played one of these for the first time tonight. It’s a fantastic instrument - the satin finish makes the neck easy to navigate, the fretboard radius lends itself to bends, and it’s got sustain for days. The tone is incredible, you can truly get a range of sounds from this guitar.
This is one of the best “new” Fenders that has come out in a while. Really digging the color! That flat 12” radius and torrefied neck with that big ass headstock really make this one a stand out.
Love teles, love 12" radius, love slab rosewood boards, love purple, love supporting real artists. Can't frik'n wait! Excited to own my second tele deluxe which I'm sure I'll be keeping this one! So stoked! Thanks for the great review John! See ya around Nash.
That's the demo I have been waiting to hear. When you want to hear a peice of gear used to its potential and sound the way it was intended, don't waste your time listening to anyone but J.B.
I just bought a used one. It is a great guitar! Plays great, sounds great, and it is a beautiful guitar. Before I played it I wasn’t sure about the V neck but is a soft V and feels great. Definitely a keeper.
killer guitar, reminds me a lot of my troublemaker tele deluxe. the four knob setup allows for a huge pallet of sounds that aren’t possible with the typical two knob configuration.
John you’d make any guitar sound great! And you certainly did with this one! Now I’ve got to get myself a two humbucker Tele with a stop tail piece and tunematic bridge!
Have one these three screw tele deluxes. Beware when it comes to pickup swaps not so easy to find 3 screw pickups I had to have some hand made …but I love mine
Pre-ordered... still not here yet and chomping at the bits to get my hands on it. Excellent review, first one I have seen that showed some of the tones you went through! Thank you!
@@jonbon7219 The one I got had a lot of issues. Not just fret sprout and setup problems but a lot of electronic issues. I worked with my retailer and they authorized me to do the initial repairs, as I do that on the side for people, and I couldn't fix it so I sent it back and they couldn't either and were going to have to send it back to Fender then me wait for the next batch. I was so frustrated with all the issue on top of the fret sprout I just told them to cancel and give me my money. I loved the look and hoped I would love the sound once I got it but never got a chance. About a year later I got the Squier Classic Vibe version and it was flawless at less than 1/4 the price. I do have a friend who got one about 9 months after I had to send mine back and his was perfect and he loves it. I sure wish mine had been but I guess I'm happy with what I have plus the significant amount of extra cash.
hi...the beck ''tele-gib''.......didn't have a tune-o-matic,,,,but a sawed off tele bridge!!!! Seymore made one for himself later on that had a stopbar and a tune-o-matic....just say'n....love these videos.....this kingfish guitar looks really cool to me too.
This is a great guitar. I'm being SUPER picky, I know. If there were a model of this guitar with a Tele headstock, and without the pickguard, I would be sold. Of course, these don't make the sound. Again, I'm being really picky. I just would love this guitar with a Tele headstock and no pickguard. The guard sort of kills that classic Tele shape for me. I do LOVE the four knobs. Anyway... whatever... great guitar... Kingfish is an amazing player, and I am not familiar with this guy, but wow, is he good. Love the chicken-pickin' style.
It’s a Les Paul in layout, but it doesn’t sound anything like my Les Paul’s. I bought the Kingfish to use as my “flat tuned” guitar. The pickups are definitely a bit hotter than the Custombuckers in my Les Pauls, but they’re not as hot as a standard Fender humbucker and they have a bit more treble to them.
i know am not much of a Fender lover, but that is one of the coolest Fenders i have seen in a long wile , legit felt like having it in my hands and play with it truly wander if is good for Gothic Doom Metal sounds..? only physical complaint i have is the stupid belly cut in the back just hate the whole Fat mentality of it is useless and just feels like the guitar is missing a chunk of wood on it but hey man i just the rare case of someone hating that calamity done to most guitars nowadays
Is it MiM or US I don’t see anything listed on Sweetwater’s listing Edit Fender site is keeping it a secret too for 2k at least tell me I don’t care it’s just a few miles down the road apart but not disclosing is weird
Great Guitar and video, issue overpriced, exact guitar in this demo are being discounted 10%+ and this was just released; entry guitars (Squiers up to 40% discount - right now). I really love Fender guitars, but man they are CNC'd pieces of wood, and wood is still cheap. I hope Fender wakes up and addresses the current unsustainable pricing model.
Is it American made? Inflation has hit everything. In a few years people will say $2,000 was cheap. I bought Mod Shop for a lot less than they are now.
@@teleguy5699 Unfortunately, our society has a short memory, so you may be correct. In the 70's a USA new Strat was $600 (I still have that one) and in 2005 they were $900 - $1200 (based on model). During the last mortgage crisis (2007 - 2012) I was regularly buying new USA Strats and LP's w/H/S cases for under $700 and mint used ones for under $600. Today, one can buy a Fender USA Ultra Luxe for $2600+ or an Ibanez AZ Prestige (MIJ) that plays out the box better than any strat I've ever touched. Look at their specs, just bought the Prestige AZ2402 at SamAsh for under $1600 (NEW). Also picked up a MUSI -Virgo (off Amazon) installed a new stainless steel trem and string trees all for $360 (a very easy upgrade) and it plays as well as anything out there - sounds great w/stock pups - specs are outstanding. With 15,700 cars (PER DAY 24/7) being repossessed in the USA expect to see some great guitar deals coming out of this crap economy. Cheers
Other than a few specs (12" radius board, tune-o-matic, roasted neck), this is very similar to a Tele Deluxe Pro II, which is a great guitar. The Pro is a bit less money, and is well worth looking into if you're into this.
Great guitar but why do you have to pay $2K to get a tummy carve. Want to sell some guitars? Put a tummy tuck, locking tuners and arm carve on the front and you'll sell a boat load.
John is alright. I like him. Not quite as pretty as that Rabecca girl....she was still a great host tho. She's hosted a few of of my daydreams after all. Now if she played guitar also.....
99% of Fenders are now average at best, and how many 'signature models' does everyone have to have, bouncing from one builder to another like they suffer from attention deficit?

Glad for Kingfish, I hope the guitar gives him some more spotlight and makes him some money, the guy diserves it
I noticed a bigger belly cut on this guitar. Just sayin, just sayin, not trying to be disrespectful.
This thing is awesome. I usually steer clear of Signature Models but I NEED this.
Just when you think you don't need another tele... This thing is freakin' gorgeous, sounds great too!
its not a tele..its a kool geetar however

I like that he didn’t just slap his name on a tele . I like the 12 inch radius .
I can't say I've been following KINGFISH's career for too long, but he ROCKS! I'm excited he's had the collaboration.

JB can make any guitar sound great.
I saw an interview with JB and he said the Strats were great, right out of the box. I later found out he used almost nothing right out of the box.
😂
Oh my goodness that colour. Hope that colour makes its way into more models
There's just so much to love about that guitar.
Cool sounding pickups there! They sound real ferocious instead of the really smooth sweet sound of typical wide range ones!

Love how this is obviously a Les Paul player’s Fender guitar... Les Caster, Tele Paul
A guitar conceived by one of our contemporary guitar geniuses! I want one!

Another beautiful review John, giving us a nice feel for what this guitar is all about. Thank you.
John you’d make any guitar sound great! And you certainly did with this one! Now I’ve got to get myself a two humbucker Tele with a stop tail piece and tunematic bridge!
This guitar is speaking to me! Had a purple strat 21 years ago that I lost in a pawn shop, and this reminds me of it.
I love king fish and Marcus king. They should play together if they haven’t. That would be a sick show.
I have a neck-through Squire Tele with hums and it rocks.
Guitar is nice. John your melodic development is fabulous. Even inside a blues progression. Creativity like that should headline.
JB, Billy Bob Thornton’s chill cousin telling it as it is. Excellent review, good sir.

I was honored to open for Kingfish three years ago in Little Rock, he's a really nice fellow. We talked about cigar box guitars.
Ikm so happy for Kingfish, dudes legit! John has amazing touch and tone 🔥🔥

With all due respect, that's a Les Paul with a fender logo
Doesn’t sound like one at all, on account of scale and pickup design. Much clearer and less honky/growly.

Jeff's has a tele 3 barrel bridge.
Tried this out at a shop, can't live with the "V" shape in the neck which you can feel from the 1st to 5th frets. Had to pass on it.
Does that neck have a Tele heel? I thought the Tele Deluxe necks had Strat heels?
I got one on launch day. It’s nice, but my pickups are really Microphonic. Anyone else experience this?
No, mine seem fine.
I have one. Great guitar! I love it. Unfortunately a little heavy for a Tele: 3.66 kg
John what is the weight of yours?
Good Lord.... John could make a Tiesco Del Ray sound killer...
John could you do a review of The Custom Shop Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster . Please . All The Best . From Toronto .
John have you ever played any G&L’s? I’m a huge fan since ordering one.
Yes. I owned one for years. Great guitars
Love your reviews. Guitar vol seems a bit low.
did John refer to kingfish as She twice?
Too many bells and whistles for a tele, just my humble opinion . Kingfish sure can play though, as can you. Thanks for the review
