It's the scene from the book! They made it so well, Agatha's actress smiles so gorgeously, you can really see how the smile suddenly makes Agatha three times more beautiful! And with her usually keeping grim face prior in the movie it makes this moment work very well! ...And the hug!😭💕 Seriously, what did they though of when taking this scene away? It was a crucial character moment in the book, you can't just take away a crucial character moment!
This scene would have gave them more dimensional characters and would have helped the love interests build up to that point. At the end, there was not much to believe either of them loved each other.
Why didn't they include this iconic scene in the final cut? This would have introduced viewers to Clarissa Dovey the way readers and fans of the book saw her!
Wish they didn't delete this because this scene alone would definitely uplift a lot of people who struggled to see their true beauty within themselves. Like me.
this scene meant so much to me as a kid, and it would've meant even more if added to the movie, especially with Sofia Wylie being POC. In the movie Agatha's hatred for herself and beauty, and her coming to terms with the fact that she's absolutely beautiful (self-love and acceptance) is not there. This scene would of inspired loads of little girls who think their ugly yet aren't. A lot of the good impactful scenes giving the characters depth and reasoning for them being in each school were missed out, which is such a shame. For anyone wondering, here are some of the scenes that should've been kept: The parts in Gavaldon- I did like how there were subtle hints/foreshadowing of Sophie being a bad friend in the movie (her making a promise to Aggie and then breaking it) BUT! Agatha was supposed to be Sophie's "good deed", showing that Sophie originally didn't care for Agatha, and rather used her to get into the school. They still did keep Agatha protecting Sophie, showing Aggie's good qualities. Which was nice. THE HOBGOBLIN IN THE COFFIN!! - this would've given Tagatha so much more depth (it felt shallow in the film). And also show which one of Sophia and Agatha are the "Princess" The mirror scene! - Agatha outsmarting the mirror was always one of my favourite parts of the book, emphasizing the "don't judge a book by it's cover" quote. Sophie exceeding in her villain classes + her killing the beast - This would've shown Sophie's true evil. I really didn't like how they basically said Sophie wasn't actually evil, she was only manipulated into being evil.
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS COMMENT THANK YOU!!!! They barely laid into what made Sophie truly evil, and didn’t show her being evil is all HER not Rafal, let alone making her or the other villains truly dark and terrifying. I agree with all your points on Agatha, especially where they could have talked about the issues women of color face regarding body image, but sadly they didn’t lean too far down that road which makes me sad, SUCH a missed opportunity. I’m mad like you said how they really didn’t get Sophie and Agatha’s dynamic AT ALL, they put what their dynamic BECOMES by book 3 into the very beginning, which ruins any chance they have for character development since they now have nowhere to go in developing as people or as friends. And don’t even get me started on how they barely have any depth to Tedros, just like you said 😂😂 out of everyone in the film I think he was the one that most butchered because they gave him NO context or info on his character, not even his VERY IMPORTANT backstory regarding his parents messy affair and how afraid he is of repeating his parents mistake that it rules him😭😭 and THAT’S why he’s so upset and struggling between girls but NO, no context given so he looks like a player throughout the whole movie with NO personality or barely any info about him. His one line about his parentage is a throw away line that can be forgotten instead of the CORE of his character 😂 but yes I agree wholeheartedly with your issues on how they did both Agatha and Sophie’s arcs and characters in this. They just did not go deep enough and didn’t start where these characters truly were at the beginning, ruining who they were in the film compared to the books. This scene was so beautiful, I wish they kept it, and give it GOOD context without making it about Sophie in the end AGAIN when in the books that moment in the mirror was very much about AGATHA.
These are the facts!!! This is exactly what I was upset about. this scene met so much to me from the book I was heartbroken to see that they didn’t do it.
This moment in the book was so impactful to me as a kid. I remember tearing up after reading it, and now I’m tearing up watching it. The movie’s writing was so disappointing; the characters weren’t developed, the world felt weak, and there was little to nothing to move the audience. Following Agatha’s journey to self-acceptance and love gave me strength when I was a kid. Though the movie (in my opinion and as a long-time fan of the books) was subpar, I’m glad to see this scene… even though they cut it out of the movie…
Same here, but like you I’m really glad to see this scene! It’s honestly REALLY good and fits SO well with what happens in the books (except for the last sentence where Agatha is thinking of Sophie AGAIN in the film when in the actual book this was HER moment for HERSELF!) BUT other than that it was brilliant! Her smile was so wonderful and what so happy! It was so good! And the way they transitioned to each scene was so well done and told the story of this scene well!! And MAN the emotional intensity of this with Dovey’s gentle teachings to Agatha, to Agatha being overcome with emotion, to the beautifully gentle wondrous music in the background! SO fitting! It’s SO freaking good! Definitely second place from all the scenes in the movie, if not first (I’m sad they cut it 😭 if they only made Agatha more miserable in the beginning this honestly would have worked so well in the context of the film!) anyway, DEFINITELY in top two scenes in the film!! So emotional and movie and gentle, JUST like the book!
This would've added more layers to Agatha's AND Dovey's characters in the movie! This was the scene in the book I kept with me for years up to this day. That's how emotionally impactful it is. The only spell they need for the world to see their beauty is for them to believe they are truly beautiful ❤️ and love themselves .Why was this scene deleted😭 It's delivered so well... They did an amazing job. This would add so much more to the film. Just why?
Can’t believe it was deleted, this is so close to the scene in the book, that’s one thing I don’t like about the movie, things aren’t the same, like the trial of tales and the circus of talents, my favorite part of the book, wasn’t in it either
Exactly!!! This scene is LITERALLY the closest thing the movie got to the books! In tone, character development, emotion, ALL OF IT that makes the books so beautiful, was shown PERFECTLY in this scene! I wish the rest of the movie was similar to this tone and character focus!
This is by far either the second best or best scene of the film! It’s SO good! And so well done! Especially how well it’s put together considering how hard it would be to get on film! And yet they did a brilliant job! It’s SO good!
I understand the part about Sophie’s goodness being deleted, it’s repeated later in the movie. But I wish they would’ve just reshot the scene a little :/
I never thought that there's a deleted scene from the film. This scene should've been added for the film cause it would be great because it shows how much Agatha loves Tedros to consider to save him from the reaper and it would show the kindness that Agatha has from her heart cause she is beautiful on the inside and she is also beautiful on the outside.
THIS.. THIS!! This is why they should made a series not a movie, a mini series should be enough, there's few things you cant just deleted from the real plot, she's already so beautiful from the beginning, sofia wore that dresses so well that agatha didn't need any clean up, and she's also too nice, but with this scene atleast you can understand her insecurity
I have yet to read the books, but this scene made me tear up, because it's really quite wonderful, and I love the fact that the Dean made Agatha see what was already there❤️
I wish they kept the scene in. It would have shown such depth to both Dovey and Agatha. Allowed the love interest to grow and would have given us more insight to Dovey’s character at least in the film
Sofia Wylie is an Actress!!!! I wished they didn't deleted her characters most pivotal moments or least gave her more of a development. Hope she does more projects later on
They should have kept this in, my biggest complaint was that they didn't really show any other side to Agatha besides just fighting for good, this shows the demons she fights internally, and that she isn't just perfect.
I can't understand why this scene isn't on the film... I believe is the best part of all the first book. This is what people have to know... We're only beautiful if we see ourselves beautiful...
The head of the school for Good has more character in this deleted scene compared to her scenes in the final cut. Like her character in the final cut of the film, feels like an empty cheery character but weirdly suspecting. Even her scene with Agatha in the wishing lake feels lackluster and less impactful. I have not read the book, but I can completely figure out that the pacing is messed up in the final cut that's why the characters are not fleshed out.
When they first casted Sofia Wylie for this role, I wondered how they were gonna make this. Because to it’s a small miracle to make someone who maybe is one of the most beautiful women in the world look “Ugly” as they said in the book. But as long as you feel beautiful yourself, you are beautiful, inside and out!
Yep! And it’s the scene that was the closest to what it was like in the book. This scene actually has the closest representation of what the book ACTUALLY is: deep, heartfelt, and realistic. Unlike the movie which got rid of ALL of that, hence why they got rid of the scene closes to the tone of the book 🙃 because it doesn’t fit. The movie is SO different from the book. They honestly are two completely different stories like 😂 They did this scene PERFECTLY, just like it was done so well in the book 🙂 I truly recommend it!
This was my favourite scene from the books. And they just deleted it. This is why it should have been a tv show so they would have time for the best scenes.
This should have stayed in the movie, out of everything in the book I remember that scene even today. It gave it such more depth. Sad to know it was deleted
Yup. If it were a series, the characters and the story would be more developed and as The School of the Good and Evil is a book that has a much more context in it with a series than a movie.
This was my favorite scene in the book, probably in the entire series too, and the most significant development portion for Agatha. The fact that it was deleted is BEYOND pissing me off. Even though I believe the book executed it a lot better than this mini clip here, it still was development and I would've fell down on my knees and cried seeing the one scene I fell in love with years ago when I first read the book.
This was my favourite scene in the book and I was so upset it wasn't in the movie. But seeing that they at least filmed it makes me so happy. Literal tears in my eyes
I’ve never read the books, but I’ve read many reviews. This scene should have been added to the movie. It makes the movie now make sense. I understand why so many people online suggest that the movie is queer baiting. I hardly felt Agatha even liked Tedros while watching. She seem one track minded much like Wednesday. This deleted scene also shows how life or death serious that fight in the woods was and why Agatha would not let fate determine the outcome. Even more so, this scene makes Agatha’s decisions more realistic. No wonder she seemed only determined to help her friend and get out of there. She believes the only ones who could love her are her mom, her cat and Sophie. The school takes all of them away from her. She even denies her true love feelings because she doesn’t believe anyone else could possible love her. This changes everything. This would have given the movie way more dimension because she was such a goody two shoes the entire time. She kept saying no one is purely good or evil but she was good the entire time. She falls in love with the boy her friend initially lays claim to. Not only that, but she would be putting their lives on the line if her friend couldn’t execute her true love’s kiss.
what was so wrong in adding this extra 5 minutes to the movie before the ever ball???? and maybe a little scene in how she got the dress and maybe a few reactions to her.
I would have loveee to see this scene in the movie. Why would they taken this out since this is one important moment from the book. For Agatha's character development😥😥😥😥
We were robbed! This was one of the most important scenes, and they took it out?! To write, direct and film the whole thing, and take it out is criminal. I am so upset.
I don't understand why they had to cut this out? It's such an important scene for Agatha's development and for things to make sense in Agatha's confidence in herself in the movie. If they had cut out the first scene with the twins fighting, this could've been included. That scene wasn't even meant to be shown anyways and it straight up removed the school master mystery. Spoiler from the book: . . . . . . . . The good twin died. Not the evil twin. And there is no such thing as blood magic as of what I remember. Just a crusty old man in a mask and a cape. If ya wanna know more, read the book! 😉
The fact this scene is practically done and complete, was so much better than what they gave to us and apparently (judging by the comments, I didn't read the book) accurate to the original story make me so mad that it was cut.
The movie is SOOO different from the book in both character and tone, this is the closest the movie got to holding a candle to what the book is actually like: deep, heartfelt, and realistic, and moving.
It's the scene from the book! They made it so well, Agatha's actress smiles so gorgeously, you can really see how the smile suddenly makes Agatha three times more beautiful! And with her usually keeping grim face prior in the movie it makes this moment work very well!

This is literally one of the most important scenes and I can’t believe they cutted it out!
This was my favourite scene from the books. And they just deleted it. This is why it should have been a tv show so they would have time for the best scenes.
They should've kept that scene,it was perfect 😌
This should have stayed in the movie, out of everything in the book I remember that scene even today. It gave it such more depth. Sad to know it was deleted
This is so beautiful. Sofia is so beautiful.
This is such an incredibly beautiful scene and the actresses did such a phenomenal job. They should have included this.
I hope they could've made this into a series so the characters would have enough time to build up this scene would've been amazing
I hope they did the book 2 and the rest a series.
Yup. If it were a series, the characters and the story would be more developed and as The School of the Good and Evil is a book that has a much more context in it with a series than a movie.
WHY DID THEY DELETED IT
This would have been awesome to see for Kerry Washington’a character in the movie 💛✨💛
Oh thank god this was my favorite scenes for Agatha
This was my favorite scene in the book, probably in the entire series too, and the most significant development portion for Agatha. The fact that it was deleted is BEYOND pissing me off. Even though I believe the book executed it a lot better than this mini clip here, it still was development and I would've fell down on my knees and cried seeing the one scene I fell in love with years ago when I first read the book.
I fell in love with this moment years ago as well. It was utterly BRILLIANTLY written.
You have no idea how many times I have re-watched this
Why didn’t they keep this scene?
I was angry that they didn’t! It’s one of my favorite moments in the book!!
This was my favourite scene in the book and I was so upset it wasn't in the movie. But seeing that they at least filmed it makes me so happy. Literal tears in my eyes
OMG THE SCENE is amazing
This scene was so good in the books and here
shoulda been in the movieeee
This would have been an amazing scene in the movie. Wish they kept it. 💗
I was so disappointed when I found out this scene was cut, it’s literally one of the most important scenes
They needed this😭💀
We need this scene in d movie dude... It's soo much more better Dan all d chaos and everything
They be like: hey carl did you finsh this dress?
You know what? We will just take one fron the bridgerton archive no one will notice
SO THE SCENE DID END UP BEING FILMED BUT THEY DELETED IT??? ITS LITERALLY MY FAVOURITE SCENE FROM THE ENTIRE BOOK
This shouldn't be deleted :( this is really a beautiful scene. Now, I wanna read the book
I also find it funny that the name Agatha means virtuous and good.
This scene could make this movie better :(((
the fact that they cut this out is a crime
Honestly, 4:06 is such a good part, they are directly looking at us, saying we are beautiful...
this would have given so much depth to agatha's character and to the movie in general. can't believe these idiots cut it 🤦🏾♀
what was so wrong in adding this extra 5 minutes to the movie before the ever ball???? and maybe a little scene in how she got the dress and maybe a few reactions to her.
I would have loveee to see this scene in the movie. Why would they taken this out since this is one important moment from the book. For Agatha's character development😥😥😥😥
dude this was my favorite scene in the book and it definitely would have made the movie better
Yeah this definitely would’ve been amazing if they kept it in, it made me feel so good
We were robbed! This was one of the most important scenes, and they took it out?! To write, direct and film the whole thing, and take it out is criminal. I am so upset.
WE WERE ROBBED BAD
If they included this scene, this will show the true feelings of Agatha to Tedros in the movie.
I wish they had left this scene in the movie. It was beautifully done
i know right!!! her face when she looks in the mirror made me tear up
Oml I loved this scene in the book I wish they put it in and also it’s a good message
I legit cried so hard why was this scene excluded 😭😭
Thhheee WHATTT!!!! WHY DID THEY NOT INCLUDE THIS IMPORTANT SCENNEE!!!
Put it back in now! Please and thank you
Man I haven’t even watched the movie or read the book but I almost cried bcs of this scene. That is a powerful scene that they should’ve kept in
I don't understand why they had to cut this out? It's such an important scene for Agatha's development and for things to make sense in Agatha's confidence in herself in the movie. If they had cut out the first scene with the twins fighting, this could've been included. That scene wasn't even meant to be shown anyways and it straight up removed the school master mystery.
Spoiler from the book:

The good twin died. Not the evil twin. And there is no such thing as blood magic as of what I remember. Just a crusty old man in a mask and a cape. If ya wanna know more, read the book! 😉
The fact this scene is practically done and complete, was so much better than what they gave to us and apparently (judging by the comments, I didn't read the book) accurate to the original story make me so mad that it was cut.
The movie is SOOO different from the book in both character and tone, this is the closest the movie got to holding a candle to what the book is actually like: deep, heartfelt, and realistic, and moving.
They always delete the best scenes for real
This is a great scene, should've been included
They should have left this. It's beautiful!
This scene should not of been cut. The movie was lacking a lot of the story and character building.
Why did they delete this!!!???
Please tell me who deleted this scene from the movie.
Theses 5 minutes meant a lot! This should have stayed in
Ugh this so beautiful I hate tht thy cut it I'm gonna act like it was in the movie tho
Why did they delete this TD🤷♀️
I HOPE THEY RELEASED A EXTENDED VERSION LIKE AT SPIDERMAN NO WAY HOME. SO WE CAN SEE THE SCENES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE INCLUDED
I didn’t read the books but this scene is so amazing!
Agatha touched her face in the mirror to a face that no one recognized because it was so happy
I’ve been beautiful all along - Agatha
i will never forgive whoever removed this scene THE FAWK
We were robbed 😭
I have a crush for agatha...inside and out..
