I absolutely agree that when you say "leave your hair alone, it will grow back". I can attest to that. I have butt long locks and I was never a believer in twisting my locks or having people putting their hands in my hair. I however found the middle of my hair thinning. I was terrified. I really listened to you and I stopped washing my hair every two weeks, wore it up and high on me head. Also stuck with my natural and real Jamaican Castor oil and the real Jamaican coconut oil. Both manually pressed in Jamaica. I myself am Jamaican, so each time I went home, my husband would get my supplies. I am happy to say that after six months of taking your advice, my hair has grown back just as thick as it used to be. Thanks again
That mi a do now..mi did a do mi hair too often fi real mi ago left it
Chana Duncan Mrs Duncan, I have thinning in the front of my hair near the forehead/hairline like near the edges😭 do u have anything to recommend? It’s been like this for awhile from traction alopecia
@@showtimesportsmedia6906 She just clearly wrote in her comment the question you are asking her. 🧐😎
@@p.r.9982 Yes! Do not put any products in your hair. Shampoo has chemicals that will build up in your hair over time. Just use Dr Bronners Castille Soap, ACV, and water.
thank you for posting these videos. i am almost 4 months in my locs and i have learned so much. i hope all your clients recover with strong healthy locs. God Bless
you picked the perfect Bob Marley song for you and what you do Queen.Blessing to you
A bald patch in that area could also be signs of low thyroid function. I had a patch in exactly the same spot & it turned out to be subclinical hypothyroidism
jinae di nisci has your hair grown back or did you end up cutting it
KeDaS0L brandon i want to now also what ended up happening?
jinae di nisci she mentioned that he got tested
I think if that would have been his problem it wouldn’t be growing back without medical treatment. Plus she said in the beginning of the video that it wasn’t a medical problem, so I’m sure he went to the doctor and they told him it was traction alopecia since that’s what she also stated.
Thank you for posting! I just locked my hair yesterday so this is very informative
This made me want to cry. 😢
Thank you Yannie👍🏾 This helped me. 🙏🏾
I don't have locks I have a afro and I two strain twist it at times....but your vids have even helped me....thanks
Yanni, Your AWESOME . I like the FACT tht., you explain the issues about some of w/YOUR clients hair as well hair products. I wish I lived CLOSE by so tht., I could come 2 u. Take care my sistah, PEACE!!
You are absolutely right! I have seen so many people lose there hair, because the see an inch of new growth. Most guys walk around constantly twisting the root of there dreads.
You are right! I love messing with my hair, not always styling but just "itchy fingers" lol. I do loc rests and palm roll every now and then interlock when needed (once since I've started). Leaving it alone + water+light oils+regular washing+sunlight has turned things around! and my neck hurts less
Hello Yannie! I hope you’re well. I’m actually rewatching your videos, as of lately the front of my Locs has been thinning. I’ve started going longer between washes now, and aim to get it retwisted maybe 2-3 months❤️
You, my dear, have a new subscriber. Much love to you for your sage advice.
Thank you my sister for your advice l,'ve been getting my hair done every month for over 7 years because here in chicago they say every two weeks or every month thank you for your honesty.
was your hair still healthy when you got your hair done every month? Did you notice any breakage or thinning?
Love the advice you share! I just started with my locs and I am so grateful for the info you share. Thank you so much! 💕
This is one of the main things that people with loc's do not understand.
I have butt long locs and I do retwist between 2/3 weeks because I work in corporate America. I have no breakage but I also don’t really style my hair cuz my scalp is sensitive and I do not put random products in hair
My hair grows around 4 inches in around 3 months and even then I don't touch my hair every 2 weeks. It's more of every 3 months. The less I touch it the more it grows the healthier and thicker it gets. I obviously make sure its clean and my parts don't get matted but that's just how my hair is. I get so nervous about it just falling out or breaking off.
thank you ! because i do my boyfriend locs..good to know u not suppose to do it so often
This sister has a lot of work to do for herself, her mental and emotional health #1. Start getting to know your hair. Cut the hair down low bald if needef, rock your earrings, let your hair grow (FREEFORM) keep it clean a little natural oil, coconut oil on the scalp, whatever works for you. respect your hair (LEAVE IT ALONE). Do preventive health care read about scalp conditions see a Doctor. Eat well, drink water and take your vitamins. This beautiful Sister can do it (To your own self be true). Thank God for Yannie she gives people hope. I know because she helped me.
hate to say it but you have too realize that many hair stylists are out to get a check and will give bad advice with little to none knowledge about locs. A had one friend get his locs re-twisted every two weeks until his broke off at the crown. I knew another guy who loctician braided his locs when they were still wet and he left that braided style in for 3 weeks; took them down and got mold in his hair. smh
Real tlk
That's horrible. Money shouldn't compromise hair health
My loctician wants me to go back on the 17th of this month in March but I might just cancel because I don't need it to be palm rolled when she had just did it on the 18th of feb. It doesn't need to be neat like you said because that's counterproductive on having locs.
okay, no more every once a month. no more 17 oils lol
no more tap water
wow!😍 thank you Yannie!!!!!!
I retouch the front every 3 months and the back every 6 months. I tried the whole head 6 months before... The front would be sore from the weight of them when I wash them or put them in a ponytail
Thank you, Beloved, for such valuable information. Blessings.💜
Once a month is to much I got atleast 2 months maybe 3 so what’s better emu oil or Castro
Now a year on has the. brothers hair grown back ? Is he looking a little fuller on top ???
Gerry Gold please respond to the question posted.
Right?
im gona show this to my husband who love doin his hair every month. And i keep telling hi wait til you have more new growth!!! kmt.
Yanni does have beautiful hands
Thanks for sharing this video, very informative and wise tips. I am so delighted I found your links! I just started my journey in August 2015, I'm looking forward to visiting your shop in Georgia as well as listening to your blogtalkradio broadcast.
I have found that 1/2 tea tree oil and water in a applicator bottle works wonders not only to cleanse my hair but it's helping it to grow. Apply to each section of the hair and the edges. Twice week and drink plenty of water.👍🏾.
Thank you so much always good information 🖤
what happened to the before pictures
It could just be balding n not to do with traction or anything. .a number of people especially men start losing hair as early as in their twenties n my bro is one of em he started balding around early to mid ternties...it cud just be genetics
carsty, it could also be thyroid. I had a bald patch like this & it turned out to be low thyroid function
carsty She addressed that in the video.
And it isn't his thyroid either. She addressed the state of his health in the video as well.
@jinae di nisci (I know I may be late) But was there a way to reverse that? I too have a small patch on my crown I believe to be because of my thyroid. I massage though.
carsty I am in agreement with you!
I definitely agreee that’s why I’m not getting it done every month I’m getting it done ever 2-3 months
Preach girl !!!! Love it
I remembered the guy who used to interloc my hair would tell me come once a month I laughed now I dont even go to him no more locs been growing healthier since and I only apply organic coconut oil I got from wm once a month
I heard interlocking itself cause thinning. Is this true?
Previously on the walking dread!!

Hello. For this type of hair loss, is it only emu oil that is good to be used or are there other oils?
Hello there. Love your videos, thank you. What do you do it you have a small patch in the middle of your head and it is itchy?

I am not a hairstylist & i tell my husband the same thing i havnt done his hair in like 7 months it looks just like this he wants to cut it im telling him NO just wash it oil it & leave it alone he wears it in a pony tail everyday im telling him leave it out stop pulling on it he doesn't want to listen i am the only one who does his hair i need HELP
Hey my hair is thinning. What should i dooooo???
I combed mine out because of thinning. I would retwist them on my own weekly. I would get it styled often. I was obsessed with the neat look. I miss my dreads and I want to start them again. I am unclear from the video. How often should I have them tighten? If I don't retighten them what do I do just wash and leave them?
+momobyon Thank you. I like traditional locks though. Do you mean to interlock at the root only?
+momobyon Ok got it, thanks for your help.
Every week wtf ?!!!
Wash and let new growth come in
She never did post before and after pics 😏
yannie ,,, you're amazing! b ut your hands were in his head far too many times! :-)
I retwist every 6mos
Hi sista is it good to put Jamaican Black Castor Oil on your edges to make the hair grow back ??????? if so how often should u apply??
I put Jamaican black castor oil on my edges and I have seen more growth than usual, I would use it. I also use it to lay my edges down (apply the oil, wrap it with a scarf over night) and it actually stays
I cannot go any longer than 2 months between retwisting. My scalp gets SERIOUSLY sore and tender when I get too much new growth. I'm very light on products so product buildup is not the cause of the tenderness. I don't know what the issue is. I've tried scalp massages but nothing works. I stretch my retwisting sessions to every 1 1/2 to 2 months. Any longer that and I'm climbing the walls. If you have any ideas on how to make the pain go away? I'm all ears. Oh and I drink enough water, too.
rabbit0877 I have the same problem. and I also get scalp sores no bad but enough to not touch it. when you find out please tell me what is up with that?
Donna Perry I haven't found out, yet. No one seems to have an answer.
you could be having an allergic reaction to the products you are using. I found that sudsing agents in many shampoos caused my scalp irritation, tenderness, and dry scalp and hair. I switched to using Raw Black ash soap and a shampoo made from soap nuts (you can make your own too, but it's time consuming). I have noticed less itching/dryness and more natural oil production and moisturized hair with no additional product use. It's been a huge difference!

Am going to have to disagree on the baldness coming from 'neatness'. Now am not saying your hair won't pop from to much twisting. Yet, my easy had LOCS since he was 16 and up until he was about 22-23. An just by our own experience he started noticing his hair was thinning out in the same area that fellows hair was😤Let me remind you he hardly ever twisted his hair😳So he cut his hair at the age of 23🤔An noticed he was receiving 'going bald'😳I would tease him and say, Man you should of never cut your hair💈He's tried saving it but no luck..😟So sad lol I hear you say you go bald by your mothers side. Well my esh gets his boldness from his Fathers side. Thanks for the videos elder. Shalom🕊
