Your mum is so amazing, really patient and supportive of her son. 👍 This 10 minute video must of taken hours of prep, shooting & editing. Content creation is not easy 😭 keep up the good work.

What a supportive mom, once I tried with my husband who is a chef, so … it didn’t go well, because as for his job things move fast, and as for
Me it was impossible to catch everything so I told him to stop and redo it again, again , and again! He lost his patience! So second time it went much better!

Enjoyed the video and subscribed! One thing to note is Daniel always shows the final video edit first to hook the audience with the "how the heck did he do that" and then explains the planning and everything. Just a small thing, other than that great video!

Good first attempt! I've been trying a few new things in my last two BBQ videos and want to step up my game overall. It def. adds a lot of time, but I think the outcome is worth it. Keep working at it!

good video, it takes lots of time to produce videos and a supportive patient person to help!! I want to try to replicate that as well once I find someone to help in baking 😄 I recommend to include only one cake at the end and to have a slower transition in the part of taking the butter from the table. But good job 👏👏

Quick advice for you: Stabilization, Transitions, and more more more focus on your frame bro. "Redo" is a good idea take your shots and see how it goes then decide if there is a need to redo.

Opinion----the knife cutting sound during butter should be at the place were u r cutting hard objects like onion or something like it, not butter its soft

You should have tried to stabilize the video. The rest, for a beginner, looks good to me

Thank you very much for a cool and informative video. I have two questions for you if you could answer. That means a lot to me as I have just started filming b-rolls.
Do you always use Manual focus and set the point where you wanna focus on at the end of each cut ? If you use auto focus when is the best scene to use it?
You talk about the transition and as far as I know, you match the camera movement from one scene to another. However do you also have to match camera movement with objects' movement?
For example, let's say you whip down for one scene so the next scenes starts from whipping down and object also has to start moving with any down movement?
    Have a good one !

    • @DylanZhou

      Glad you liked it!
For the first question, usually manual focus is better for these B roll type sequences (if you use auto focus, and the focus is changing through the scene, it’ll look unprofessional). You should definitely end on a subject in focus and you can also start in focus depending on what the shot is. The middle can be not in focus but if you do a speed ramp no one will notice.
For the second question, I think it makes sense for the camera movement to match the object’s movement if the object has a primary direction of movement. There’s no rule there though, so whatever looks good is good. You can also combine camera movements at the beginning and end of scenes - see the one that starts horizontal then goes up with the eggs.

@@DylanZhou @Dylan Zhou I kinda get it now. Just one last thing please to make sure that I am on the same page. So you are saying that if your main person (or object) has an initial movement that matches with camera movement that would be really smooth when combined instead of just matching the camera movement.
For instance, one of the scenes in your video when you whip right then tilt up, if the throwing action was involved before cracking eggs, it would be also nice to match that movement and camera movement (hands moving in the air and camera tilting up as you did tilt up for the last scene before cracking eggs @8:25)
I have watched your broll again and now I came to realize you were doing exactly what I was talking about @8:16 -ish when she puts bowl down on the table and you tilting down the camera and also the last scene ends with tilting down camera movement)
      Thanks a lot !

I was using Premiere Pro (there’s a free trial for a week if you can’t get it for free), but there’s also iMovie and I think a free version of DaVinci Resolve. Good luck! Let me know if you have other questions!
