    Hey man, really appreciate your videos and I hope you continue to share you knowledge with us!
    I was wondering if at some point you could do a video explaining how you choose which type of pad to use when starting a job. The different between using a foam pad and a microfiber pad with the Jescar or with the menzerna products.
    Again thanks for all the helpful videos!

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  4 роки тому +3

      Thank you for the video idea! Those are really good questions! I’ll Try to get something up for you!
      For now, I only use the micro fiber pad when there is no oxidation on the surface and I just want to apply wax or jescar sealant!
      I’ll use the grey or orange lake country force foam pad with wax or jescar sealant when I need todo a light amount of cutting to work the product in if the surface has light oxidation.
      I personally never really use micro fiber pads for correcting, never really liked how they work on my flex.
      The orange and grey force pads from lake country are great for removing light oxidation, and removing swirls marks!

    Hey bro, I'm brand new to this world of detailing I've been watching your videos all morning. Now if I can pick your brain. Long story short using jescar didn't take oxidation off. @DrakesDetailing  4 місяці тому

      Hey bro! Jescar won’t take oxidation off. If you’re looking for something quick, I would try chop top compound by shine supply with a yellow pad, then follow up with a dual action polisher with wake up, polished by shine supply, then Jescar powerlock.

    Can u give me a rundown on the polishes you use and have u ever tried 3m Marine polish good stuff it's a one step does amazing work but back to my question bout polishes I been a Detailer for over 25 years and I started doing boats around 2 yrs ago I love it just want to know more about the tedious things steps on how to correct certain finishes cause not every boat is the same certain polishes work better on certain colors there's just alot to know when it comes to Detailing I dig your informative videos I. Can totally understand and relate to your ways I find that your thinking is identical to mine it's good to see someone u can relate orknow what he's saying in the world of Auto and Marine Detailing

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  4 роки тому

      I have Tried 3m and it is pretty good! There are a lot of good compounds and polishes out there! A lot of the time it comes down to personal preference and depending on what products you are comfortable with and know how to use. A lot of products break down differently and cut differently so It comes down to knowing how to use certain products and also what you’re comfortable with. I typically stick with Ardex products and menzerna products only because I have used them for years and I know how to work them very very well. Not saying that they are the best product out there but I know how to use them and I know what to expect and the results I get are always consistent because I know how to work the products.

    I just bought a Shurhold pro oscillating buffer. Super heavy. Also, I have a hard time finding wool polishing pads. Would you do a video on polishing pads? I’m new to the business, and used wool on my own boat: 3M cutting pad and polishing pad. Shurhold sells mainly sponge pads that are expensive and don’t work as well as my wool pads. The pads for the pro buffer are all sponge. Not sure why. What are your thoughts on which pads work best for which application?

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  4 роки тому

      That’s would take a lot to explain! It’s a much need video and I will make it! Give me a few weeks!
      Short answer is foam pads are more for polishing and waxing and wool pads are for cutting oxidation out.

    Bro why is it so hard to find a heavy cut compound lol. Tried finding ardex 600, cant find it in stock. Can't find the one you recommended on your one topside video. Is 3m heavy cut going to do the job on a faded topside? I have some wizards turbo cut that got recommended to me by a lot of body shop guys but dont see people use it in the boat industry

    Drake, great video as always. I want to start detailing my own boat and your videos have been great. My hull has been painted. All your videos seem to discuss cutting, polishing, and waxing Gel Coated Hulls. Is there any difference in the process for a painted hull? Thank You and I look forward to more videos. Ken

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  4 роки тому

      Paint isn't much different except when it comes to sanding. Compound, Polish and Waxing are all the same. Sanding is the only thing that needs to be done differently, But 9 out of 10 you shouldn't need to sand paint.

      @@DrakesDetailing Thanks for the reply. My paint has a good amount of oxidation. It's not chalky when I rub my hand on it. But when you shine a light on it at night you can clearly see the oxy. Do you think I can get by without sanding? If not how is the process different. BTW, I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but I have been purchasing all your recommended products through your links. I've spent over $1200.00 so far and I'm sure I'll be needing more. Thanks again for your help, your how to videos are extremely helpful for a first-timer like me.

    Have you ever used the 3M Perfect-It products? I know they are expensive, but are they technically better than the Shine Supply products?

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  Місяць тому +1

      In my opinion, 3M is very behind the eight ball with products. They were really good 25 years ago, but the detailing industry has come such a long way and they are still stuck back in those days. Shine supply a lot better and depth of shine IMO. They are good products! However, other products have still come a long way.

I picked up some 3M perfect it light polish and wax and tried using it but it really didn’t achieve good results. What do you like using for DEEP rust stains? Just did a 39 contender that had really deep rust stains on the motor mounts on the transom and they just laughed at the rust remover I had. Also, how do you compound around tight areas that you cant get a machine in? TIA!

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  3 роки тому

      Deep rust marks usually have to be wet sanded out or compounded with a wool pad. I usually like to just hit it with 2000 grit sand paper and polish it back out. As for tight spots, use the flex pxe80 with 1 inch pads, or by hand.
