The Flash review of Ezra Millers latest outing in the DCU. Now we have the first days box office numbers we have early signs of how it will match tracking projections and it's not looking good when it's pulling in half of Ant Man Quantumania. But as Ezra Miller had to be hidden from the press before the release, there was a steep mounting to climb, and it didn't make it. As you'll hear in the review, the first hour focuses entirely on The Flash, 2 of them in fact, and that drastically pulls down the overall entertainment value. Luckily, we have Michael Keatons Batman and a very brief appearance of supergirl to help water down the Ezra Millers. The hype James Gunn tried to create for this movie, after having seen it, seems entirely unrealistic. Although having sat through the movie, it does make some of the critic reviews even more funny than previously. But what do you think of The Flash and what you've heard? If you've seen it did you have a different opinion? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

They had the sense to cancel Batgirl but not the sense to cancel the movie that leads up to that trash.
You know, if I was a DC exec, I'd release this movie as a radio serial / audiobook.
You can have all the voices of the actors, but this movie looks like they too Joss Whedon's Justice League for all the backgrounds. There is no contrast at all. The scene is well lit but the color correction and saturation is not right. Supergirl's white dress appears off white, the batcave is blue, Grant Gustin's suit looks better than Miller's.

But to have a Flashpoint story without Reverse Flash while the plotline is turning back time to save his mother is just way off. And Keaton should have been Thomas, not Bruce, very weird choice. There was no need to have two Barry Allens, it is not good character development.

If you ignored all the technical problems the key issue is the plot. The key point of the story is that this is a variation of Flashpoint where the Flash goes back in time and saves his mom resulting in disastrous consequences and in the end has to undo it in order to save the multiverse. The only difference is that Flash LEARNS NOTHING at the end because after undoing saving his mom he goes and changes history to save his dad resulting in a different mess. The movie ends with him basically stuck in the timeline of George Clooney's Batman with his real father still rotting in jail in his old timeline. This is a terrible ending and totally ruins the character and the movie.

I hate the 'fixed point in time' plotlines. If you continued to go back in time you would win unless it is as badly written as the literal joke episode of Supernatural where Dean dies from literally everything yet the day resets when he does die. In a serious plot, each time you go back you learn something new about your circumstances and can continue to correct the flaws. Even to the point that Flash could start bringing others in such as going back just far enough to locate other powered people in hiding such as any of the Amazons or any of the Atlanteans - the problem is that younger Barry doesn't know these people even exist and older Barry just quits since it's in the script for him to do so. What probably should've happened was older Barry quits and decides to let his tragedy happen only to be blindsided by the war torn younger version of himself. Instead of fighting or arguing, the two Flashes return to the 'present' to see that the Dark Flash has gathered literal leagues of other heroes to fight alongside the two they started with. Now, if this is the way it happened, the film wouldn't be able to say 'our tragedies make us who we are' but instead the message could 'never give in and never give up' or 'fight until the very end'. Personally the latter two hit way harder than the former, but to do it right we'd need good writers...

If this had been the first time with Ezra as The Flash people might of bought the hype but he wasn't very good in Justice League. People questioned the decision giving him a solo movie even before all the crazy stuff. Momoa has talent and presence, Gadot has warmth and a likeable quality, while Ezra is just a creepy person that can channel that into creepy roles.
