Ashley Imani No problem, Ashley! Things are going well! I just received my graduation name book in the mail this past week, which was nice. Given that math interventionist and specialist positions are rare in the area I live (and in general, really), I’m just keeping my eyes open and waiting patiently for the right opportunities to open up. In the meantime, I have my feet in both the tech (webdev) and ed worlds and am excited about moving forward on the right path in both! But patience is definitely key when it comes to choosing the best career path opportunities. You don’t want to get stuck in the wrong place, going in the wrong direction (I learned that the hard way from previous rushed decisions related to jobs!)
Can you transfer courses from this uni to a regular school? Eg I get my degree there will their certificate transfer to a state university for a masters?
Each school has different requirements for transfer credits, so you’ll have to contact each school individually about what credits they are able to accept for transfer from your transcripts.
Jeggz Z For the credit units, you have to enroll in a minimum number of units per term. However, if you happen to finish the minimum before the term is over, you can continue on with as many units as you can get through while you’re still enrolled in that term.
your videos are very helpful, I'm starting wgu Texas in a few months, b.s accounting/mba program. question, if one fail the competency, do you have to take the course over, and how many times can you take the competency exam?
Hi Billy! I'm glad you are finding the videos helpful! I addressed your question concerning competency in video 6. I will go ahead and recap it here as well, just in case it's more convenient or if others could benefit from a written explanation here. From my understanding, you do not have to redo the entire course, but you should review whatever it is you are having challenges with before re-taking the test. I believe that you get 3 chances to take the test. For performance tasks, you make changes to the assignment as needed and resubmit when you think you have addressed the problems. One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that the graders give you very specific feedback using a rubric which I found very helpful. For the tests, I would think that you would get feedback in terms of which area(s) you need to brush up on, but I'm not 100% sure. Once I take the test for Research Foundations, I'll be able to share for sure from my experiences. Anyway, congrats on starting your degree soon, and let me know if you have any other questions!
Hi, I'm planning to transfer to WGU; how do you find the proctored exam? Is it overwhelming and intimidating? Also, what degree are you pursuing? I am planning to take Human Resources Management.
Hi Janet! The proctored exam that I took was accessed through the student portal once I received access to that; I am thinking it should be the same for your program. I was in the Mathematics Education (K-6) program. HR seems to be a nice career choice based on my friends' experiences. Good luck with whatever route you choose!
TheObongawan Hello! For my specific program (Math Education K-6), there are 10 courses. I am not sure if all programs have that many courses, so you’d have to look at the program(s) you’re interested in specifically to find out about your particular programs of interest.
Thanks for the update! Greatly appreciate it. Looking forward in more videos n updates as I am trying to persue the education field as well. 😉
thanks for sharing info about your journey! How are things going now?

Ashley Imani Thank you, Ashley! 🙂

Do you get to pick what class you want to take? Or does someone select the class for you? Could u give a detail example of the type of HW?

How does that whole credit units work? I think that’s what it is called!
