He is by far the coolest character so far, and his animations are acually cool. The ninjas honestly look the worst they ever have when it comes to their designs.
Fun little detail at 2:32, Rain's staff goes all bendy and turns into water as he rises up. It's minor but I find that animation really neat.

I’m so happy that smoke has returned and that rain is a main character this time. Also Cryax, Skector and Frost as cameos are cool. Game is looking hella fun 🐉

Rain going from pseudo-ninja to water sorceror is really cool. Makes his character more distinct.
Smoke and Rain together in one trailer, with the cyber ninjas and Frost as kameos... Yeah, they knew exactly what they were doing! Nice to see more Sub Zero and Scorpion gameplay too 😂 Scorpion can now use get over here as a non lethal escape assist ahah

I'm pretty sure the knife Smoke is holding is a Karambit, traditional in Pencak Silat... might be an indication of the style Smoke uses.
I have a feeling rain had a normal childhood this time and isn't all bitter and twisted. The wizard fighting style makes me think edenian noble while the ninja fighting style fits the bitter rebel.
Rain looks like he has a bit of a watery warlock vibe. I kinda dig it,not to mention my boy Smoke finally being playable again AND a part of the story. Awesome.

I am shocked by Rain finally being playable in a game where he is also part of the story, and him being starting roster, so happy. I am so excited for it. He seems really cool. I am really excited to see what he is about. Smoke was a bit meh to me, hope we kearn more about Enrenra finally.

I'm curious what his relationship will be with MIleena. He was one of her consorts in the reboot timeline, but also kinda played her for his own purposes and she wasn't that happy with him. Does he still have a massive inferioirty complex due to being an Elder God's bastard son, is he still manipulative and out for himself alone, or genuinely part of a team this time? Will they keep him as his lovable backstabbing self or will he take a new path? As you say him being part of the starting roster AND at the same time as Mileena... could go a lot of different ways.

Smoke is finally back, I always loved this character, mainly because he is from my country and the same city. His short hair looks better than his long hair version. And his karambit is interesting choice of a weapon.
Passed thru Prague going to Romania a few years ago. The Karambit is the greatest cqc weapon ever made. And Smoke has been my dude since UMK3. I cant stop losing my shit over this!

@@100yrs7 I feel you but given how combo heavy the entire game is I feel they just didn’t show his full potential yet. He may be an excellent zoner while still having great combo potential but he may just be more kameo reliant for combos than other characters.

Whether they are characters to play as main or cameos is just so exciting to see them all return. Really excited for Smoke.
Whole lotta Lin Kuei in this game, seems like. I appreciate the decreased emphasis on special forces, that's for sure. Hoping they won't repeat the over-representation of one faction here again, but I imagine that'll be a lot less of an issue this time around, especially given how much more interesting the Lin Kuei is, even if that becomes a problem with the roster. Also, really love Smoke and Rain's designs here; makes them stand out even more amongst the other ninjas.
We need SF characters, just Jax & Sonya but we need them.
@@theoutlawking9123 Can't argue that; they're essential. I prefer diversity above all else; helps flesh out the world and makes it feel bigger than if one faction was a sizable chunk of the roster. It's one thing I'd give the Midway era credit for. There were tons of factions and characters doing their own thing alongside the main plot, and that helps a ton with worldbuilding & more unique characters in the roster.
@@fish4814 Yep, though I think they're in, this game's story is gonna be HUGE I feel, including a multi-story plot. You got the Lin Kuei protecting earthrealm with Bi-Han turning evil and Scorpion opposing him, Outworld with Their crap possibly with Reiko & Shao, both who are now generals trying to take over, Havik in there somewhere causing chaos, so that just leaves SF. I doubt Liu Kang would create a new timeline and not include all his friends, I mean Johnny is here and he doesn't even like johnny, Johnny's his least favorite, lol.
@@theoutlawking9123 Yeah; I'm hoping so. I already like the new backgrounds for some characters, ESPECIALLY Kenshi. Having him be Yakuza just feels so right. Looking forward to how that turns out.
@@fish4814 Kenshi was actually my favorite from the 3D era games, which were the first MK games I played. When MK9 came around and he was back, I was ecstatic, even with him as DLC. Then MKX came and he was just there in the story, I wanted him to get some shine man, especially after I saw he wasn't in MK11. But then they gave him his own animated movie with snowblind and when I saw that, I said yes, finally some recognition and with this updated backstory, the whole Yakuza thing, yeah man, HE'S EVEN MORE FUCKING COOLER NOW! Sorry, for the long post, he's just one of my favorites, lol, glad he's back!

2:19 the best reaction from Max on this video is seen rain in a brand new look which I'm going to be honest it looks like it's an upgraded version of his MKX outfit with just a hint of a wizard look to himself.
3:02 even though Max is cringing at the site of the x-rays and the fatalities are being performed what he's really saying on the inside this is... Beautful.
I like Smoke’s fatality, but I feel like there should be some smoke flowing from it he jaw at the end. Just to top it off.

Rain is probably going the JP of the game with all the zoning and they both have similar looking teleports.
I think the Scorpion assist "Get over here" does that to anyone in front of it so you can use it offensively against an opponent or defensively on yourself to get distance
Smoke looks like he can teleport to his knife. Which could be very cool if that is even the case. Almost a flying rajin type of move
I love how Kameos are more than just kombo extenders 😅

I do like the new Smoke design and the addition of a Karambit in his kit is a nice touch. Rain is gonna take some getting use to. Almost makes me think he's a replacement for Fujin but also not? Not sure why I think that. If the Kameos for Cyrax and Sektor are any indications maybe we get to have them back in full? Though I would like to see their human forms like in MK9 again.

We might get their Human forms as playable versions. Since the Lin Quei is a force for Good in this timeline they most likely never initiated tge Cyber Initiative.

NRS went hard with this first reveal giving us 2 playable ninjas and 3 ninja kameos. New Lin Kuei stage looks amazing, loving Rain's redesign and like how Smoke fits with the palette swap Lin Kuei approach Sub-Zero and Scorpion are rocking.
Highlight of the showcase by far though was Johnny Cage with the hype meter and dashes.
the game comes out in just over 2 months so theyll probably be revealing at least 3 characters each stream
Im so happy theyre bringing literally every ninja back in this game amazing reuniting since mk3 and they look alot like their og looks too so fire

Is Bi Han just destined to always turn evil? Like Liu Kang restarted a whole timeline for peace, and he’s already showing signs he could turn. I think the ending of this game might show Liu Kang that certain things can’t change no matter what you do. Certain conflicts are just destined to repeat.
Bi-Han wasn't completely evil in the original timeline, he had conflicted personality, but Ed Boon loves to make him a villain
Bi Han wasn't necessarily evil in either timeline, both times he basically had a cold personality that made him easy to corrupt (Even Quan Chi points out to Bi Han in MK Mythologies how he could only be in the Netherrealm because he had corruption in his soul). Here, we're basically being treated to a Sub-Zero that's more like Sektor was in the original timeline: Having a Father that was the Grandmaster and having ruthless ambitious to the complete disregard for anything else.
Animations are sick. All the little details like the water ball on top of the staff being utilized.

@@deviantic69 What Knight said- it seems this Sub-Zero (which is apparently supposed to be Bi-Han, the less noble first Sub-Zero and the one who then became Noob Saibot) believes that the Lin Kuei is so powerful that it's a waste to be mere defenders, but that they could use their supernatural powers to become independent and wage war and rule over the nations around them. From what we've seen so far, Scorpion's not very down with that.
Is it weird that I am kinda glad that the Scorpion fatality has like a billon extra bones from the explosion like in old MK?
I'm just so happy with this style of game. Kameos! Who would have thought they could be used so interestingly and versatile. Combo breakers with kameo, combo extension, mobility as we see with scorpion spear giving you a chance to reset neutral. The style points you can get are immense with fatal blow kameos and fatalities. Man I'm gonna have fun pairing up subzero with frost, what kind of freeze shenanigans will they have together?
Smoke is using a Karambit. Its a curved knife thats known for its deadly usage in hand to hand combat. Its a pretty good choice for a ninja
The scorpion air spear and the one where he pulls you back as a kameo will haunt me online
I’m glad they showed that scorpion assist, it shows that not all kameos are just for neutral or combo extenders but some are completely defensive which is great.
@@jeremyroberts8822 true. I kept telling people to stop worrying about the kameos. Every time they show more of it, I like it much more. Can’t wait to play it at EVO

A particular little detail I like? Johnny Cage being annoyed that his $500 sunglasses broke at 0:47. I don't know if it's supposed to be a call back to the first movie or just something they added for flavor, but it's a cute reference

People is a nice way of putting whatever that thing on the right side of the couch is
Rain is back and looking amazing, like some sorcerer/wizard design with the staff i mean he previously can conducts lightning so to have a staff like Raiden makes sense but it seems he literally is only controlling water this time.
One small gripe design wise is that the Sub and Scorp kameos use the MK2 klassic skin, why didnt they give thema vintage MK1 skins like the old simple black ninja hoods with the coloured sash because we haven't seen that look come back yet.
Otherwise 🔥 trailer!!
Maybe because they are doing a theme with the kameo fighters being from the original trilogy, Sonya and Kano MK1, Scorpion, Jax, Sub-zero MK2 and Sektor and Cyrax MK3. But then there is also frost who had a clasic outfit here, so I don't really know
@@Lord_Umbra that did cross my mind and you might be right in a way now i come to think of it because if i remember there is MK3 sonya kameo skin in a blink and you miss it moment in the 1st trailer so maybe they have multiple skins that we just havent seen yet, i hope so because MK1 MK2 & MK3 versions of kameos would be top tier.

They did say we'd see old characters like never before. Proper assassin Smoke and MAGE RAIN are so god damn cool. I can only hope they bring back Havik and really lean into the Chaos Cleric thing he had going

Scorpion asst is maybe the best one we seen so far. No it don’t bag you extra damage or anything but it’s armored so it gives you a frame of armor in case you get hit and it immediately gets you out of any rush down/combo pressure … it’s essentially a free combo breaker
Preferred rains look in mk11 tbh but im glad that they are bringing more ninjas back for the base game

The stream today makes me happy and worried about Kameos. Kameos finally show their potential in neutral, like Scorpion can pull the player's character back. But neutral in MK has always been "crazy": MK is a game where everyone has mid/low projectile, teleport, or slides across the screen. Kameos can make neutral fun if it works well. However, it's also likely to make neutral overwhelmingly chaotic
