Thx! POP1 has several different versions, perhaps you find a faster one. Afair there were differences. Yes Monkey1 is slow...it's also slow on A2286/6 even in EGA-Mode with an ET4000. But on XT it's way too slow to enjoy.
My father bought a 1000SX when I was a kid, and the early Sierra titles ran great on it. When they switched to SCI, performance went completely downhill. I bought myself a 1000TL when I was 15 (saved all my pennies!) and all the Sierra stuff ran great on it until they switched to VGA. Tech keeps on rollin'
Jim!!! :) I hadn't given CGA mode much thought, but yes, there is a definite improvement. Not only that, but the CGA (RGB) support is better than I'd expected, and the flashes of yellow and red are welcome breaks from the general color palette.
@@arnolda.lampel6087 I think you might be confusing it with PCjr; all RAM in the Tandy 1000 (if you have the RAM upgrade with DMA) is the same speed IIRC. In any case, the real speed deficit is slinging around 32K of RAM (16 colors) instead of 16K (4 colors), which is why I asked.
That is one of the best looking retro computers around. If only one could cram a 486 in there...

Fantastic Eric!
Question: How are you using the Mega Drive controller? Some kind of adapter?
Yep, one of the BoysonTech adapters.

Would POP be more playable in CGA mode? (I don't think so, as the game code isn't that optimized, but with any Tandy 808x system, I have to ask :-)

Nice. 🎉
