What a fantastic player Shelton is. This whole interview surprised me of how actually good he is, he went from rockabilly, country to Segovia and Bach. Fender should make his own signature
Tele 52' is an understatement. There is a reason why all of these known musicians hired him.

Man I just love it when I stumble across a gem like this on youtube. I was one of the millions of teens that started playing electric guitars in the mid 60's, inspired by guitar playing like Mr. Shelton's on so many songs of that era. It's a gift he gave me and I still enjoy to this day very much. Especially now, when we are under stay-at-home orders. If it weren't for guitar playing I'd probably go nuts. Sincere gratitude to you Mr. Shelton. You did a really good job with this Rick, especially considering it was the first interview you did and an impromptu get-together. I was spellbound the entire video. Thanks to you as well, take care. I'll be watching for the next time you get together with Mr. Shelton.

I have a 1952 Tele. The newer ones - even late 50s, don't compare. There's one reason why they are SO valuable. They are not so thin and spiky, although they are still like a Tele. They have wooden warmth, kind of a sweetness - as you can hear here. They tend to be lighter (not much paint or lacquer at all) and easier to play than many later ones.

@@aliceshaw8265 It's either really all about the music or all about the money - no half way house really. Bit like dividing the sheep and the goats. Not feeling free to share is a big problem - it means you're not secure on who you are. In guitar everyone stands on someone's shoulders as the efforts of others have been played around us all for 70 odd years now. I'd like to think generosity of spirit defines the greatest musicians who've lived and worked among us. Some people are more generous with their time than with their money, for some it's the other way round. That's OK we can't always help who we are. However some people are generous with neither - don't be one, we all only get so much time to make the world a better place.
