Can you do a comparison of BJU and Abeka LA?

The biggest reason I use BJU instead of TGATB, is because BJU has a writing component that is awesome! I wont have to search for a writing curriculum, and the one included is so good, it holds my kids attention and their hand, through hhe writing process. Something you may not know is that BJU has extra practice sheets as a way to get a more spiral approach inside of their Teachers manual. I wonder if you could also get them on their page? A lot of our local private schools around my area use BJU press as their main curriculum. If its solid enough to be in private schools then thats a great sign!

I have wanted to use TGATB because it’s so beautiful, but I just can’t get past how they cover the language arts. Like you said I don’t think there is enough review. So despite what I use not being colorful and beautiful it get the job done thoroughly and I add the beautiful other ways.

We use TGATB because of cost (we are 1 income). We are currently using kindergarten, for my son, and then their preschool for my daughter. My son seems to be liking it. He likes their books and their apps. I also do Explode the Code with my kiddos.

I wish I could get TGATB to actually download on my computer.

@TableforFontana did you by chance put in your email on their site? They say if you go to their site and click on the free option, put in your email, it should start in your download folder.

Interesting about TGATB LA reviewing! I really enjoyed seeing them together, thankyou for this review. My child is halfway through TGATB LA Level 2 currently and I would say we are definitely finding constant review very thorough so far (we repeat what a noun is every 2nd lesson since Level 1). I will keep your comments in mind as we finish it. But I definitely love how much LA covers vs BJU's program.

What do you use for spelling if you use BJU? It looks like it doesn’t have spelling in that book does it?

BJU has a reading program that’s phenomenal that you’re supposed to pair with the English

I've used both. BJU didn't flow as well for the teacher as TGTB did, imo.

Are you using BJU Press with your son too?

Is less reading in BJU press beachside you only got the work text, the curriculum comes with much more for English and with extra books for literature reading, also, spelling and phonics are separate subjects on 2nd grade. So this review is kind of incomplete on the BJU press side.
Also you are missing the handouts that comes separate.

BJU has seperate components to their Language Arts, which I did point out. TGTB is all inclusive. ☺️ Not an incomplete review at all.

Thank you so much for this video, it’s very helpful.😊 We currently use TGATB, (we love it) but I feel it’s not quite enough for my son. I’m thinking of adding BJU as extra curriculum. What do you think? Would that be a good approach?🤔😊

As a homeschool mama with 15 years under my belt, learn from my mistakes…don’t overburden your child or yourself. Hugs, Mama! ❤

Use BJU press alone, if you decide to use it. Is more complex and loaded with work. And as the other comment says, don’t overload your kid. I’ve been homeschooling for 7 years now and have tried both.
