Last time I rode thru there the restaurant was closed up and abandoned looking.. it's been a few years.. but had to stop and snap a pic.. grew up listening to his music.. and the next 2 generations of good tunes!
Today I love you two even more, knowing that you are Hank Williams fans like me. I was very young (I am 79 now) when Hank died. My mom told me the news in our home in Joplin, Missouri. I was crushed as I loved his music from an early age, like “Your Cheatin’ Heart,” “Cold, Cold Heart” and “Jambalaya.” I very much appreciate this post, so thank you.
I love that song the ride it has a back story that a lot of people don’t know you don’t have to call me mister , mister the whole world calls me, Hank whenever David Allen Cole was a kid he had a radio on his bike and he heard Hank Williams songs and he told his mama he wanted to go see Hank Williams perform this was after he had died so his mama took him to Nashville to see his house and David Allen Cole knocked on the door and somebody let him in his whole family and David Allen Cole went down the hallway and Audrey Williams came out of the bathroom and showed David around the house in Hank jr room and jet Williams ‘s room and he said thank you for showing me Mr. Hanks house and she said you don’t have to call him Mr. Mr. the whole world calls him Hank
Hank died the year I was born. Always loved his soulful songs. Thanks for visiting his cemetery plot! I’ve been to all 50 states but cemeteries weren’t on my bucket list (until now)!
I live in England and will not be able to visit Hanks grave. Thank you so much for giving me this beautiful experience. Hanks sincere music touches everyone.
I needed a Grimm fix today!!! Might be corny, but I missed y'all!!! Thank you for this love, love, love Hank!!💜🖤🎃 P.S. Ghosties dnt forget to go vote for Grimm for the Rondo award!! #19 guys!!!
I'm 40 but when i was kid, my grandma would play Hank Williams in the afternoon on weekends. so anytime i hear him i think of my childhood with my grandma her talking about life
I've been there.. in 1998 .. playing baseball in the field right beside this cemetery.. I knelt down and touched his cowboy hat .. I will always remember that
I live an hour from Oak Hill. So sad how his life ended. My favorite song is There's a Tear in My Beer. In high school that was the song I'd play on the juke box. The lady working there would smile and say, You're an old soul, dear.
In the winter of 2008 i was fortunate to walk through the Hank Williams family exhibit at the Country Music hall of Fame in Nashville,Tn. ....you don't know how much of an impact Sr. and Jr. have made in the early days of country music's conception and how it still carries on decades later....its definitely something to experience.
As a young man growing up on a reservation my grandfather only listened to 2 singers, Hank and Johnny. All i ever heard growing up was his songs and him humming and singing along. Hank holds a special place in my heart and reminds me of him! Also a long time watcher and lover of the channel! Thanks for this vid!
So glad you did this video. Hank was known as the hillbilly Shakespeare. To me he is the greatest singer songwriter ever. He accomplished so much in 29 years. RIP Hank Williams.
I stopped by the cemetery a few years ago, and it was beautiful. So happy to see this featured. I’m a metal head, but definitely respect his legacy & his contributions to music. Cheers & safe travels :)
My father listened to Hank Williams when I was a kid, I know a lot of his songs, but in the fifty plus years I've been on this earth, never knew he died so young until this video, I just assumed he made it in to his forty's or fifties. Once again proves you're never too old to learn something new every day. As always you two, great job, always appreciate the scenery and your insight on people and topics.
Your films are the best of their kind anywhere on the net! Great research, presentation, photography, sound, editing, attention to detail and absorbing viewing throughout. Brilliant!
My Dad took us to see a Hank Williams Jr. show when I was a little kid back in the mid to late 60's. Hank Jr was so young at the time. He didn't have a beard and I seem to remember he wore a bright blue suit. The program from the show featured a section about his father and the circumstances surrounding his death and it even had a photo of that very car. My dad was big Hank Williams fan, so that show meant a lot to him. Thank you for this video. Rest in Peace Hank.
thank you michael for doing this video, there is alittle story about Hank williams that people have seen him at his grave. back in the 90's that green turf was not there as it was just Hank's grave. And in 1992 the country singer Alan Jackson wrote a song about Hank Williams it's called Midnight in Montgomery. take a listen if you haven't heard it, it also shows the original grave of Hank Williams. My mom still has a record of Hank Williams back from the 1950's. Hank was one of the original country singers, now that is gone and we have country pop not as good. RIP Hank..He's always singing there...
This is a very beauitful video. Hank Williams will always be remebered and never forgotten. Am so happy to see how much they did for him to keep his memory alive.
Great video. My dad is long deceased, but I can still hear and see him bursting into "Hey, Good Lookin'" or "Jambalaya" whenever the mood struck him. Such memories.
I love Hank Williams music too. My favorite song is ," I'm so lonesome I could cry and kalijah". That's his Ex- wife buried next to him. I would love to visit his grave someday in person. When we go down to visit my son down in Florida we always pass the exit. Maybe I'll live long enough to make that trip one more time. Thank you for sharing this video. I love it. ❤❤❤
This is kinda cool that yall want to come out here to see stuff. My boyfriend and I live in Tennessee and we'd love to take a trip to L.A. We want to go see where Jean Harlow is buried & of course see Marilyn. Also the walk of fame, the Hollywood museum, Venice Beach etc... ❤❤❤ R.I.P. To the great Hank Williams & family P.S. thank you grimmlifecollective

I didn't realize Hank Williams died so young. Such a tragedy. I am happy his family and fans created a museum. That Cadillac is beautiful. Thanks for the video.
You both are the embodiment of the expression, “Don’t judge a book by its cover “. I honestly wouldn’t have thought that you were Hank Williams fans simply by your other videos. You are both the most multifaceted people on UA-cam. Thank you for your fantastic work!
How strange, after we leave this World, we are placed in a More BEAUTIFUL, SENIC, Gated, Private Cemetary with BEAUTIFUL, Maintained, land that Most of us could Never afford to spend our Life in
My dad introduced me to Hank very early on in my childhood. He had a double cassette of his 40 Greatest Hits album. The sound coming out of that speaker was like something from another universe. It made an unbelievable impact on me. I'm still listening all these years later. The absolute number one country artist of all time, Hank Williams. For years, they used to have an entire segment of the CMA Awards dedicated to Hank and his music.
I played Hank for a year in the play Lost Highway. We sold-out everywhere and it was myself that had to end the run. Playing Hank in a full 2 act play was grueling. It was hitting rock bottom and I sang in real tears drunk to God that was so hard. I saved the white suit you can see in my photo for the final song I saw the light and all the actors came out in white. Ironically the feedback I got most was so many people didn't know he died at age 29.
Hank Williams is one of the all time greats--- he was the the back bone of Country & Rock, in my humble opinion... What a hard thing these guys did to go from gig to gig--- nothing cushy at all... An amazing man, and thanks, for taking us all along for another GriMM adventure..... all the LOVE... and Good Lookin' Happy Halloween ...... :^)""""""""""""""""
