@@rachelbadergray9929 In Greek myths, the goddess Athena is often portrayed as a redhead along with Aphrodite, but given the messed up origins of Greek myths and complicated relationships between Greek gods, I can only say that it's almost impossible for Athena to be Triton's wife and having a loving relationship like they showed us in the prequel, if the Athena in the prequel is the Athena we know from the Greek myths since Athena do have red hair in Greek myths, the marriage would be done out of spite, but Triton and Athena did have a loving relationship in the prequel, so it's more likely for Disney to take the physical description for Athena in the Greek myths, which is a redhead goddess, and then implemented that physical description on Ariel's mother and call her by the same name.
I don’t believe Queen Althena was human, BUT I do believe she may have had a love or sympathy for them unlike her husband, which could explain Ariel’s love/curiosity of them.
And with the Queen’s death, I believe since Ariel was much younger she may have not remembered what happened that day unlike her sisters, so it would be easier for them to fall in line with King Tritons new rules, unlike the young rebellious Ariel
This sounds possible. I might not know all about Disney theories, but what I do know makes me think that maybe, Ursula, if she didn’t have a royal life as a child under the sea, would probably plan on using someone to help her get the crown from Tritan, because she obviously couldn’t marry her brother. So she decided to transform her only friend into a mermaid to try and convince him that she was needed in the palace. This is just my theory though. Then Athena and Triton fall in love and this is when Ursula thinks she wins. But Athena could also have worried this could happen. In which case, Triton would have already used his trident to turn her into a mermaid permanently. So that would mean Triton knew what Ursula was capable of and exiled her to her lair we see in the movie. It also means that he knew Athena was a human. I don’t think Triton would care about that because he comes off intimidating but he’s a big softy and he loved Athena very much. Narnia has mythical creatures like mermaids and talking animals maybe including see creatures. Ans Aslam says the first talmerins were Pirates who invented.
This theory involves heavily on the book Poor Unfortunate Souls, but that book is non-canon with the movies and TV series (which are canon with each other), which debunks the whole thing with Ursula's backstory from the book. The canon backstory is that Ursula was a member of an enemy race of the merfolk (the Cecaelia), and she tried to take over the kingdom, which resulted in her banishment. Maybe this theory can apply to the live-action movie, but not the original animated one.
Not entirely sure about the TV series being canon due some obvious contradictions, namely Ariel and Flounder's first encounter with each other and Kid Triton being a redhead when in TLM 3, his hair is brown. For that I'd say questionable at best, but that's just me.
But you guys wanna know something that is really weird Ursula is actually Ariel's aunt because triton and Ursula are siblings and the reason why she became evil is because their mother had died
Now that is a very good theory Amy call about Ariel's mom from the original all the TV series but if the live-action movie will explain that will make a lot of sense instill good theory
Im under the impression the Queen Athena is the same personas Zeus’ daughter and Athena from the Eternals. With her being a goddess similar to being a witch she can just give her heart to the Ocean IE Triton/Thoth

King Triton didn't know Ariel is in love with prince Eric and Ariel's father do know is his wife was killed by humans and he won't let Ariel go out the surface and that's why and he is protecting Ariel away from humans and Ariel was right to get herself a true love and she was in love with prince Eric and still in love with him and Ariel is a human now and she was born in a mermaid tail instead of legs and i think Ariel could be born in legs and i watch that movie she was born in mermaid instead of legs
The real question is why does Ariel have a blonde hair sister and a black hair sister when her parents had brown and red hair, Past relationships or something
Yea, I don't agree with this theory either.. I have an obsession with wanting to be a mermaid, doesn't make me one.. Ariel just had an interest in adventure and exploring a world that was unknown to her.. just like some are obsessed with exploring the ocean that is unknown to them. in Greek mythology, Athena is the daughter of Zeus and Metis (the latter was stuck inside Zeus' head), and Triton is the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite. ^Now you wonder where Disney got the names of Triton and Athena, there you go.. If we go by this Athena and Tritan were God and Goddess.. Not a mortal human or mermaid.
Wait there's more to the theory in the last Little mermaid movie where Ariel has a daughter They can go from human So can everybody do that or just mermaids with half human but Technically Are mermaids already have human Cause they're fish part but then they have their human parts
i dont think Ariel & her sisters are full blooded sisters. I believe they're all half siters, same father different mothers. I believe he had to sire 1 daughter from every sea as king to better ensure peace throughout the whole 7 seas. So i believe that is why Ariel looks more like her mother. In the beginning of Ariel's beginning there was a mermaid that looked identical to another mermaid.IDENTICAL
Ppl need to watch the series. King Triton isn't the only ruler in the ocean. Their are actually other kings and queens along with other kingdoms. The Disney animated Triton is not the Greek Poseidon where there is but 1 ruler of the seas. Triton only rules Atlantica.
The where are the other mothers? In the prequel to the little mermaid Athena is raising all of the daughters and putting them to bed herself, why aren’t the other wives taking care of the others? 🙄
You’re getting it all wrong. Ariel is the only daughter of Athena. That’s why area was next in line to take over Atlantica, but did not because she went to go rule hangman’s aisle with Eric. so Alana took over which is Aquaman’s mother. This was shown in the crossover comic for DC the Ariel shows up with Aquaman. Maybe try and just believed that Athena died, but she had to go back to the surface. Or maybe with the rumor that Athena was Lilith, which means that she was killed by Noah, AKA Gilgamesh. She was slain in a tree. This is expressed in the Bible as the screeching owl, as well as the epic of Gilgamesh. What you’re saying makes zero sense because if Athena her training he wouldn’t favor Ariel, he would take it out on Ariel. I the rest of them are not Athena’s daughters, and that’s explicitly expressed because of divine right. The air went directly to Ariel. That’s why he was so protective of her because her mother was the queen, which made her next in line, but because she shows not to lead Alana stepped up. So what you’re saying not only doesn’t make sense, but it’s not even sensible.
I'm sorry to say I'm not sure how much I agree, I'm not sure how many books Disney made cannon or movies, if we assume movies are cannon, well clearly Ursala had hatred for triton, wanted kingdom and they both had magic artifacts. Book little mermaid is not exact match to Disney, then you got mythology. I thought in mythology Poseidon was god of sea and triton was one of handful of his children. We don't know how much Disney used of that story. Other issue, in second movie, Morgana mentions Ursala, so to act like triton and Ursala were the only children until sequel, clearly the sibs weren't close and at least by little mermaid movie we see Ursala not like triton but not mentioning Morgana and I thought there was a song or diff thing where Ursala said she killed some sibs. If she was kind to Athena and turned her mermaid vs siren and after Athena was with triton, it wouldn't make sense if Ursala hated everybody for a long time. And I'd imagine if it's cannon she killed a few sibs, that wasn't all at once for no reason and why didn't triton stop her. And theoretically triton should have known Morgana existed so there was clearly issues in the family. Oh and my one gripe on ppl on net, is ppl think Disney is making up stuff for live action movies while forgetting all the musicals were grown up version. In lion king musical scar harasses Nala and hunchback of Notre Dame was cross between Disney animated movie and book. I think for little mermaid it was live action was just that unless incorporated adult ideas from musical. I need to check cuz I thought Ursala had 2 songs in musical. And wasn't it something on being mom's favorite, I forget, need to recheck, it's weird
Ariel is not half human. If so, then things would have been different in the movie. Also, she would be able to do things like in Barbie a Mermaids tail. Barbie is half mermaid and she can breathe under water, and, can have a mermaid tail
I believe that it is true and that Queen Athena is Eric's mother-in-law. I mean how Al's and in what other way can you explain Ariel's obsession with humans?
Well Tristin had the power to make Ariel human at the end of the movie so he could have made Ariel’s mother a mermaid so they could marry instead of Ursula

Ursula has a sister in the little mermaid 2 so how can her and triton be related that would make Ursula sister tritons sister aswell
No…that was just live action. Also read the reply above mine.
Dad says stay away from humans, lol Ariel is young and is curious so does the opposite
Not true he would have took it out on Ariel. But he favored her for bringing her image.
Btw in the new 2023 little mermaid, eric is adopted by the royal family and was originally a sailor just thought i'd mention it
All the merpeople who have been concerned on Ariel, if Lorelai from Santiago of the seas were here, then Lorelai would meet Ariel.
Oh. And I thought she was just messen around
That makes sense in a way
That would mean ariel's daughter melody is only 1/4 mermaid.
In the live action The Little Mermaid, Triton told Ariel that her mother was killed by humans.
That makes sense because the only difference between arial and her mother is her tail or she would be a complete clone
it does possible. Because the queen was lying to her Husdand king Triton.
Are the novels cannon to the movies?
It was love at first sight. After one look at Eric ..she wanted to be where he was after all “he’s quite the catch” 😍❤️🔥😘
A siren isn't a sea creature a siren is half bird
A siren resembles more mermaid than a bird.
A bird is more of a harpy.
@@achlysmiller8287 according to Greek mythology primarily Homer's the Odyssey where sirens originated sirens are half human and half bird just like their mainland counter parts from Jason and argonauts.
They're not related to mermaids which Originated in mesopotamian mythology.
@@lowesgameing2003 Sirens are like evil mermaids. They come in different forms depending on the interpretation, but generally sirens are depicted in the form of a mermaid.
@@achlysmiller8287 not according to Greek mythology what source are you getting info from?
@@lowesgameing2003 Greek mythology.
YES.
All mermaids and mermen are half human half fish to start with.
The sirens aren't acually mermaids, but rather human bird hybrids
That’s true but if you go back to the same myths you’ll find that they were then turned from the half bird like creatures by one of the Olympus gods into the sirens we all know of
King Triton didn't know Ariel is in love with prince Eric and Ariel's father do know is his wife was killed by humans and he won't let Ariel go out the surface and that's why and he is protecting Ariel away from humans and Ariel was right to get herself a true love and she was in love with prince Eric and still in love with him and Ariel is a human now and she was born in a mermaid tail instead of legs and i think Ariel could be born in legs and i watch that movie she was born in mermaid instead of legs
The real question is why does Ariel have a blonde hair sister and a black hair sister when her parents had brown and red hair, Past relationships or something
What movie is this. I haven't seen it
No
Yea, I don't agree with this theory either..
Another theory could be that triton fell in love with a human girl and turned her into a mermaid
please, i wish king triton as human and i hope athena remand as human forever, but i hope ariel's sister could transform as humans
Well actually I think it's an Option that Ursula as she lives by the humans know ariels other and bring her together with her dad?
We don't know she did die. The humans could have her captive some where. After all a mythical creature will be a great treasure to sell for pirots.
Awesome ❤❤❤❤❤
Ariel’s mom was with Peter Pan and his gang before she died thought we all found this out years ago
are not all mermaids and merman half human 😂 realy love little mermaid 🧜🏻♀️
just NO
Is no one at all curious about where her body went after death?
She went to the Dead Body Clean Up Cell on skyrim😂
Makes sense
Oops, in little mermaid musical Ursala sang daddy's little Angel.
Triton say how it be impossible it is true half human
Yes
i agree
When I watched the live action little mermaid It looks like Eric's mom Looks like Ariel's mom😳😧😧😧
ZACH SAM
Bruh Ariel is not human. Ursula turns her human. And then her dad turned her human permanently
Actually like how do you know exactly about Ariel’s Mom’s Origins..???
Even though none of us don’t even knows about her origins.
I don't really agree with this. Wouldn't TrIton look different? He looks half human too?
Well Tristin had the power to make Ariel human at the end of the movie so he could have made Ariel’s mother a mermaid so they could marry instead of Ursula
Actually, why did ariel rlly asked the witch for legs if she have her dad to give her a pair-
No originally mermaids are fascinated by humans cuz I want to learn more about they're known as water names from Greek mythology and water nymphs like mermaids like mermaids nimp's from the water are curious about humans
I mean... isn't that literally what mermaids are? Half human, half fish?
Um, Ursula is an octopus not a merperson
There is always the the little mermaid the show with Ariel
DUH! Mermaids are naturally half human & half fish/marine life by default. Mermaids wouldn't exist unless a human did it with an aquatic life form/fish.
The little mermaid return to the sea says clearly there's never been not ever before a child born of sea and shore
Don't agree but still a good theory
