This reminds me of back when i was deep in the chiptune scene and actually did a Collab with another person. Showing someone a piece you've been working on and having them come back with something completely unexpected can completely change how you view something you just wrote. Watching this makes me miss that process and now I'm going to have to carve out time to get back into it! Thanks for this!
Yes AI can be a good brainstormer, with good prompts it is a bit like going through presets and ideally you will also be learning new ways of thinking about music so it is a learning experience also.
Amazing experiment. I totally want to see more 👍 I did experiment with it. Here are some tips: In the prompt, try something that is not your music. It won't follow the prompt exactly because it doesn't fit, but it will create something interesting. Add: Horror, hopeful, Goldorak, movie scene, Disney, in Japanese, Russian, Also, try taking your prompt and translate it to different languages before using it. Prompts in different languages give different vibes. 👍
Funny thing with this kind of collaboration is that AI is doing the creative part, while humans are doing the production. It's like AI is human's boss. Hmm... Anyhow, I liked the video. 👍
I mean, I guess so to an extent. Really, the way I look at it is like this: I've written this kind of music with human partners before, sitting next to me in the studio as we both throw out ideas as to where to take the song next. This really is something akin to that type of collaboration, at least in my experience. That's the thing I'm looking to explore with this. Not handing over control to an AI for everything. But leaning into it's strengths and ALWAYS having the final determination as to what actually happens with the track.
@@Techsploder Cool! It might depend on the music genre? I was working on jazzy/chill-hop type tunes. I used it for a "b section" idea. I fed it my chord progressions to see what it came up with for melody and beat, etc.
When the prompt strength is 0%, it will replicate what it sees in its reference window, but it will turn it into its own sound.. IF you turn up the prompt strength it will use the prompt to influence the style of the sound its extending..
for recreating the synth patches you could use the Micro Music AI plug for the Vital Synth that inputs a sound sample and recreates the synth patch in the Vital Synth
It feels like its giving you a lot to work with as far as how to build off of it, but none of the divergent evolutions really work that well together without some massaging since the AI has not context for the other tracks that you're making. Maybe that's where the person has to come in. Shame you couldn't work in Track 3's drop though.
Anybody who thinks using AI to produce any artistic content is somehow creativity, helping them learn, improving and democratising the arts or any other so called use case that people promoting this crap come up with us deluded. It is the death of creativity and originality, not a benefit, but a curse.
It's not the death of anything. It's an avenue to explore. Nothing more. At least in the context of how I would use it. It doesn't stop me from being humanly creative. It's another tool in the toolbox. It's an automated version of Oblique Strategies. It's a person sitting next to me in the producer chair saying "what if we do this?" I still have agency (as humans always will) to say yes or no. So it doesn't stop or really change anything other than offer another way to approach the art. Now, everyone has a different way of using these tools, so my use case will differ from others. But that's how I see it. Thanks for watching!
I would like to try to download a demo of a song (for example guitar and voice) on udio to see how you can improve it to make it more presentable and maybe to try different types of arrangements and voices
I hear ya, but reframe. Yes stems will be absolutely amazing... But you can use it for that when it comes AND use it for inspiration and ideas now. Why not?
@@Techsploder hopefully soon. Be great to put individual stems and get out all the things you ask for. I wonder if this can fix fade outs. My pet hate on splice samples is the nasty cut offs at the end of a bar, I wonder if it can fix them.
@@Techsploder I signed up for z month but found it a bit frustrating. Hopefully one day you can strip a sample down to individual parts, also ask for songs with chords.
I honestly believe that UA-cam will put some levers in place to contain the AI generated content. That's my hunch. And it needs to happen before things get too out of hand. I believe it will.
Well, I suppose that's an entirely different goal altogether. Personally, I have little interest in using Udio to create something start to finish. I want to augment my own productions.
You realize UDIO only recognizes sounds its been trained on, so it will turn your samples into commercial sounds. I've been telling thomas dolby, he has an advantage with UDIO, its hear him and can make use of his voice.
So basically your advocating letting AI do most of the work in turning your own creativity into something derivative just to satisfy the content monster and further flood the already over-saturated and effed up streaming music market. 🤦♂️
I agree. At the same time, I could actually see Thomas Dolby welcoming AI tools, as an artist he has always been pretty open to new technological avenues in music production.
Or maybe just advocating for AI like this to be an OPTION... In a sea of options that exist already (and the sea of options that have yet to be invented). Why is this any different from some new plugin that does something in a new way? They all attempt to create something new, or simplify something old, or whatever. Seeing AI like this as different from the other tools we rely on in the studio is close minded to the possibility of finding new pathways for OURSELVES as artists to learn and grow.
Well, I think you are misunderstanding what I'm doing. I'm a musician who loves to create and I'm looking to make music in different ways. I couldn't care less if Udio is better or worse than me. That matters to some but it's honestly the last thing that concerns me. Not only that, I gave up on my music being truly commercial and profitable years ago. It's all for enjoyment to me. Thanks for watching
IT seems like what people want is more modern crap.. You know why EDM is so popular cause in the 90s, CD's had 74 minutes of storage, and each musician was given the equivalent of a double record to fill. How else to do that than sycopated sequenced disco.. And now you know why the 90s sucked..

Yeah you bet! Thanks for sharing AND watching!
Excellent video-game music! Congrats!
I can't tell if this is a compliment or a troll but either way, made me laugh!
I did it one year ago…even more on first version of UDIO. I used UDIO idea and finished it with my original structure and ideas
Oh nice, how did it turn out?
This was awesome Jason!! I wouldn't know where to start with making music! But I really look forward to where you take this!
Thank you! It's a blast to make these!
..tried the same thing with suno, its just amazing....
Nice

That's what I appreciate about this, hearing my music through different ears.
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day.
Thank you so much! You too!
Thats a cool idea, please make more such videos!!!
Will do! Thanks for watching. Hope you are inspired to create!

Right on, these are some really useful and different suggestions I would have thought to try. Thank you! More to come.
In fact, only a variation of the solo was added. Not too much.

I do something similar, but using Suno. I tried Udio, but preferred what I was getting from Suno. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for saying this, imma try it out
Oh yeah, I've heard of that. How good is it at finding the right sound?
So the best music to use on it is commercial music..
What do you mean. Best music to use it to generate? Or best music to upload to it?
finally some good use of AI
Appreciated!
Was it able to give you an entirely new section to go into, like a B section to your A section, or confined to only adding to your loop?
I'm certain I could have gotten a b section out of it, but my mind was set on adding layers on top of the loop I already wrote. Next time?
@@Techsploder yes I think that would be a cool presentation to see. Well done btw. Innovative thinking 💡

Yeah in hindsight I wish I had spent the time to try that one out, would have been interesting.

Udio JUST rolled out stems too! Video forthcoming!
