Very nice fly Davie, wish I'd watched it sooner, that wee o-ring trick will be a lifesaver for me, thank you
I can hardly get over how fly tying has changed since I started 50 years ago. Your videos have wonderful content and your tying skills are masterful. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Davie for another fine video of a nice fly. I don't know how that brain of yours works coming up with all these ideas. After some time at the vise it is easy to appreciate the quality of your tying. I wait for new and re-run the older ones daily. I will get the different nuances of tying with all the practice I get watching you. All the best, Sean
Davie, I can't stop watching your videos, they are not only educational but they are an art form too. Thanks for giving me the motivation to start tying again after 20 years of dormancy! Regards. Steve.
Many Thanks Steve, I'm glad you enjoy them...
All the very best Davie
That should silence the critics, deer hair beautifully spun over thread. Thanks again what a smasher!
Once again MR MCPHAIL you make it look so simple!!!!! great vid .Brian
Davis, looks too nice to fish with. Great job as always. Best regards, Richard
Thanks Davie, I enjoy your videos, they are easy to follow, and my results are great!
Davie, just found your videos. I'm an EastTexas crappie chaser, not a trout chaser, but they both have scales! You are talented and i look forward to modifying your creations to my style of fishing. Black & Chartruse are my go to colors, and I like what you do with them. Tight lines and Best Wishes from the Lone Star State.
Jimmie Campbell trout actually don't have scales😅
Great another video to stare at! amazing work as always!
Chris
I've subscribed to many of your posts your vidios are extreamly well done and your an excellent fly Tyler I'm pretty good at tying but not quit at your level yet thanks for the insperation
Hi Shannon York,
I have sent you a couple of links to Chris Helm talking about the deer hair he uses and as well of him tying...
All the very best Davie
Using the o-ring to control the deer hair is brilliant. It's also a good way to keep thread on spooled bobbins,, while traveling.
Hello Davie. Great looking tiny muddler my friend. Glad your making the videos again. Miss watching them and the help they give. I've lost your email address. Have some ?'s and cannot find answers to them. Look forward to hearing back. Cheers. Best Regards, Ken
Hi Tom,
I sent you a link to fabric edge scissors which is used to get a pointed edge then cut with a straight pair of scissors to get a lazer strip which will wind on to form a good body..I hope this helps you..
All the very best Davie
you really did a nice job.
As always, another great fly. By sharing the "o" ring trick with everyone, you have spared many from having cut wings and frayed nerves. I noticed the metal holder covering your razor blade as was wondering if it is something you made or is it store bought?
Thanks,
Tony
Nice job. Afraid my tying not up to that yet. Sooner or later.
Davie, what is the most complicated fly to tie for you? And if you have not done so, please post a video?
Davie, How about showing us how to tie a Lawson's No Hackle. I'm having quite a bit of trouble getting the wings right.
Thanks, Mike
Thanks a lot for a good idea
Hi Davie , super tying as per usual , im still tying away and getting better thanks to your videos but one thing im really struggling with is deer hair mate ,, keep trying to do muddlers but always seem to spoil the fly just at then end , cant seem to spin it properly and when i do get it right it does not seem enough
Any tips mate please
Thanks
Ed
Davy love the trick with the rubber ring. What size are they and where would I get them from?
All the best,
Graham
Nice to see you back on the vice Davie. Do you film you're videos and upload them in batches?
Cheers,
Alasdair
Great video, where did you get the tiny o ring from??? cheers duncan
In amongst teaching us to make these flies, do you actually find time to fish? :-)
Davie,
Can you share that link of Chris Helm with deer hair?
Thank you.
hey Mr. Davie, would this fly be considered a floating one or a sinking one? How would you use it?
Hi Jason,
These flies are very good for fish with all lines from floating down to the fastest sinking lines. They can be fished as fast or as slow as you like you just have to find the method the fish may respond to..
All the very best Davie..
Davie McPhail Perfect... thank you so much for your fast response. You are my favorite UA-cam fly tier and I love your channel it has taught me so much about fly tying
Hi there Davie, where do you get the o rings from? cheers Billy.
Hi Billy,
If I remember right I bought them off eBay and as well I got some from B&Q...
All the very best Davie
add some lead wire or a bead head, would be a great coho fly.
Красный цвет использовать возможно?
Hi Андрей Д,
Tye it with red if you want as I am sure it will fish well..
All the very best Davie
@@DavieMcPhail Thanks. Doing red )) I will send you a photo report with fish 😉
