Great show as artillery is my favorite aspect of the campaign. I had read somewhere that Pendleton had proposed in the Spring of '63 that the batteries in the ANV should be standardized, but was ignored. He also wanted captured Union guns to be turned over to him instead of remaining with whatever battery had taken them. Again, he was ignored. The man had his faults to be sure, but I can't help to feel bad for him at times.
Yeah they should have listened to him. They still would have lost the war, but mixed batteries never made sense to me. F pride. Make things make sense.
John J. Garnett probably is related to General Richard B. Garnett who was killed at Gettysburg. Both men are from the same area of coastal Virginia/Northern Neck and probably are at least cousins. Sadly, Garnett committed suicide in NYC in 1902.
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode ! Great to have a marine as a LBG especially with an interest in artillery 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I feel like the interviewee and the interview don't like each other
Lol we get along splendidly. Just saw each other the other day and had a nice conversation. We just have different styles of speaking.
