It is especially difficult with guppies, yeah. If you can separate the males and females, the males will be easiest to treat. The females will be more difficult since the parasite can transfer directly to the fry during pregnancy. Use levamisole. Keep the infected away from the healthy. Don’t use the same equipment for both. Good luck.
Levamisole is effective in treating camallanus worms. I don't know how available it is around the world though. I know this was 2 years ago but I'm sorry you had to deal with this.
@@tropicaltanktv Thank you for saying that. I won’t ever let it happen again. I have since learned my lesson however: ua-cam.com/users/shortshZkyCZxoPXc?si=S3BBfAO_mt2gnjhU
@@MattKeepsFish oh nice! Yeah, the active ingredient in Expel-P is levamisole so that's great. I work at an online fish store and we get those active ingredients in bulk and use them a lot. Anyway, thanks for the reply! Hope you're doing well.
Congrats on your positive review! I'm sorry to hear about all the trouble you're having, but glad you're bringing us along on this part of your journey. After recently scooping the sand out of a 5 gallon and a 10 gallon, I really don't envy the task of scooping it out of a 40!
No kidding! Looking back on this video, I wish I had taken more time on the editing. School and treatments all at once consume time faster than parasites consume livestock
@@MattKeepsFish I forgot to mention, a few days ago I was at my local fish store and saw a farlowella and thought of you and Kitster. My banjo cats are the stars of my 40 now that the pearl gourami's gone, but usually you can only see their snouts poking out of the sand, if you can find them at all!
@@MattKeepsFish I do and so far, I haven't had any issues. It's kind of fun to watch one of my cories bumble over the top of a buried banjo and make it come out for a bit. I'll have to watch out for potential issues as the banjos get bigger and can fit more in their mouths, but so far so good.
Wish I had see this 4 months ago. Took me doing an autopsy to figure out my fish had these worms. Unfortunately, after 6 weeks in quarantine, I thought my fish were ok and put them in my re-newer main tank. Now I’m seeing signs of the parasites again. I feel your pain
Hey buddy, i know exactly how it feels, i keep fish to. I wonder why this happened to you. I use fenbendazole pill for dogs and it disinfect my guppies. 100mg per 38L . What dosage did you use ? Mg per L ? Maybe you use to much?
Sorry man, I don’t remember. I do believe that this Fenbendazole was insoluble in water, so I had tried to soak food in it instead. Not a good method, so now I exclusively use levamisole and always quarantine before adding.
This method did not work. Please leave a comment requesting effective treatment information, and I will provide it.
so difficult to treat! ive been losing guppies one after the other for 3 months now…

@@drewzero1 Awe. I’ve always thought about Banjo cats. Maybe in the 75! Would they work with cories?

I’ve been there. The research doesn’t show itself until it’s too late.
Get some Levamisole and hope for the best, that’s the only shot you’ve got.
i'm taking my own advice and leaving a like
Haha ♥️
