Thank you for addressing financial abuse! So many do not understand it or recognize it. To hear the caller's pause when she realized it was heartbreaking. Nicely done ladies as always!!!
Sam - don't worry too much about saving all that 529 money for your kids' college. They really promote 529s on the RS, but college and workforce training is changing very rapidly and what will be needed in the workplace when your kids are ready for college is very different from what employers want today. Get out of debt, pay off your house and you can cash flow college for your kids. Make sure they understand that they will be doing college on the cheap - earning college credits while in high school, community college, and state school with in-state tuition to finish a four-year degree if they EARN that right. You will have plenty of money left in the 529 if you do that. Take the tax cut now and buy the house! You will be amazed at how much you can cash flow with no debt and a paid for house which will greatly appreciate in value by the time your kids are ready for college. Fewer than 50% of students finish college in 6 years or less. There is very bad ROI on college degrees, especially for certain majors.
Sharon - if you have a joint account you can go to the bank and get your own login to all the accounts on which both of you have your names. GO TO THE BANK and find out - and also pull your credit reports and the title for your home (to be sure your name is on it). This is not your husband - this is YOU not protecting your financial situation and you are also responsible for all the decisions that are made. As usual, the RS personalities make judgments with only one side of the story. With $105,000 you have enough money to support yourself and your kids! I would NOT give an ultimatum tonight. I would go to the bank and pull credit reports and figure out what the actual situation is FIRST and then you will have facts to face him for what could be a difficult conversation.
Truth. And as Christians it is not in line with Christian principals on how to handle things. They got her half divorced and encouraging separation already.
Sharon of MI. Flags are waving and bells are ringing that something is not right. Open another account and send your income until your husband come clean.
I have one comment, for almost every show: why do people not know how much they make, take home, per paycheck? I understand maybe not knowing every penny you owe to every entity right this minute. But, when you take the time to call this show, you should at least have the basic info ready to tell them. I thought everyone knew what they make, then I took a poll at my job, and most of them didn't know what their take home is because their wives take care of the finances and they have direct deposit. People, you need to know how much you make and how much you owe.
True! But in some cases, I don't think people find it easy to be entirely honest on a call-in show when they know the world is listening. But you're quite right - people lose track and that's why they get into trouble. Having a budget where you manually enter what you have and what you spend is so helpful and that's why I avoid the automatic entry Every Dollar. I like entering the amounts myself so I can keep track.
i ran my own business after college. had a checking acct. and a savings acct. money in, money out. kept it simple. by check, i knew what came in, my debit was for business, the credit card was personal. easy peasy. tax time was simple. 2 sets of numbers. checking for incoming, debit for the busines, and my drive log for the truck. people [and tax accountants] make it unnecisarity complicated, ''ignore them''.

My comment about the very bad advice Jade and Rachel gave to Amy with her $1 million in debt got pulled - obviously these two ladies do not know how to figure in taxes to the equation and when I pointed out what their actual take-home pay would be, the comment was deleted. WHY do these personalities never mention taxes - makes them look like real amateurs at times. Deducting federal and state taxes and paying the extra expenses like medical malpractice insurance and benefits a job does not cover means realistically they will need 4-5 years to pay off that debt, even living with a bare bones $60,000 yearly income.

I don't do a zero based budget - and never have. I just can't predict to the dollar what will come up during the month that I did not anticipate. I use Every Dollar by putting in all my fixed expenses (including savings and funds for other items we are saving for) and I see the figure up at the top that is still left for the month. As we need or even want to buy other things as the month goes on, I enter them into Every Dollar and that figure at the top goes down and we know how much we have left. I do the entries, but my husband likes to keep check on the site, too, and see what money is still available if he wants to get something. Hi love your show do you have any advice about burial expense I have a Irrevocable Pre-need Funeral Contract for all four of us Paid in full sense August 2013 was that a good move or not?
It doesn’t matter if it was a good financial decision or not. These are the decisions you make to give someone else peace of mind. As someone who just settled an estate for a family member, others will thank you!
I think that for that pick a side segment, Dave would’ve say pay the home, rational is if you had a paid off home would you borrow 50k to build a patio. Most in his program wouldn’t so that’s the answer
I would have liked to hear more advice given to the seventy year old with cancer. She came across as guarded and reluctant to expand upon her circumstances which is a real pity. I wonder if more time would have been spent with her had she been open.
Ok instead of focusing on the marriage issue. Why didn't they ask her if she is self employed or works for a company. If its a self employed family business I can understand how he control's everything. But if it's for a separate company then Sharon can go to HR and have access to her paystubs she is the one employed there they can assist her. They could have asked these question's to address the issue. You have to ask the correct question to better address any situation in order to get the correct results and deliver quality customer satisfaction.
They just be winging it. They be all over the place. At least with Dave guides all his advice to what we he do, and it's all based on his core principles and values. (But this is what you get when they're pushing Dave's values instead of their own) It doesn't come off as genuine.
@@purainteligencia Please, if you are pure intelligence and want to comment on the hosts, try and get your own grammar correct. It is not they be - it is they ARE!
Exactly.. they never asked if there was a history of her overspending and breaking the trust between them when it came to money.. sometimes husbands take full control as a safety measure for their family because the wife isn’t intentional with spending
I am so confused by some of these comments I would love to have these problems to choose between a patio and a mortgage or a multimillionaire that Can’t decide what to do with his money and pass it so amazing problems you have. I am happy they have these problems because that means that the baby steps work! I don’t understand the amount of people who can’t be happy for them.
I miss Dave 😅 the other personalities take entirely too long on each call - we get to listen to like 5 different people across all 3 hours… why did the millionaires deciding between a patio and a paid off home need to take up 2 diff segments?? I’d rather rewatch older episodes with Dave than listen to these people ramble for days
Yes. I also wonder whether there are simply fewer calls, so they are forced to fill time with commentary. Even after a conclusion is reached, we get to hear it all over again.
And the call about what to do with Tate's cars... and the caller making $500k with $100k in cash wavering on a house upgrade. Such a waste of time. 99% of us listeners learned nothing from those lonnnnng dragged out calls.
To the caller buying the neighbors...NO. You would be responsible for insuring the new house while the neighbor is living there. Hopefully you would be leasing to them. Otherwise it's a nightmare.
The worst customer is like her at the beginning of the call… You ask a question with a really simple answer then they on babbling. You can’t get concrete info from them so resolving the issue takes longer. At the end, it is your fault since you are rude if you interrupt to redirect the flow. If you don’t want to waste your “valuable” time as a “very important client”, just get direct to the point. If the one helping needs addtl context or back story, they will ask for it. 😂
Truer words were never said. That is why this show has a following and the business has made millions advising people of how to get out of debt when the answers are really pretty simple (unless there is a major health or medical problem): save at least 10% of your income from your first paycheck, don't buy something you can't afford - save up for major purchases, get into a small home as soon as you can - it's an appreciating asset, get your college degree as cheaply as you can and avoid huge student loans, compare prices and avoid traps like eating out, and, above all, LIVE BELOW YOUR MEANS and don't try and keep up with the Joneses.
I've been watching this show for years ,, the part with the 71 year old lady,, that all sounds pretty fishy to me,, it sound like they were really excited to get to a commercial break to do a new segment about something that nobody cares about 😕 did they tell Jade to leave her glasses off ?? I can see her squinting at the computer screen ! After the first called Amy
Right? They spent the least amount of time with the one caller who was in a truly desperate situation. Then spend waaaay too much time with callers with no real problems. 😮
WHY are they taking calls from multimillionaires who need tips on how to enjoy success? They are taking time from people who really need the help. If you make a lot of money and can't enjoy your success, talk to a therapist, not a call-in radio show.
"I have all the money Ill ever want. No stress from living paycheck to paycheck, no debt. I need help to learn how to let loose and enjoy life" SO ridiculous. There has to be so many others trying to call in that actually need help
Elizabeth, you are my favourite commenter in this channel. I agree with your takes almost every time. As a non-millionaire, l also think this is a waste of a call. But I get to roll my eyes at poor little rich folks and their silly predicaments.
At 45 minutes with the woman buying in the same neighborhood. Red flags all over the play. We’ve bought and sold over 20 homes in the past 40 years and never let previous owners continue to live on the property and they want two months to move out?
Tbh, I like them both, but they spend waaaay to much time on the frivolous calls about patios and cars. Meanwhile, they didn't give the woman with cancer much time at all.
1:16:31 we have to be careful with making everything a thing. There is no such thing as financial abuse. If ur partner is selfish and controlling let’s call it that. If I aren’t able (for whatever reason) to get ur partner on board it’s ur responsibility to get help
Can you read more of the emails? Cause I sent one, and it seems like you guys take more calls than email, and some of us don't want to be known to the public world
I've always thought that is a good idea. The problem with emails is they can't ask questions to clarify the situation. You'll notice they almost always ask callers to break down their debts - not just lump them all together which is what might happen more with emails.
And THAT is the reason they need to live on a bare bones budget for the next four or five years and get that debt WAY down. I'm old enough to realize that, although young people think they will live forever and that nothing really bad can happen, unfortunately that is not always true. If they lost even a single income through some negative event, the result could be quite disastrous. Insurance will take care of death, but disability is a different story.
The 71 yr old with the $170K settlement should pay off her credit cards & build an emergency fund. Bad advice to use the rest to pay down her mortgage. Her mortgage payment is 40% of her income. Caller doesn't have any other money.
I do not agree because with no debt and a paid-for house, you can actually live on VERY little. It's still having a mortgage or a rental payment when you're retired that keeps you under water. I do agree, though, that a good chunk of that should go to creating an emergency fund.
@elizabethharris6876 she's 71, broke, on SSI and owes 400k on a mortgage, she isn't paying it off, ever. She needs to live off that settlement after paying off the cards.
I can’t get the first caller out of my head. Ignoring what I hope was nervous laughter, how are you both in school with a house payment. I wonder what kind of cars they drove and their lifestyle while in school? Racking up that much debt doesn’t seem like they have a business brain between them. Then she talks about keeping the house to rent out and buy another when they move to their job? Seriously this call sounded fake to me, honestly I don’t think this caller knows what a dollar is.
It's not a fake call in all likelihood. Both are in the medical field and it costs about $250,000 student loan debt for a regular medical degree and close to $400,000 for a specialty. Almost all of this is student loans and banks will lend money to future physicians based on their projected income without counting in their student loans. We also don't know if a family member gave them money or signed for them to get a home - lots of parents do.
@@Trustbutverify2651 thanks for the reply. My comment was a bit based in some knowledge of the subject. My son is finishing a phd in bio medical engineering in May and starting his MD PhD this summer his wife is a working PA. They rent wouldn’t even consider buying a house. At this point due to parents savings and scholarships so far they hold zero student debt. A million debt is ridiculous for any programs.
There is a difference between being poor and having a "poor/poor me" mindset. Most, not all of course, but most "poor" people I know still have 1000 phones and get their nails and hair done and buy Starbucks...and one of them goes on a cruise every year. But they are "poor". But one of them sells plasma twice a week to pay for their BS. So if you have blood, you can sell plasma. So "poor" is sometimes a state of mind, not always an actual finance issue.

Sharon from Springfield, MI....sounds like your husband is overly controlling, especially since you're the bread winner. Sounds like marriage counseling is in order for you two.
Of course it is! Stop it with all the high student loan debt when there are cheaper alternatives, stop it with the tattoos/hairdos/expensive phones/nails/eating out and all the other expenses, get a roommate, get on a budget - need I go on?

@@Trustbutverify2651 please try to be respectful. This is an adult conversation there’s no need to be rude. 26 and out of the house is unrealistic for most Americans. Parents pushing unprepared young adults out of the house before they are prepared speaks to how we feel about our children and our responsibility to them. The avg salary in the US is $65k for men and $53k for women. That isn’t young folks with no education and less than 10 yrs of work exp and only 14% of Americans are college educated. It is irresponsible for parents to push young adults out with no money and tell them to get a roommate. Now u have 2 or more unprepared young adults trying to figure out life and things happen. The average rent in NJ is $1850 based on Dave Ramsey’s model rent should be 25% of take home pay. That’s $88k take home for. 26 yr old. I’m a landlord and I will not rent an apt to 3 young people trying to figure out life. What happens when one decides to move? Can the other two pick up the slack?
Anybody seen Dave? It’s been a minute.
$50k patio😮
Will someone ask the hosts how much they make a year ?
I am so confused by some of these comments I would love to have these problems to choose between a patio and a mortgage or a multimillionaire that Can’t decide what to do with his money and pass it so amazing problems you have. I am happy they have these problems because that means that the baby steps work! I don’t understand the amount of people who can’t be happy for them.
How about they spend more time on the lady with cancer who is trying to survive rather than people who are doing just fine?
I loved it! I think these girls are a refreshing change!
Ironically they spent the least amount of time on the 72 year old woman with cancer and no job who is truly struggling. 😢
I agree ☝️
Yah Sharon, those are red flags! 🚩 could be hiding all sorts of stuff. Addiction. Infidelity etc.
Bro what are some of these people thinking ? Good grief people are way worse with finances than I thought.
Some beautiful ladies on today! Gorgeous!
I need help to learn how to let loose and enjoy life"
SO ridiculous. There has to be so many others trying to call in that actually need help
Those people who need help do not generally ask for help because they believe they are in a helpless or hopeless situation.
Elizabeth, you are my favourite commenter in this channel. I agree with your takes almost every time.
As a non-millionaire, l also think this is a waste of a call. But I get to roll my eyes at poor little rich folks and their silly predicaments.
@@ThePolypam 🤣🤣🤣
Everyone has issues though. I do laugh when I hear them a little too but it doesn’t like you’re mad at people for doing well
At 45 minutes with the woman buying in the same neighborhood. Red flags all over the play. We’ve bought and sold over 20 homes in the past 40 years and never let previous owners continue to live on the property and they want two months to move out?
Girl Power!
Tbh, I like them both, but they spend waaaay to much time on the frivolous calls about patios and cars. Meanwhile, they didn't give the woman with cancer much time at all.
Is Helen still going through cancer treatment? I wouldn’t pay down the mortgage if she is so she can pay her medical bills.
Phone in does not require more than a first name. And it doesn't need to be your real name. They don't care.
Making 600 a year pay off loan and live off 100k a year invest the rest for few years be set for life and enjoy give help you will feel great about it
The first caller Amy is so scary situation omg I would be 💩
And THAT is the reason they need to live on a bare bones budget for the next four or five years and get that debt WAY down. I'm old enough to realize that, although young people think they will live forever and that nothing really bad can happen, unfortunately that is not always true. If they lost even a single income through some negative event, the result could be quite disastrous. Insurance will take care of death, but disability is a different story.
@@Trustbutverify2651
She could not be my health provider. POOR JUDGEMENT SKILLS 1 MILLION IN DEBT.
Where is Dave? He does not use "Girl Math".
Good grief these 2 talk in circles and don't give a straight answer half the time
Did Dave retire? Havent seen him in a long time
Yeah. I’m sure he just left his own show without anyone knowing about it. 😂
Thats exactly what he did lol. Gone for a month without saying a word about it. Probably just hasnt announced it publicly yet@@JoeMNPT
Dave is in Cabo
He goes on two month long vacations all the time. Does it at least three times a year. @@disco4535
She is ill and should save more for potential medical bills instead of paying the mortgage down
@elizabethharris6876 she's 71, broke, on SSI and owes 400k on a mortgage, she isn't paying it off, ever. She needs to live off that settlement after paying off the cards.
Am I the only onw that budget app is not available in my area? I live in NC
The budgeting app is available in all the states. I have relatives in NC who use it.
The caller doesn't have enough monthly income to meet her expenses
Stop just jumping to conclusions based on one persons side of the story.
Men lie, women lie,
Dr John is the king of jumping to conclusions... even before someone finishes a sentence... and usually sees the woman as a victim
@@kw3113 Hence my answer about the very poor response the RS team gave on how quickly they could get out of that debt!
Has dave ramsey retired from this show?
So basically just don't be poor
There is a difference between being poor and having a "poor/poor me" mindset. Most, not all of course, but most "poor" people I know still have 1000 phones and get their nails and hair done and buy Starbucks...and one of them goes on a cruise every year. But they are "poor". But one of them sells plasma twice a week to pay for their BS. So if you have blood, you can sell plasma. So "poor" is sometimes a state of mind, not always an actual finance issue.
Where has Dave been?
Jade looks like she just got reprimanded by Rachel before the show starts lol she’s got that look you out on before you say to yourself “the show must go on”
1:12:21 by calling it financial abuse ur negating the mental abuse. Sharon is absolutely under the thumb of her husband but it isn’t financial abuse it’s mental abuse
Sharon from Springfield, MI....sounds like your husband is overly controlling, especially since you're the bread winner. Sounds like marriage counseling is in order for you two.
I just can't watch jade. I'm out.
Her energy was a but chaotic today. Jade doesn't help ground her like Dave or Ken
What is it about Jade that makes you not want to watch
Poor Tate, good thing you didnt pay for this advice. Rachel makes my ears bleed
26 and out of the house??? I don’t think it’s realistic for most Americans
Of course it is! Stop it with all the high student loan debt when there are cheaper alternatives, stop it with the tattoos/hairdos/expensive phones/nails/eating out and all the other expenses, get a roommate, get on a budget - need I go on?
The main thing that makes it unrealistic is the belief that it is unrealistic.
@@amireallythatgrumpy6508 what’s the average household income in this country? Have u checked the job market in the last 11 years? Gig jobs aren’t good enough and the increased wage rate isn’t helping either
26 yr old. The apt is more than likely a 2 bedroom and there will probably be 3 young people in the apt. This scenario is an accident waiting to happen. I’m a landlord and I will not rent an apt to 3 young people trying to figure out life. What happens when one decides to move? Can the other two pick up the slack? Parties…toxic relationships…emotional support animals…nope uh-un. Keep ur young adults at home until they are prepared financially and are responsible and mature enough
And I didn’t mention student loans.
Amy is a mess.
Always need a man on the show for balance
Is it bad that I'm falling in love with Rachel ❤ Why is she so hot 😍
Blasphemous. Dave has not been on the show over a month now. Unwatchable without him.
Bitcoin is up 167% in the past year and 1500% in the past 5 years. It's been a great investment daspite all the ignorant hate from Ramsey personalities.
I don't get it either. If you don't understand something, don't champion against it. I've made nothing but $$ with BTC.
