not just Chris' technique. Just the phrase placement and the emotion of the music he creates is astonishing. Always. He's a true genius. seems to have a never ending vocabulary
chris potter is a unique tenor saxophone player, one of the greatest of the brilliant history of jazz tenor sax (and remember, we are talking about Coltrane, Webster, Hawkins, the great Pres, Paul Gonsalves, Frank Foster, Frank Weiss, Bob Berg, Redman, Shorter, Becker and . and. and ...)
Stop criticizing, they are already supporting the music creating the video. If you don't know already, Wayne Krantz on guitar, Craig Taborn on keys and Nate Smith on drums.
Wayne does pretty well for himself, though he's outclassed pretty seriously. Having trouble blending his sound and locking in with the other cats, who have a subtler sense of the groove. That being said, he delivers some pretty dope shizz on his solos!
Anyone feel like the drummer (who I'm sure is well regarded) is overplaying at times? Not sure if this the same as the original composition, but at times it doesn't really accompany Wayne Krantz's brilliant solo.
Chris Potter - Tenor Sax
Wayne Krantz - Guitar
Craig Taborn - Fender Rhodes
Nate Smith - Drums
you sure that isn't Obed Calvaire?
RickyVM hi ! No, it’s Nate smith with long hair ;)

Krantz is a funambolic player
Its almost as if he has a Rock fusion approach lots of these licks could be in a led zeppelin or rage against the machine album
Love Zep. Never Zep. More like Miles Live At Phil

It’s as though the bassist and keyboardist are the same person.
Craig Taborn on keyboard.

lol why would chris potter want him in his band if he was outclassed by the rest of the band
What a ridiculous take. Krantz is killing, here and always.
