Great to see you up and at it bud. Mike maybe cut holes in the tote bottoms or at least double the center pallets.for more ventilation. Take it easy Mike. Don’t end up going back for second surgery. See ya.
I use a double layer of pallets on the bottom to get air under the pile. Plus it forgives for the bark and debris that falls into the pallets after a couple cycles.
Hey Mike , great idea . That wooden pallet in the middle . Use one of the metal sides off of a tote you cut for the back I believe you will plenty of air on the wood .👍🏻🇺🇸
I think the totes will work great. You might make some folks who have a hard time getting them cry watching you cut them up😂 You could also use the rest of the tote you cut out and push them into the ground with your tractor bucket to create walls for a shorter bin and just use pallets for the floor🤷♂️ Great idea Mike👍🏻👍🏻
Watching from south central Nebraska. Just happen to find your video. Looks like a good way to store the wood I'm sure you will make some adjustments as you go.
I think the totes will hold up just fine, I might have left closer to 3 sides on the side (not corner) totes. Then you would have more stability and the option of using them to dump the firewood into a trailer or something down the road. Obviously some of the wood would fall off but I think a lot of it might stay on there. I actually thought about using whole totes along the outside with skids in the middle. Just a thought, hope it works out for you Mike! Best wishes on a quick recovery! 😁
I think it will work. Should be able to test this with some Mount Woodmore wood in the loader bucket in the boiler corral. Keep the cocktails under ten pounds.
Good idea Mike. You can cut some vents in the tote bottoms for ventilation. Seen Chris in the woodyard do it. Just a thought. Think your design will work great 👍
One thing I've noticed about IBC totes that you may want to take into consideration, is the lack of airflow underneath them. The bottom rows of wood never dry properly because the bottoms of the totes are mostly solid unlike wooden pallets. Just throwing that out there! Edit: looks like you addressed that at the end, I commented too soon 😂
I like the concept! I'm using wood pallets- I have s few free ones. I'm going to put pressure treated runners on the bottoms.
Just make a corral out of IBC's. and a floor of pallets. You can fill the IBC's with out even cutting them, then fill in the corral you build.
It’s just a pain to unload a full bin
May try that.worried about the dead space in the corners. Take care.
What I would do. No reason to destroy good totes when a whole tote would make Good side walls just the same. Also save you all that cutting.

Thanks. Take care.
That will work great as long as the sides hold up. By the time you start taking wood off the top you will be good
Like some other commenters said, you might drill some vent holes in the tote bases. Looks like a cool plan. Keep healing up!!
💪😊👍
Mike Morgan does this all the time. Outdoors with the Morgans.
Great idea!! Wish i could get lots of totes for a wood crib like yours!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
I'm gonna need a pile lol. Take care
Great idea! You could take a hole saw and make a bunch of holes in the floor of the IBCs for added ventilation. I look forward to seeing it filled up.
Me too. Be interesting to see how they hold up b

That's a slick way to do it! I like it! Great job
Thanks!
Nice work! Always thinking ahead and working on efficiency, I love it...
I like it
Heck ya that will work! Great idea Mike 👍🍻👊
Thanks Jeremiah
Neat idea, Mike. I am doing something similar with fence posts and pallets.😉👍
Good idea Mike! Hope you're healing up good! Take it easy and be careful, gotta let that heal !
Nice job. Id drill some holes in the bottom tho so moisture doesnt just sit there

Nice job!!
Great Idea Mike!
Just wondering about using the cast off cage sides for ends of the middle pallet runs.

May try that. Was thinking about that myself.

Lol. I will. Take care.
We being good. Take care

Outdoors with the Morgans has been doing this for 4 years. It works well if you have a way to move them. you can leave the sides on.

drain holes in the metal bottom of those toots to get rid of water rain/snow melt
Drill 6
Or 8 holes in each tote base to drain water off and air up through wood
The idea should work as long as you have enough IBC totes. Hope your recovery is going well.
They say necessity is the mother of invention, I think boredom might be the aunt😅😅
Lol.
I see no reason for it not to work but i am no pallet corral expert😅
Like your plan why not slide the side pallets in and lay the wood pallets up on the metal bottoms.
say your IBC rich without having to say your IBC tote rich.
drill hole in the plastic
Ear muffs really
check out . Outdoors with the morgans. if you haven't seen their set up .
