Don't let the trees break your Beverage wires !

I get many trees down in my Beverage RX field. The Beverages are located in an "old growth" boreal forest of mixed deciduous and conifer trees. Lots of old tired trees ready to fall. This day there were four different wires down. Using a pulley and counterweight system is very helpful in my situation.
This downed wire was very close to the termination with the counterweight block and pulley system so it was an opportunity to video the system in action.

Steve , why is it that everyone has the counterweight at the far end of the Beverage? With the counter weight at the feeding point it would be easy to see that the wire has been cut off, when the weight falls down, would it not?

Indeed Timo, that is a VERY good point!! The counterweight could be at either end. Also, seeing if the counterweight has moved up is a very good way to check for down trees. Often that is the first thing I do. Thanks for the excellent suggestion!

Are you using anything special to hold your wires off the supporting trees? I used DXEngineering Beverage Wire/Ladder Line supports (#DXE-LL-INS) that work very well supporting my perpendicular BOGs. 73 - Dino KLØS
