  • One of the best little caddis patterns around. With an additional Glo Brite hot spot, when pulled through the surface film, this will bring fish up, just about all year round.

The Sedgehog has become my all time favorite dry fly when Caddis are coming off. There are other flies tied in a similar manner but have different names, like the International Hopper, which rather than be a hopper, is more of a Caddis pattern. I never go anywhere without Sedgehogs. The one thing Barry, I wonder if a person does not add that last twist of hackle, it should still work. Arguably you would be fishing with the old trusty Mikiluk Sedge. Pretty close anyway. I'm not criticizing, I think it is interesting to see how things have stayed fairly similar without the internet.

Hi Barry, nice job once again. Very similar fly to the Mikulak sedge or Mitch's sedge I use here in B.C. Canada. Just finished tying a couple of dozen of the Mikulak this weekend, will have to do up a couple of these to throw in the box for next year. Tight lines, Neil

Hi CB, Thanks. I don't know the Mikulak or Miches sedge but I'll have to have a look at them they sound interesting!

Nice one Barry! Like this pattern as it imitates a small moth that we have here. I use the natural deer hair one the most but have also had good luck with all white and all black ones as well.

I have had a lot of luck with Sedgehogs and I applauded you here! However my main reason for enjoying this is I got to watch scissors I may never own, at work. Those things are beautiful! I am a scissor hoarder/collector but I have run out of spare children to sell in order to own a pair of these. Oh I could afford them but it might put me in the radar zone as my monthly budget gasps it's last dying breath!!!

@@Thefeatherbender I may yet own the scissors, I can feel temptation building in me and my life philosophy is to overcome temptation I must fulfill it....wait! Did you feel a disturbance in the Force?? 😁

Could this also be seen as a small rodent? Is that a stupid question? With white dubbing it could look like a belly?
