(thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

I believe this is the Jackson's Crossroads amethyst mine, a friend and I are actually planning to go there when they reopen :)
It is, I particularly don't like it because it's oversaturated and the shareholders get the first pick, so they get the best stuff and the people who come to mine get the scraps. You could find amethyst, but to find big ones that are deep purple are rather rare (speaking as someone who has gone mining there and mined for the whole day.)
@@itsraymond2295 My friend and I mainly want to experience the mining part of things, we'd be fine with just taking home with some small stuff. Since you've been there do you have any recommendations for how to prepare or of other mines in the area?

To anybody wondering, this is the Jackson's Crossroads amethyst mine near Tignall, GA. Normal digging rates are $35 per day.
And to everybody saying these are cut stones (😂😂😂), crystals are angular and have flat faces. Look up the crystal habit of quartz.

We live really close to Columbus GA and every time we are riding by the area they are always looking to see if they can find you filming in the river. Maybe we can catch you out there one day!

Pffffffftttt good thing you found crystals because im starting digging in muddy areas..and rocky areas too in our province
There is an area off Hansen Creek, Wash. near Mt. Rainier that has crystals. I was there once with a friend and we were digging under a dead trees roots (it was snapped off) when I grabbed a rock and tossed it behind me, and JUST before it left my peripheral vision I caught a flash of purple, turned, tracking the rock with my eyes and dived down the hillside, on my belly, keeping my eyes on the rock till it came to a rest. Cleaned it up a bit and it was a hand sized cluster of beautiful dark amethyst. The area normally only produces small clear points, but you get occasional amethyst points and clusters. Best find for me ever.
