He's so young, jeez! Of course he's more dramatic and maximalistic and into himself (I don't think it's bad, it's only natural). Give him some time and he'll blow you mind.

Not necessarily. Look at Terrence Malick. Or George Lucas. Or Stephen Spielberg. Those guys have tremendous talent but they don't parade it around like this Dolan guy.

+King -- please tell me what you mean by "self-indulgent" -- do you mean he is full of himself? My sense of Malick is that he has a perfectionist streak and he is extremely persistent in following his creative vision. But are you telling me that he is insufferable when working with his crew and actors?
+Noe Berengena: Dolan isn't narcissistic. He's extremply passionate about what he does. He writes, he directs, he performance. He's hands on on any project and if we're gonne translate that passion into narcisim, than what the fuck are we doing?
If I could this right: he was called narcissitc because he directs a movie he's in. I mean; so many actors do that, and now that's a bad thing? It's odd.

If they're talking about "Heartbeats", I wholeheartedly agree. I've never seen a film that made me want to rip my hair out and run up a flight of stairs screaming like Homer Simpson. "Laurence Anyways" and "Tom at the Farm" were vast improvements.

He is a decent direcor, definetely one of the better ones. But if u say he's some mastermind genious, u know nothing about filmmaking. I killed my mother was a good movie but still had a lot of flaws, especially when it comes to editing. Mommy was a masterpiece with great production, amazing shots, lighting, story etc. But other movies seem to play on the same note and his later work gets a bit repetetive. I would like him to come up with more innovative stories beacuase I think he has the ability and skill for that, so let's just wait and see ig. Edit: I just realized this video was posted 8 years ago so I'm sure some ppl in the comments have probably chanvćhed their minds or transformed their opinion to something corresponding to his more recent work.
never heard of him, never heard of the movie...almost all actors are narcissistic though. u'd have to be to withstand talking about yourself all day and looking at yourself. there are a few actors who have expressed discomfort about it, but generally speaking, they feed off of it.
he's a director...he does play in his movies tho. but I don't think he's narcissistic.
