I am an LSE graduate (1st and Masters) from the 1990s. The application process and courses have changed since I was there. We did not have to submit PS's, we had interviews instead. If you'd gone to LSE to study Government (my 1st degree subject) you would have studied Hobbes Leviathan because History of Political Thought was mandatory. Your video tips, describing how you had pulled your statement together - to describe why you wanted to study your subject, how you first became interested in it and what you have done by way of travel and reading to develop your interests all around a specific theme, provides a lesson in how to write a decent essay, not just an impressive personal statement.
Oooh I'm glad we didn't have to do interviews ahaha! Although it does make the personal statement a tad more stressful! Juan Moliner okay, I feel like this is a really common problem, once you’re under like 100 it’s really just a case of rephrasing and getting rid of unnecessary little words but if you’re 700 over it’s going to be cutting whole sentences. One thing you could do it get someone else to read it to you and see where your concentration/ attention wavers. That shows that that’s something you need to change. Also, if this is only your first draft I wouldn’t worry too much because when your school/college/ whoever is helping with your application reads it they’ll be able to advise you on what to cut- hope this helps!! xx

These are the things I’m thinking about doing : scouts, babysitting, mock trials, debate club, work experience , volunteering (I don’t know whether I want to continue with this as consistently I help run a young girls club). Also I really want to see if I can join my Scottish youth parliament but the elections are next year so idk 😔 any advice? I don’t want to spread my self too thinly but I have a lot of ideas of laws which could be changed and what we should add to the curriculum. I’m leaning toward becoming a solicitor, however I also interested in becoming a mental health councillor or teacher. In school I am doing advanced English, advanced modern studies and Higher biology. All advice appreciated hope everyone has a lovely day xx

First of all try not to worry (that’s maybe the most unhelpful advice from me ever but I’ll try to elaborate) It really sounds like you have everything under control- you have lots of ideas and ALREADY have lots of experience under your belt! What I would advise is to start doing all the things you want to then you’ll know more clearly which ones take up more time and aren’t that useful- you’ll also not regret not giving them a go. I was always wearing myself out by doing too much but I think the trick is saying no when it’s too much. If you want to do SYP then go for it- in my experience the earlier you start going up for election the better because you have more time to give it another go! It’s great that you have some ideas about future careers (honestly you’re doing better than me!) I think once you look into your uni courses it will become clearer which one you feel most passionately about studying at uni. Also you can always train as a teacher after doing your bachelors or even later in life so you’ll never rule that one out really! I hope I helped a little bit there- feel free to ping me any more questions xx

First of all - you're not dumb at all! Most people are exactly the same, and although I might seem like I have my life together, I also have no idea what I want to do in the future! Most universities aren't really bothered about extracurriculars, but are more focused on academics!

Hi! Have a look at some examples online, watch personal statement videos and eventually you'll start to get the idea of what needs to go in it and how to write critically!
I would suggest that you should write your personal statement as though you are speaking to a teacher. Grammatically correct and without slang but certainly not as elaborate as what was written here. The meaning gets lost in long and unnecessary words. It is a good statement, however, but overwritten at times.
Oooh potentially look at some UA-cam videos of people who study law at Bristol and Manchester to help a bit more. I think Shannon Nath studies law at Bristol so that might be a place to start!
