However, now that the thought has entered my head, I can't help but think that he'd be a good fit at Red Bull, too. I don't know how well he'd get along with Max, but I think he'd compliment Max very well. The main issue I do see is that Carlos tends to be a pushy driver (which I'd argue is a good thing, especially in contrast to someone like Leclerc), and I could see that potentially clashing with Max. But I think Carlos is far more consistent than Perez has been, and ultimately I think he's probably a better driver, with the potential of getting better still.
I thought Red Bull were pretty set on Daniel Ricciardo, and I still think he's most likely to replace Perez, but I could see them being tempted by Carlos if he's available, even if it's only for a 1-year deal. So I do think it's a possibility.
As a Carlos & Seb fan is never ending pain. But I am quite glad if he is gonna go to a team that treats him well since I cant stand how toxic and hating lec fans r to him anyways. Even Mclaren and RB fans support him & also remarked the difference in their ig photo comments
Sainz is a curious case. He is considered a very good driver and is highly praised by everyone but no one wants him as their first choice. RBR are talking about Norris and Albon, Mercedes regret that Norris and Leclerc are out of option and choose not to hurry, McLaren are clearly happy that they've been fast enough to re-sign their current lineup, Aston's place might be available only if they lose Alonso, Audi is a pig in a poke.
I'm sure that he finds a place, but the situation is weird.
I think you need to add some gain to your voice audio, I'm finding it a bit quiet on a consistent basis.
I know this might sound pedantic but Carlos won 2 races with Ferrari, not one - Britain 2022 and Singapore 2023. I would have liked to see him win more with Ferrari (and maybe he can do this season) but I'm sure he'll get more wins regardless as I think he has a bright future.

Being a McLaren fan I am a bit saddend that we can't add a third car, would have Carlos back in a heartbeat. Lando and Oscar are both worthy of staying though, so no dice.
It’s crazy how Ferrari have managed to get rid of an incredibly consistent and fast driver as well as their lead strategist. That’s what I love about Carlos, he is happy to tell the team HIS strategy and how the car feels for him, doesn’t just agree with data from previous sessions to make everyone happy.

Carlos has become a journey man.
I wonder if it has something to do with the team around him.
As good as he is, he just doesn't capture the imagination from teams or the television cameras for that matter.
I feel very bad for Carlos. I have been a Ferrari fan and having my favorite driver there was honestly a dream. Here would be the two realistic options:
1) A 1+1 contract at Mercedes before migrating to audi in 2026 or 2027 if it takes longer for them to get their business together
2) IF LANCE STROLL gets fired due to stakeholder pressure, then we can see Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz, where Carlos stays for a very long time eventually becoming the number 1 driver there.
I don't see Redbull as an option due to conflict, and I don't think he would go early to sauber simply because it will be a massive step down from the scuderia.
I hope he makes his way to a team that fights for podiums. Maybe Aston Martin if they can produce a good car, would be nice to see him get some podiums and a cheeky win or two.
It's gonna be crazy watching 2024 knowing how much of a reshuffle is happening.
I think with the amr valkerie coming next year in wec/imsa, there's a huge out for lance. It's not a huge step down, and he's got a far better chance of a title or a 24 hours of lemans win than he'll ever have of winning in F1
It's when things happens this way to a great driver that reminds me how (almost) impossible to be a F1 Champion
Carlos is the definition of an "8/10 driver": good, even really good, but not particularly amazing or outstanding. Excited to see where he goes still.
I'm much more worried for Ferrari without Sainz than Sainz without Ferrari tbh.
This is just something that comes with the territory with Ferrari. They will always have a vacancy for a World Champion and If you are not a World Champion or their current protégé you will be the one to go.
I’d love to see him go to Sauber which will then become Audi because if he replaced Zhou (since Sauber don’t need his money anymore because Audi are taking over), Bottas the more experienced driver can help see out the Sauber car development and perhaps leave in 2026 to be replaced by a younger driver.
RB would also be nice, I think Sainz would provide more competition compared to Perez and I’d love to see Sainz take the fight to Max again.
I don’t think Mercedes is a good option, They have a few younger drivers in the mix and George wants to be prioritised, Also, I can see Toto stepping away from Mercedes TP role soon, I think it’s about time that happens.
Sad to see him go. I really enjoy this duo.
Just throwing this out there. The level of performance Max is at currently is near impossible to sustain year after year. Can he possibly get any better? Or will he start to have issues with lady luck, at a minimum, by 2025? If Carlos was a gambling man, Red Bull would be his fastest route to a championship. Carlos has been working hard and paying his dues for a while now, not sure a step back for "building" at another team is in his itinerary. But, he is the Smooth Operator, maybe he is more patient that I I think. Just my opinion.
Max would utterly destroy Sainz, pretty pis poor gamble to take on Max.

Carlos to Aston. If I'm Lawrence Stroll, I'm pulling out my pocketbook. With a Honda PU in '26 and Alonso undoubtedly retiring at some point (I mean he has to, right?), a driver like Carlos is definitely high on your shopping list.
Now imagine this, 2024 Carlos rakes in more points than Charles and wins 5 races to Charles only 2. I'll love to see that and Ferrari bosses and management faces.
Oh and another thing is this whole episode I think just made more ppl fans of Carlos. He really is the smartest and most gentleman racer on the grid. Good racecraft and all rounder, can u imagine if Carlos was just that ever bit faster on Saturday. He will be flipping hot commodity.
He could end up in Mercedes or Aston Martin, I think.
What you're missing with the Antonelli and Piastri comparison, is that Piastri had been embedded in the Alpine team for a few years to help him gradually adapt. Antonelli would be thrown into the deep end.
He won 2 races
He's going to Red Bull. You heard it here first
Carlos Sainz was the only Non-Red Bull winner of 2023 and it's confirmed he will lose his spot in the future before the start of the 2024 season
People used to say he’s just keeping the seat warm for mick. Id say losing your seat to a 7 time champ is way less embarrassing
I think Carlos Jr is an excellent and really smart driver. He unfortunately has been forced to play the second fiddle as Ferrari always does. It would be the same in Mercedes or RB. I hope he gets a seat in a competitive team. Maybe Aston Martin or Audi.
I am hoping for Red Bull
Feels a bit like when Perez had a great season with Racing Point but got booted for an aging Vettel. Hopefully he'll get a similar move to Perez, no chance he deserves to be out of the sport.
Peter windsor reported yesterday on his livestream that Alex Albon has the red bull seat in 2025.
I am not sure about that one. Would Albon fare much better now than before? He is doing well in Williams, but there is hardly any pressure there and he has a weak team mate. How would he do against Max?

Him and Binotto in Audi will be a good match... wish them the best if that is the case. regarding RB, would not wish that second seat to anybody, unless Max leaves the team.
Mercedes and Red Bull will be happy to sign Carlos. I would be surprised if he misses out on a top tier seat next year.
I believe he will see a title some day, just needs the right people behind him
I really hope RB will take CS55 and be a reserve driver for RB or AT. I mean, his dad already is a RB driver for Dakar Rally, so why not?
I have just assumed that carlos was going to do the whole audi thing and havent thought twice about redbull but seeing the thumbnail made me really think about it. I know redbull would rather have a clear number two who doesnt cause max any headaches but i wonder if theres a world where both checo and daniel struggle this year and redbull skips both of them for carlos. They were talking about signing lando so obviously their not against bringing a top guy in there.

Sainz wants a car that understeers, like Perez and since Max beat Perez already in an understeering car (the heavily overweight RB18), we all know how that will turn out. Not to mention how Sainz will utterly fail in an oversteering car, like Perez, which is how the RB is built nowadays. But hey, if Sainz would like more of the appetiser he had in the TR with Max by getting a solid beating, he should definitely go to RB. But in that case equal treatment also means sr. gets to f off, since Jos has done that years ago with Max. Funny how Sainz needs babying from his father, while being older than Max.
All I can think of is how he parked on the racing line at the end of the straight at Canada in qualy and compromised others and his own hot lap
Ferrari fired him because he made some good strategy calls in 2023. That's unacceptable.
Audi or Aston would be nice.
The only reason I feel Sainz won’t head to Merc is Antonelli in F2. They want him in that seat asap so really they’d only give Carlos a couple years and kimi a year or two in a Williams before bringing him in. Carlos clearly wants a longer term project and to bed himself within the team. So the Audi project consider the Audi links to his dad seems the best bet. But sad to think lewis has inadvertently retired his best mate Valterri/mullet ass
I think gr and carlos would be awesome
7:21………. Carlos actually won 2 races with Ferrari - British GP in 22 and Singapore GP in 23.
Sainz has a place to go: Audi/Sauber. His father is linked to the car manufacturer (he even won Dakar for them).
