Thank you for the video. Recently installed this by a local shop, they didn’t put the winch cover nor the brackets for fender liner on, caused the fender liner to be rubbed off. Make sure those details are taken care of when installing.

After watching your video again I'm not looking forward to installing this solo :( Bought it because I refused to pay over $400 shipping to get the Victory bumper, I can only hope for the best now. Can you put the stock front skid plate back on after installing the bumper? Looks like the original hooking spots were covered by those 4 bolts in the back? Thanks!
I was able to install an ARB skid plate made for the GX460 and it worked fine so I would imagine the stock one would work the same (but admittedly don’t have experience with it)
Great video! Any tips on how to put on that cover plate underneath the winch? It looks like it’s barely possible because of the space it allowed to tight those screws and nuts. Thanks!
Did you have any trouble with the a/c line near where it gos into the condenser. Same bumper for me rubbed a hole in it. New line has different geometry so appears clear of the bumper.
Yes - I figured out you must install it before putting the bumper on the GX. Sigh… haven’t taken the time to take the bumper off so I can attach it and frankly - don’t think I will. It’s not causing any problems.
@@TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad Are you referring to the branded CBI plate you reference at 24 minutes? If so, I used those little clips and allen head bolts to attach it, the same ones you talk about in the video of possibly being for the fender liners. With using these, you can R&R as needed without taking the bumper off. As for the fender liner brackets...what did you do with those? Zip tying for now...
This video has been super helpful in our install. Do you have a winch install details on one of the forums? I'm interested in details on how you mounted the solenoid as I may add the same winch to the same bumper.
I don’t but I’ll try to make one soon. The Smittybilt X20 9500 lb with synthetic fit perfectly though. Created a custom mounting bracket from aluminum for the control box and mounted it behind the backside of the grill at the top.

I still haven't put the cover on because of so many other GX projects and trips but will get around to it eventually. To be precise, the cover on the front bumper does not cover up the oil filter housing so that is not impacted. If you go with full skids then you would need to worry about the oil filter housing.
Did you buy the steel or aluminum version?which one would you recommend and why? I ask because on cbi website shows both steel and aluminum are 70 points and I’m sure that information it’s wrong . I like how your Lexus looks and I see it’s actually useful while off road . Thank you .
When I bought it only the steel was available - didn't know they had come out with an aluminum version for the GX. The weight listing on their site is for the bumper and pallet shipped - 140lbs. The actual weight is closer to 65 lbs. About to undertake this install. Removing and reinstalling the plastic guard and clips every time I need to rotate the clutch didn't seem ideal. Have you found a solution for clutch handle extension?
No but haven’t found I need it. For my install there’s not much clearance so not sure what I’d use. Maybe a small (ike 1” round, 4” long) PVC cheater pipe that you keep inside?
Had a 470 back in 05 and had no idea what I had. I want a 460 now and my goal is a stealth build like yours. Question is, if I plan on doing same lift setup, is it better just to get a base without air ride or are there decent 2” lift setups that work well with the air etc you get with premium or luxury trims. Thx all!
Similar story - I wish I’d kept my 2006 GX. It was 10 years old with 220k miles and never once in the shop for something major. Ih well. You’re asking the right question on the 460. Ultimately comes down to preference on options such as leather, radio, cruise control, etc. I went with the middle level so I didn’t pay for things I’d remove like the air bags. Also like the tougher leather in the middle option. But do miss the better stereo and some if the convenience options. Up to you!

I had never done any of this before, only had basic tools, and used UA-cam as my guide: Suspension: 12 hours Bumper: 4 hours Roof rack: 3 hours Rock sliders: 3 hours Glove box custom shelf: 2 hours
Been running for over two years (including a lot of trailering a heavy boat) and never had a cooling issue. Yeah - didn’t come with instructions but hey, that’s what I’m here for! 😂😂

I seem to be missing 2 button head bolts and nuts but they are going to be sending it. They sent 4 hex bolts but I have no idea where they go. Which hardware did you use to mount the bottom panel(under winch)? Thanks and I may be responsible for at least 15 views. 🤪
@@rodeld7225 😂😂the four bolts attach the lower panel the bumper (but not all that well… a little off). Definitely attach the panel BEFORE you attach the bumper. Basically impossible to if you don’t. Good luck with the install - just take it slow, measure twice, cut once. 😃

Put it before mounting the bumper (learn from my mistake!)

None at all but I was careful that it wasn’t touching. Had enough play in mine that I could tighten the bolts without it touching.

Will this bumper alone have a negative mpg effect of over 1 mpg?
Couldn’t say. Everything you put in or on your car reduces mpg… hard to tell to what extent.

The CBI bumper replaces the forward most skid plate so no, you do not reinstall it.

🤔 Not a bad idea. You just need a notch big enough to get around the handle. Glue a T on the end and you're in business.

If you had to guess how long did it take from start to finish?
I had never done any of this before, only had basic tools, and used UA-cam as my guide:
Suspension: 12 hours
Bumper: 4 hours
Roof rack: 3 hours
Rock sliders: 3 hours
Glove box custom shelf: 2 hours
The only problem I see is lack of instructions and maybe lack of airflow to the engine. What are your thoughts.
