use both feet inside the stringer so that the stringer is almost perpendicular to the floor, rather than the usual triangle shape with a single foot.
much easier to string using this technique.

@@mikekupetsky6879 they definitely give a similar let-off feel but the performance isn't as extreme.
on the plus side, you can shoot something like 6gpp with the uukha's without issues, but the borders / morrisons will break. they're just that more efficient that the stress will crack the limbs if the energy has nowhere else to go.
You are correct about returning Uukha limbs. I bought a set of Evo2s from Alternative Services and one was twisted. I returned to AS but they said they would have to be sent back to factory for determination. Long story short, AS was notified to the fact that one was twisted and I was sent a new set. Great service. And great limbs to boot.
AS are shit to deal with, in my experience. Won't ever be using them again.
There's also the top model limb, which is the SX+, so there's 4 different target limbs. They also make them all in 4 different lengths with Extra Long 72" as a option. I recently shot some SX50 72's and they felt really nice compared to my WNS Motive C5 limbs at full draw. I really like the way they feel with that slight let off feeling with my 31" draw. I'm going to get some when I can afford it. Also shot a 74" bow that was a Uuka Xpro2 27" riser with the older VX+ Extra long limbs which was a fantastic bow. So nice. Great to see your getting on board with Uukha as I buy a lot through you.
That's understandable as you compared a high end limb to a more low-medium end limb

I have some of the older Uukha limbs (Ex1 Evo2) on my recurve, which have been great limbs. As another poster mentioned, using two feet with the stringer is better to cut down the angles. I also made up some strings with smaller end loops, as the loops on standard recurve strings seemed much too large for them.
I tried a pair of Uukhas at the club a while back and I was blown away. Incredibly comfortable to shoot. I get that if you are used to the stacking of your "normal" limbs and using it as a sort of wall it can be annoying that there is no stacking. Personally though, I will get a pair whenever it's time to get new limbs.
My daughter had shoulder pain when using W&W. We changed to Uukah all pain disappeared. Arrow speed increased with less draw weight. Now using VX1000 and wouldn't use anything other than Uukah.
weird, I once got a shoulder injury with the VX1000, for the way they draw hard in the early draw (though my form wasn't the best at the time, but I had to switch back to conventional limbs)
To be fair Stephen, comparing the uukhas with those WNS is like eggs and pianos....
My Hoyt Satori sports Uukha Vx+ Xcurve limbs; beautiful and fast combination. You can’t go wrong with Uukha.
I don't own ukhas but I own a border so same thing, it took me a lot of getting used to the release feel when you have a recurve with let off. Expansion to release is much easier as you said.
I own 42# Border hex 7 2 and Uukha 40#. Of the two the Border are much more serious. Border Archery have been producing Super recurves for many years

Could I put these limbs on a sanlida riser for a hunting set-up?
The reason the speeds are higher than you see at the Olympics is that X10s something like 20% heavier than VAPs.
The limbs are quieter on your bow than his barebow because stabilizers and dampeners make a huge impact on sound. Barebows are always louder.
Limbs like these, with a really smooth back-end, are great for archers that pull through the clicker. Limbs like the NS-Gs are great for archers that push through during expansion. Barebow archers like these because there is less of a change in the way the string feels at different crawls.
Not necessarily. It depends on the person. For someone who was used to a stacking or more aggressive limbs, the uukhas are too soft even for some of them who only pulls through the clicker.

Had my uukha limbs for about a year and a half now love them but still not easy to string could do with longer arms.
The uukha limbs are not much more curved than a standard limb. I shoot the uukha xx and Morrison Max 6 which are about 50% more curved than uukhas. Even still I can string them with the step-through method not even using a bow Stringer

I shoot the Uukha EX1 EVO2 limbs , amazing bit of kit , smooth fast and quiet
I shoot Border Hex 7.5, which are very similar to the Uukhas, and God they're fast. They are even more extremely recurved and they are a git to string. I know what you mean by the stack at the end with regular recurves - I've also got WIN&WIN limbs. The new CV9 limbs actually let off in the last few inches, but build to peak draw weight within a few inches and this state EXACTLY the same until a few inches from your chin. It's very very different and they are so much faster and cleaner.
I have the cv9s and uukha irbis.
the cv9s are amazing but a a little bit fussy in the setup.
1. They need heavier arrows (10gpp minimum looking at Sid's charts). Lower will damage limbs.
2. A riser with deflex (I ended up ordering a tempest riser because most risers on the market have a reflex design which stresses out the limbs too much and can cause damage).
3. A longer string - this is easy because you can just order a size up which works just fine on the cv9.
the uukha's are easier to setup and can use a lighter arrow without damaging the limb.
they are prone to having the outer layer chip, but that's only a cosmetic issue apparently.
having said that, I still prefer the Borders any day of the week.
They have more power than the Uukhas but require some more attention to get it shooting well.
@@x3roxide I have a Spigarelli Revolution riser (it's nicer to shoot than my WIN&WIN CXT by far!), and I shoot ACEs, which are way too light according to Sid's charts. I very very carefully drilled and tapped the riser where there are very few stresses, and installed string stoppers (with the necessary gap between the string and rubber when at rest to be compliant with World Archery rules) and wow! Quieter, faster, more accurate and consistent and far less stress on the limbs and riser. One of the nocks broke upon loose, so it dry fired. It wasn't much louder and no damage.

I did some tests with my collection of risers and I found that any riser which had a significant reflex was way louder than those which had a strong deflex (deflex being that the grip is forward compared to the limb pockets)
@@x3roxide Hoyt made a set of "string stops" for their recurves called the 'Stealth Shot'. It's an interesting idea but they weren't very popular.
I agree with your findings, I had a pair of ILF Hex 7's that I used with a Satori riser which is slightly deflexed, felt much better and quiter than on my target rig at the time. I ended up selling them and buying a bolt down Hex 7.5 Covert hunter which is even nicer to shoot and quiter, and a pair of Formula CVW's that I use for target.

Sooo these limbs come with a 30year fixed mortgage.

0:54 I think there are 4 Uukha limbs, the SX+, SX100, SX80 and SX50, and the SX+ are more expensive than the SX100, but they are both 100% Carbon.
Don't forget the nature series. They cost about 10% less but come rated on a 19" riser and only in 5# increments. Plus minimal decals means they look nicer imo.

I recently paired the Uukha SX50 Limbs (Long @ 32#) with a CD WFX25 Lite Riser as a new barebow recurve. These limbs are extremely smooth and also very quiet without limb dampers installed. Their smoothness is especially appreciated because both of my shoulders have torn rotator cuffs (right worse than left and I am right handed). These limbs allow me shoot with greater comfort for a longer period of time. For my part - I would highly recommend them.
My other barebow is a Wiawis Winex 25" riser coupled with Wiawis Winex limbs (Long @ 32#). It is a good rig, but the new one surpasses it by a significant amount for both accuracy and consistency. I am very seriously considering trying these Uukha limbs on the Winex Riser.
Note: Using both feet on the bow stringer makes stringing the bow with these limbs pretty straight forward and easy.

I like my Uukah limbs....they are consistently "Hot" and accurate. The limb tips are also extremely small and difficult to string at #40 for a 70" olympic recurve. It takes patience and usually a bow stringer to prevent scuffing the limb tips.

I think most olympic-style recurve archer will struggle with the expansion because we're used to the certain balance with the pull-and-push

They are dominating in the barebow scene, specially in Europe. In the line of fire oftenly you need to combine the W&W, Hoyt and Fivic users to get the same amount of limbs as Uukhas on a given tournament. I have the Tuulai in #44 (they no longer make them above #40) and surely my next limbs will be Uukha again. Is really that easy since most of the other brands use horrible glossy finishes in their limbs, and Uukha and Border are almost the only which make super recurves (and in mate finish).

I shoot 40 # Uukha SX100'S on a spigarelli BB riser. I also shoot Border Archery Black Douglas riser with 42# Border Hex 7.2 limbs. The reflex on those is amazing. It almost feels like a compound when you draw it back
Stringing the bow is a piece of cake! I have 32# Uukha limbs and I don't use a stringer. I string all my bow with my body, and I don't see any difference between Uukha and other limbs.

Been shooting the 80s all season. Scores up. Smooth as fook. Needed a softer spine arrow though (1 box weaker). Fffffffffast! Recommended.
Great video. The limb profile looks really similar to a Bob Lee cobra curve. Same challenges with stringing it

Great video! Nice to see you shooting well and feeling satisfied. I like the sound smooth and feel great 👍. I was planning to get uukha sx limbs and fit to my mk z riser. I'm not sure about poundage between 36 and 40 to reach 90m. I'm dropped my poundage from 42 to 40 or less due to my head pain.

I shoot the latest Uukha SX+ limbs 32lbs. Previously, I was using Samick & SF limbs, also very nice quiet limbs.
These are my findings of the Uukha SX+ limbs:
I find stringing the Uukha limbs is easy. I don't use a limb stringer. I put the lower limb into my right foot and slide the string into its position on the top limb. I always place a rubber band over the lower part of the string and limb to keep the string in its correct position. Never had a problem. Easy as.
The limbs are super smooth through all the drawing cycle. My humble opinion is ... at the end of shooting 72 arrows, it's still almost as easy as the first 36. I find getting through the clicker at the end of the tournament is easier with the Uukha limbs because these limbs don't stack.
I can't explain why, but Uukha 32lbs limbs feel like the same poundage as my 28lbs SF limbs. (I'm pulling 32.5lbs on the fingers).
At my home backyard range, for the first time at 50 meters, I shot 6 X 10's, using the Uukha SX+ limbs. (That was a good day).
Uukha says that it may be possible to use a weaker spined arrow because the limbs are so smooth. I'm shooting 830 Easton X10's, 28.5" cut to cut, with 85gn tungsten points. (After an arrow/bow tuning session, I do believe the 830 spine is at the limit. I'm fairly sure that a 750 spine Easton X10 may be better).

The Womens 2020 US Open was won by Alexandria Zuleta-Visser using Uukha limbs and riser.
For me, these Uukha SX+ limbs are very good. I'm looking forward to the new 2022 riser.

What is the difference between the Uukha target and nature line? Like between the sx+ and the altaii? I only see design and more fine draw weights for the target version..

are borderline super curve which require a stiffer spine so your arrows are probably showing week I'm not sure if your right or left handed

I had a set but I ended up selling them. They shot well but I thought that they drew hard and were loud to shoot. Just my opinion, obviously Olympians know more than I do, but I went back to W&W.
I agree. They pull about 10lbs heavier straight from bracehight compare to my regular limbs. So almost 25lbs at bracehight hurt my shoulder. 38# on the fingers.

What riser does Ryan shoot? I had my long sx50s on a gillo gt 25 inch riser, with paragon arrows and it sounded like a gun no matter how I adjusted to draw weight or brace height. I have the same limbs on a kinetic sovren 27 inch riser with the same arrows and it's almost silent

What about string? Do normal length string gives you same BH as on normal limbs or you have to shorten/lengthen it?
the uukha's can use the same string, might just need to untwist it a few times to get it right.
the borders require a string size up, for example an AMO 64" bow will require a 66" AMO string. Not sure about morrisons.

So compare 36# uukha and 34# wns u get almost same draw weights at 28".
If you look at the Jake kaminski review which has very exact data , the UUkha is less efficient than win, Hoyt , pound for pound. This was thought to be because of the marked weight decrese around the last inches of draw which is why people go wow because they feel lighter to come through clicker. In reality you pay the price for this.
The decrease in weight is to your advantage when you release the string it is increasing in speed and not decreasing as with Kuwait women win and the likes. My morrison max 6 are the fastest limb I have ever shot
@@mikekupetsky6879 If you decrease weight you decrease speed! You cannot have the best of both worlds.
It also makes the release more difficult.
@@derekhunt9118 you actually have to measure the weight inch by inch and determine the area under the graph. The greater the area, the more stored energy.
super recurves start increasing weight much quicker than conventional limbs and then right at around 25" mark, the tips unravel, increasing draw length while not increasing draw weight all that much.
The ultimate extreme of this is actually a compound bow, and if you were to compare it's graph, you would find its area much greater than a recurve.
@@x3roxide We are referring to recurve limbs which are designed with a draw force curve increasing dramaticaly for the first part of draw then reducing to about 2lb per inch at the latter part. You cannot say at what draw length this starts exactly but for a 66" bow usually around the 27-28: mark , this will alter according to the length of the limb and some extent the manufacturer. The point was made that Uukha have a very low weight per inch near full draw and this effects the release through clicker and this design which is unusual may be the reason why the energy is not so efficiently stored by the limb although there could be other reasons.

efficiency isn't lost because of the way it's stored. It's lost because of the increase in drag force (air resistance).
the extra energy actually was a disadvantage in efficiency calculation precicely because the arrow was a little too light to be optimal. increase the arrow weight by ~100 grains and then calculate the efficiency again and I'm sure you would have very different results.
S-curve uuhka are super stiff initial draw and flattens out. Also I have 28,5" draw and both uukha and winnex medium limbs started stacking at 33". Uukha measured at 28" amo, win-win 26" amo. So win-win about 2 lbs heavier marked weight.
W&W is not measured at 26 AMO. Their manual clearly states it's measured at 28 AMO and how to measure AMO draw length. They are measured at minimum tiller bolt position on their risers. This means that they tend to be 2# heavier at the middle setting on most risers. If they were actually measured at 2" shorter, they'd be closer to 4# heavier than 2#.
@@mathiashammar1 AMO Standard is to measure draw length from nock to pivot point and then add 1.75”. So W&W measures at an AMO/ATA standard draw length of 28". Just like everyone else.
From Hoyt's manual:
"The weight marked on the limb is measured at a 28” standard A.T.A. (Archery Trade Association) draw length. A.T.A. draw length is measured at 26 1/4” to the throat of the bow grip plus 1 3/4”. This produces an industry standard by which draw weights are measured."
You are misunderstanding the standards.
W&W measure their limbs at 28" AMO, but with the tiller bolts fully out, so the marked weight is the limbs minimum. Most other companies measure with the tiller bolts in the middle position, so you are right that W&W limbs are usually heavier than other manufacturers limbs at the same marked draw weight.

It's a top brand, but also expensive. Start with picking up a used set and save a few pennies.

W&W is a company, they make multiple risers/limbs and complete setups.
For Olympic archery, they are amongst the top brands on the market. For bare-bow there are more specialised options such as GIllo or Spigarelli which focus on balance without the use of stabilisers.

Not all Uukha limbs have a super recurve shape and the distinctive draw force curve that comes with that. Most Uukha limbs being used around the world have a conventional profile . They still feel a little different to most limbs but not nearly as dramatically as super recurves do
