Okay, planner people! Tell me about your planners! What do you use, what's your favorite thing about them?

  • @alisawing

Your 'its' fine, it's not a big deal' after making a mistake and trying to cover it with a sticker was a mood. That's me all the time. I'm always afraid to use the sticker in the 'wrong' place, or make a mistake with a dark coloured ink. But 2022 is the year of No More Hesitation for me and your new channel is so inspiring! My birthday is Sunday and my wish list has gotten looooong thanks to you.

It’s weird how there can be so much pressure over something so small! Over time, I’ve figured out ways I like to fix mistakes and in general, just scribbling things out is fine with me (especially with fountain pen inks I love!).

Now that I am an "almost empty nester" with a career that is slowing down towards retirement, my planning needs are more personal than work-related, so I was drawn to bullet journaling because it allowed me to customize and focus on Lists, which I make daily! I make my own inserts (using scrapbooking papers/cardstock, better quality printer paper and my sewing machine) and mostly decorate my pages with rubber stamps, brush lettering, and some washi tape. I even created my own calendar template on Word, and I add dividers and pockets made from envelopes or cardstock to hold my Lists. I have an insert for my calendars, an insert for collections (Birthday/Christmas gift ideas, Movies to Watch, Books to Read) and an insert for Goals/Planning (trackers, budget & savings, RV/Camping/Vacation Checklists.) I even make my own planner covers out of faux leather upholstery remnants (otherwise I would spend way too much money on those gorgeous leather ones from Galen and Chic Sparrow!) I love being able to customize and size my pages how I want them, even if they're not "fancy." If I get tired of the cover, or it wears out, I just toss it and make a new one! Love your videos--you have great energy and ideas--I am learning so much from so many here on You Tube! Keep them going!

That sounds amazing and so creative! I’ve thought about creating the inserts I want for my journal since I wasn’t able to find exactly what I needed. Yours sound really lovely! I took more of a bullet journal approach back when I was a full time creator and things were less consistently planned as well.

The Hobonichi Planner looks adorable yet scary? (Not sure how to describe it) I tend to gravitate towards journals/notebooks that are A5 so maybe that's why lol c: Regardless, you made yours super functional and super cute! I love the chocolate pudding ink (I think that's the one you used), it just looks so good on that paper!
That dot pen is so adorable! I also thought of a cute idea the moment you said you weren't sure what else to use it for. I think it would be adorable if you turned those dots into little suns! You could get a thin black pen and trace the circle and add some lines to give off a doodled ray of sunshine! It also works if you accidentally put it somewhere because you could just turn it into a sun to fix it!

I haven’t been able to keep up with the uploads here because I usually play UA-cam videos in the background while I work, but these require more attention. I am always happy to come back and catch up though! I love these types of planner set up videos. I always come out with more ideas for my own journal. And I just love your journaling style. 🧡

I appreciate it when channels have a clear schedule and I try to watch your videos within the first 2 or 3days. Honestly I think once a week is a better rhythm because some creators tend to burn through great video ideas fast and over work themselves. I prefer less videos in a month but consistent releases. I am enjoying this channel and hope you are very successful with it.

First, I love that you post regularly! I love your content. :) I've been using the Hobonichi weeks for about 5 years. It's mostly a functional planner for me, I don't use tons of stickers. And I don't have a ton to plan - I only use it for my personal life, for work everything is in Outlook - so I find it's just the right amount of space. And I love all the places for notes and lists.

I am starting to understand why Hobonichi are so popular, but at least for the rest of the year I think I'll stick to my own bujo set-up. I enjoy set uploading days, but I always turn on notifications so it doesn't really matter to me whether or not someone has a set upload scheduele :). I do feel like I have a mighty need for some of the cute stamps like the ones you use! :)

I bought my first Hobonichi Weeks this year to use as a Gratitude Journal. I write one thing I’m grateful for in the ‘weeks’ section and collage on the opposite page when I get around to it. I use the pages in the back for recording additional things I’m grateful for if it’s been a really good day. :) The Weeks is small enough that I can carry it around with me if I’m feeling particularly anxious that day and need some comforting reminders.

Hi, your video came up in my feed, and saw that it was about the hobonichi weeks! I had to check it out, since I use this planner too. I just started my 2nd spring start weeks, and I can't imagine using anything else. I like the size, the paper, layout, and it suits my style of planning well. Last year i used the right side of the weeks as an art journalling spread, and it got very bulky. I decided to buy an a6 to add collage and sticker elements to and stick to a very minimal design for my weeks planner. So far I like that better.

I just recently discovered your channel and am so enjoying it. Still have more to watch but am also looking forward to upcoming videos.
This is my first year using a Hobonichi Weeks and it's perfect for me at this stage of life as my EDC. I ended up purchasing the Mega with extra note pages so that I could contain everything I need but still be lightweight. Too often I've been somewhere and couldn't recall what colors of Tombow markers, TH Distress Inks, Stains, etc. I already had - sometimes resulting in purchasing duplicates. I use Sterling Ink, Paper Minty, and MU Lifestyle rub-on stickers to decorate along with washi. After watching your videos, I'm going to have to try Versa Magic ink pads to use with my stamps. Thank you for another wonderful video!

As far as watching goes, I usually watch the day of, and I almost always speed the vids up. Limited free time, doncha know.
As far as planners go, I custom design and print my own pages, then put them in an Arc leather cover I bought at Staples. Right now, a week covers 2 two-page spreads, because I wanted to leave space for a daily recap after each day. I've used it for a couple months now and found out that having a week on one spread is more important to me than having daily journal space, so I'll be redesigning the pages when I print out May's sheets.
I've used custom pages for 15? years and love how they work for me, but this is the first year I've tried to combine my weekly appointment book with my habit trackers and other stuff, so it's taking me some time to get things dialed in.
The Hobonichi Weeks planner looks super cute! Depending on how the daily pages look, I might want to try one next year.

Welcome to the dark side! 😈 Gorgeous Weeks you have. I think this is the last year I'll be buying one because I'm just not using it enough to justify the cost, but I love them so much... aesthetically. I'm really only using this year's for bill tracking even tho the intent was to use it for work and "business purposes."
I'll be very surprised if you don't wind up getting a clear cover. Almost everyone I know starts off with it being unsheathed but depending on design, if it's heavily used, you may want to protect it.
    Enjoy!!!

Haha thank you! I’ve been using mine a bunch since I manage a lot of work tasks every week. At the moment, I have it in a Chic Sparrow TN since I realized that it fits a personal size one I already have, but it doesn’t leave my desk.

Hi! It’s the Hobonichi Weeks and this particular fabric is the Liberty Fabrics Joanna Louise. To get them outside of the twice a year releases Hobonichi does (since they’re dated planners), you can sometimes find people reselling them on Etsy. Here’s the listing on Hobonichi’s website, though theirs are sold out: www.1101.com/store/techo/en/2022/sp/detail_cover/wb22_libertyjlouise/
I got on the email list at JetPens so I was notified when these arrived. They tend to sell pretty quickly. My friend’s store sometimes does a group buy-in with their customers where they all split the cost to ship from Japan.
