    Hey there, just purchased the 2200 with manual frother. Coffee seems to come out a bit watery … espresso seems fine but coffee even in the highest strength is still watery. Coffee beans have been filled accordingly, activation of aqua clean and everything done perfectly …

    Is it possible to set it to be 90% coffee and 10% such regular coffee with a small addition of milk?

    Which way do I turn the knob to get finer grinds? Is it clockwise or counterclockwise? Is the extremely tiny tab to the left of the knob, on the inside edge of the coffee hopper the indicator for the grind size? If I follow the (what I suspect to be) indicator I need to turn the knob counterclockwise for finer grinds. However, the arrows on the knob shows that I need to turn the knob clockwise for finer grinds. This is confusing. Which is it?

      Hi, thanks for your message and interest. The right way to adjust the knob is this; when choosing the smaller dot, the beans get ground finer, which results in stronger coffee. In order to get it to the right setting, you'll have to turn the knob counterclockwise (the tab on the left side is the indicator). Please do keep in mind, that the difference in taste might only be noticeable after making a few cups of coffee, as the machine takes time to adjust.     Hi, does the milk frother only work for cappuccino or can i add milk to my regular coffee? If so how do i do so?

      It only works for cappuccino but you can always make cappuccino with ground coffee without actually adding any ground coffee. Stop the process once you are happy with the amount of milk in your cup. That way you don't waste coffee beans.

      Hello, thank you for your message and your interest in our product. We are glad to hear that you enjoy our video. To answer your question, there is no setting that can directly control the amount of coffee beans in grams that the machine can take. However, you can adjust the strength of your espresso by using the AROMA button on the front panel of the machine. The more beans you see on the display, the stronger the espresso will be. You can also use the grinder adjustment knob inside the bean container to change the fineness of the grind. The finer the grind, the more coffee will be extracted. Please refer to the user manual for more details on how to use these features. We hope this helps you achieve your desired espresso.     Very nice machine! I have it for 3 months now and am starting to use only that machine from the others 8 machines i have! The only problem is that i want an option just to make me some more foam milk because my wife drinks latte and not a cappuccino. (I know that we can trick the machine to do more foam with the ground coffee trick) but i would love a simple button for extra foam for the money we buy it:)

Das Rädchen oben zum Einstellen des Mahlgrades ist beschriftet und am linken Rand neben dem Rad ist der Indikator, der Dir zeigt welcher Mahlgrad gerade eingestellt ist. 2. Eine Schutzfolie für die Abtropfschale gibt es nicht, wir haben aber noch nicht die Kritik gehört, dass diese durch Tassen zerkratzen würde. Sollte die Abtropfschale jedoch kaputtgehen kann die Abtropfschale im Zweifel nachbestellt werden. 3. Das kommt ganz auf das Klopfen an, das können wir so ohne weiteres leider nicht beantworten, wenn Du willst, kannst Du uns aber eine Direktnachricht auf Instagram oder Facebook schicken, dann können wir uns das genauer anschauen/anhören. 4.     Great video! We bought the machine a month ago and we are pretty satisfied but cannot get the perfect espresso out of it. Could you please advise what is the best combination of settings in order to produce the best espresso that this machine can produce? Now the grinder is on 4 (from 12), Aroma strength is on 3 (max), Drink quantity is on 1 (min). But the espresso is still slightly watery and has a slightly burnt taste. Please help.

    Is it necessary to fill the hopper with beans to do the initial rinse? I didn't because the instructions didn't call for it and the rinse didn't work.

      @@Philips Hi, thank you for such a quick response! My machine just has the milk frother, not the LatteGo. It's brand new right out of the box (so I'm assuming there's no cleaning needed at this point) and I'm doing the "Rinsing the machine" step in the "Before first use" in the instructions. Only a few drops came out of the coffee spout and nothing out of the hot water spout. The water tank is filled to the line and definitely pushed all the way in.

      Hi Reme, thanks for leaving this comment. We're sorry to hear that the milk of your espresso machine is not sufficiently hot. To adjust the water temperature, please follow these steps:
      a) Press the on/off button to switch off the machine.
      b) When the machine is switched off: press and hold the coffee quantity icon until the lights in this icon go
      on.
      c) Tap the quantity icon to select the required temperature: normal, high or max (respectively 1, 2 or 3 lights are on)
      d) When you have finished setting the coffee temperature, press the start/stop button.
      e) Press the on/off button to switch on the machine again.
      We hope this helps! Regarding the temperature of the milk, this unfortunately cannot be adjusted via settings. The milk should be simultaneously heated when using the LatteGo milk frother.       Hello Irvin, thanks for your question. The 2200 series can make Espresso, Cappuccino, and Americano. To brew a cappuccino, please fill the milk in the milk container, and press the corresponding drink icon on the control panel. We hope this helps!

    Just got this machine. Any way to get rid of the strong plastic taste/smell? It's very obvious when you select hot water.

It is normal that there is a strong plastic smell/taste when using the device for the first time, since the device is completely new.       @@Philips I have had a Krupps espresso maker since 2005. I use it twice per day. I still taste and smell plastic smell even though it is BPA-free. I pour it over plants but will not make coffee without fresh water

    There is one bold minus that crosses out all the advantages. Each time after switching on, the system is washed, a certain amount of water is poured into the pan, and the washing water remains in the system. Then, when you start the preparation of the drink, before serving coffee, the remnants of water that remained in the system after washing are poured into the mug, and then coffee immediately enters there.       ? That’s clean water lol. All machines do that. I have a De Longhi of 700€ and it’s the same. The alternative is the water going back into the water tank…which is the same.

    Hi. I have a problem. Lately the water doesn' t come out from the coffee spout but ends up inside and under the machine. One cup of coffee is normal and the next one is only half amount . And during the switch on and off the water goes inside the machine. Thank you.

A coffee type must be selected first, so that the milk can be added afterwards. We're sorry that we can provide you with different news, but we hope this explains the situation.

    Dear Philips Team,
    I ordered this machine a month ago. Unfortunately, the milk foam? (i guess) is not really good. We tried everything with different typ of milks (fat, less fat, no fat) and all the time it came straight form the fridge. We are very dissapointed with the poor quality of the foam, because we saw many videos before buying and it look much better on video than in Person.

      Hi Simon, were you able to fix your milk foam? I have the same problem. On marketing materials like this one foam looks like an inch thick, but in reality it is just poured milk. I'm thinking about returning the machine...

      @@TheMegaCburn After some tinkering I've found out that what works best for me is: cold high fat milk, long narrow glass. Even when making 1 cup of cappuccino, milk has to be topped all the way up top in the milk container. I've also rinsed the milk container for few minutes in hot water just to make sure no milk residue is dried there. Foam still doesn't look like on marketing materials, but it's better now.

      @@Philips I tried programming the cappuccino but the milk frothing stopped by itself BEFORE I pressed stop/start button (and then the coffee started pouring). Even in the programmable mode, there is no way to adjust how much milk is being frothed? (There was enough milk in the contained but the machine didn’t use it) sorry, I dont use either twitter or fb and your customer line was unable to help me. They just said to reset the machine.

    The first time it was supposed rinse hot water before placing aqua clean , it didn’t do it for me 😢

    Okay so it didn't work
    I tried putting the water filter, the lights were in orange and flashing and it meant they were air inside the machine
    So i tried asking two cup of hot water as the guide said but it was impossible since i could only start the machine and the water wasn't hot or pourring clearly
    It's been two hours and i don't know what to do

      Hi Guiny, thanks for your comment. We’re sorry to hear you're having trouble with your EP2231/40. It sounds like there might be air trapped inside the machine. Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:
      1. Remove the AquaClean filter from the water tank.
      2. Fill the water tank with fresh water and place it back.
      3. Turn on the machine and let it heat up.
      4. Select hot water and dispense 2-3 cups of hot water. This should help release any trapped air.
      5. If this works, reinsert the AquaClean filter and dispense another 2-3 cups of hot water.
      If the problem persists, we kindly advise you to contact our customer service team through one of our social media channels, or the support page on our website. We’ll be happy to assist you further!

If so, your espresso machine will need some time to adjust: after brewing some more coffee, there will be an improvement in taste. If this is not the case, is the brew group cleaned regularly, and have you tried adjusted the aroma settings? We hope to hear from you.

      Hello Robert. We aren't sure, but we think you are talking about dispensing hot water? If so, these are the steps: 1) If attached, remove LatteGo or the milk frother, 2) Tap the hot water icon. The drink quantity lights go on and show the previous selected drink setting for hot water. After 3) Adjust the hot water quantity to your preference by tapping the drink quantity icon, and 4) Press the start/stop button. The light in the hot water icon flashes and hot water is dispensed from the hot water spout. 5) To stop dispensing hot water before the machine is finished, press the start/stop button again. We hope this helps!

      Just an idea, make x2 espresso then press cappucino after milk installation pres play button again it will stop I guess. Maybe you can try this way. Let me know if it is work

    there's a chronic problem with the milk bubble. cracks form in the plastic. They keep it out of warranty. 2 in 1 year. I'm changing times.

    After my odea giro honestly i'm dissapointed, just brought it home and found that i cant control the amount of milk i like to froth, or that i have to spend coffee in order to make a frothed milk cup (actually 2 cups of coffee) for hot choclate if i wish to. My teenagers like a lot of milk in their coffee, i like little, my parents even smaller amts. It's a pitty you cant control the amt of milk.

      A bit of extra button presses, but you can froth milk only by picking the pre-ground program (hold aroma/strength button for 3 seconds) but not putting any coffee in.

      Avez-vous vérifié si le groupe de percolation de votre machine à café est sale ou obstrué ? Enlevez le groupe de percolation, rincez-le sous le robinet et laissez-le sécher. Ensuite, lubrifiez les
      pièces en mouvement. Toutes les indications sont décrites étapes par étapes dans le manuel de votre appareil.
      Vous pouvez aussi régler le moulin pour changer la mouture des grains de votre café.

    Je viens de m’acheter machine, lorsque je fais un cappuccino, il n’y a presque rien dans ma tasse, ma quantité de tasse est au maximum…on dirait un espresso tellement il n’y a rien dans ma tasse…vraiment déçu…au prix qu’on paye je peux pas croire qu’on ne peut pas avoir un vrai cappuccino

      Bonjour Dom,
      Merci pour votre réponse. Il s'agissait bien de ce numéro, merci.
      Il y a plusieurs facteurs qui peuvent causer ce souci avec votre machine à café:
      1) Le filtre à eau AquaClean n’a pas été correctement préparé pour l’installation
      Je vous conseille de retirer le filtre à eau AquaClean, puis d'essayer de nouveau de préparer un
      café. Si cela fonctionne, assurez-vous que le filtre à eau AquaClean a été correctement préparé avant de le remettre en place.
      2) Le filtre à eau AquaClean est obstrué
      Il convient de remplacer le filtre à eau AquaClean tous les 3 mois. Un filtre qui date de plus de 3 mois risque d’être obstrué.
      3) Le réglage du moulin est défini sur une mouture trop fine
      Il faut régler le moulin sur une mouture plus grosse (numéro supérieur). Veuillez noter que cela influera sur le goût du café.
      4) Le groupe de percolation est sale.
      Dans ce cas, vous devez enlever le groupe de percolation et le rincez sous le robinet.
      5) La buse de distribution du café est sale
      Il faut nettoyer la buse de distribution du café et ses trous avec un nettoyeur de conduite ou une aiguille.
      6) Le compartiment du café prémoulu est obstrué
      Débranchez la machine et retirez le groupe de percolation. Ouvrez le couvercle du compartiment à café prémoulu et insérez-y le manche d’une cuillère. Agitez le manche de haut en bas pour faire tomber le bouchon de café moulu.
      7) Il se peut que du calcaire obstrue le circuit de l’appareil
      Il faut détartrer la machine à café avec le détartrant Philips. Détartrez toujours la
      machine si le voyant de détartrage commence à clignoter.

    Hello, I just purchased the Latte Go 2200- first off horrible name since it doesn't make lattes.. just watery cappuccinos. Very little milk come out and it's not frothy or creamy like in cappuccino or lattes. I am very disappointed in this purchase and would like to return immediately. The functionally of the machine dose not live up to the name or what this video shows in terms of frothy lattes. Very disappointed customer.

    современная машина без фиксатора фильтра для воды, который постоянно всплывает и никаких несколько минут под водой не помогают. Позор тем, кто разрабатывал эргономику устройства.
