Cambodia news update, 29 December 2021 - Pfizer & Molnupiravir have arrived. Bad monkeys banished!

- Today is Wednesday the 29th of December 2021. The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has begun selling Molnupiravir capsules. It’s great to see another weapon alongside vaccines in Cambodia’s fight against Covid because as of today, Cambodia has identified 33 cases of the Omicron variant.
The Prime Minister has recommended that frontline health workers be given a second booster or fourth dose. Australia’s donation of 2.3 million Pfizer vaccines has arrived in Phnom Penh and the Prime Minister said these will be given as the fourth dose to front-line workers. He said the target is to vaccinate 500,000 front-line officials, such as armed forces personnel, civil servants, teachers and more importantly doctors, with the fourth dose.
Meanwhile in Thailand, they’re also going fourth dose for medical staff, front-line public health officers and people with low immunity.
Here at For Riel news HQ we have seen anecdotal evidence that the Moderna vaccine is available in Phnom Penh at Intercare clinic for $25. This is a private clinic. This is not part of the public vaccine roll-out and will not be added to the official records held by the Ministry of Health or Ministry of Defence but the clinic can provide a certificate if required. Other reports suggest that right now there are some doses of Astra Zeneca in Siem Reap, available under the public roll-out.

For those new to our channel, my videos focus on experiencing Cambodia as an Australian with my Khmer wife (Kinal) - We get pretty raw and immersed in local daily life with insights from Kinal on all things Cambodia. We don't take things too seriously and have bucket loads of fun along the way! We have a 4 month old (so vids are slow going at the moment) but plan to travel back to KH in the new year - which will make for some interesting content i'm sure!! Cheers!

Unfortunetly, I had to postpone my trip due to the fact that I cannot find a place to do a RT-PCR test and give me the original signed copy of the results that Cambodian Immigration require.
This is on top of being rejected for the Thai Pass because of a mistake I made. I mean, some of the requirements are quite vague.
It was denied on the 23rd Dec and on the 22nd they closed down the Test and Go.
Next attempt, Phuket sandbox and hopefully I can do something before my Cambodian Visa is expired.

Yes Cambodia's requirement for a wet ink certificate causes issues for a lot of people, and the Thai Pass system seems to be full of glitches too. Yes as far as I understand it, there is no difference between airports in terms of process.

Hi Noah, I'm not sure but I think you will be forced to isolate, either in a hotel or in a hospital, and you'll be required to pay at the end. I'd suggest joining the Cambodia Visa and Work Permits Group and reading the information there as many have gone before with the same question. Thanks so much for watching.
Hello Claire! I don't understand why you're still in Phnom Penh. I thought Australia's borders are open for nationals and residents (IATA C19 Travel Regulations Map). Maybe you decided not to return to Australia for other reasons...
Hi, thanks for the interest. Australia is open but we need to return to the state of Queensland. At the moment that state still requires 14 days quarantine, and Australia has only just recognised the Sinopharm vaccine that we have had. It isn't easy to get into Australia even for fully vaccinated citizens. 🛵🐒🏩🌴🛵

Here is the information. I don't know if there is an authorised clinic in Siem Reap. This information is from the Cambodia Visa and Work Permit Group - suggest joining that group in case there are changes or updates.

Good Morning, I never miss your videos as I have been to Cambodia many times now. I have my next ticket booked for next June, however as you will know Qantas does not run a direct flight so I must go via Singapore or Bangkok. I am unable to get any information at all about Singapore, twice now I have written to the Singapore embassy in Canberra, they just refer me to a Singapore government website, but when I log on the site does not open, can you suggest a site that will keep me up to date?

Singapore has transit flights with the usual pcr test result document but entering Singapore is the same as many countries yes/no/maybe. 6 months ago the embassy replied to me. Also phoned singapore airlines who I was using and they told me the rules before I booked a flight. Christmas/new year holidays now?

I think by June everything should be ok. Singapore Airlines closed its VTL flights for January a little while ago, and that might be causing a big volume email and phone traffic to their service centres. Sorry I can't be any more helpful than that.

Is it normal in Phnomh Penh to ignore traffic signs (at 0:45 sec), you as a non-Cambodian should know better and be an example to the world !
No, I was just following other people and totally missed that sign. That street is not really a street anymore, it's more a shopping isle. People in mass ride up and down it so that sign is redundant. I do stop at lights, wear a helmet and never drive drunk, but thank you for your eagle eyes.

what happens if the day before your departure you test positive for covid? Will that mean 14 days quarantine
Do you mean if you visit Cambodia and test positive before you leave? I think you would just self-isolate until you test negative then try again. But I'm not sure.
@@ForRiel yes before your departure. You would then miss your flight. You would then need to find and fund a hotel in which to isolate.
Much as I would love to fly to Cambodia there are many risks involved.
