WORST travel experience with AeroMexico (it was a NIGHTMARE!!!) 😰

  • My sister Alodia​ and I missed our flight, had to camp out overnight in the Mexico airport, AND had to pay a fortune just to rebook our flight. All thanks to the incompetence of Aeromexico​. 😐 Watch the video for the whole story.
    I wasn’t able to include it in the video, but all our 4 luggage were surprisingly ready not to board the plane either. Idk but that felt very weird to me. Also, 1 of my bags lost a wheel a few days back on the way to Mexico with the same airline. To add to that, one of my sister’s bags was damaged, too, when we reclaimed our luggage after the whole shebang. I filmed it but couldn’t include it in the video because airport staff made us delete the footage. LOLOLOL.
    Thank you so much to our friends Edwin and Raul of the Expo TNT team for all the help with fixing this mess, and to Pony for camping out in the airport with us haha. They actually also offered to book us a room and let us stay the night in a nearby hotel, to which we politely declined as it is a bit of a hassle to have to travel back and forth with all our heavy stuff in just a span of 12-14 hours.
    Thank you so much, Aeromexico, for the once in a lifetime experience. We hope to NEVER fly with you again.

    The great thing about vlogging is it keeps people liable. when Alodia called me the first thing i told her was to document what was happening and expose the malpractices occurring. This video is currently going viral on facebook which is now a PR nightmare for the company at fault, and well deserved! #Karma

      As much as you said that drama is good for the vlog. This type of experiences bites like hell. Had the same experience on our honeymoon, my wife and I were refused check in at the train station because the personnel at the check in counter said that apparently our train trip to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur would only accept check in at a specified time. That was already 9:45 AM that time the trip was at 10:15AM. So we had a quick breakfast and went back to the check in counter at exactly 10AM, only to be told that the train is just rolling away the tracks because it was already leaving. The counter made it appear that we were at fault thus refused refund, since we were trying to get back to Singapore that day because our flight back to the Philippines was noontime the next day. We ended up getting on a tourist class bus which costs more than the train tickets. Travel horrors... 😖

    I'm mexican and I immediatly recognized the behaviour of the check-in personnel, they tried to hide their mistake and get away with no accountability. Bad publicity usually solve this.

    Same thing happened to my MOTHER and I. Took our immigration forms and never gave it back to us and we couldn’t BOARD OUR FLIGHT BECAUSE OF IT. WE HAD TO PAY FOR THEIR ERROR!!! They ALSO treated us like SHIT‼️‼️‼️

    Working for Aeromexico was a nightmare for me!!! 😢😭 I hated it. The manager was very rude and would love to embarrass me infront of passengers. I was 17 when I was hired for ticket counter and gate agent. I felt harassed most of the time. I was young and scared. Very unprofessional co-workers. My aunt worked for Aeromexico when she was younger and said the same thing too how sad!! Nothing has changed!! 👎👎👎👎

    Thank you for this vlog. I work for a travel agency and after seeing this and reading most of the comments, I have sent the link to our manager and we have tagged AeroMexico as an airline to NOT recommend to clients.

    This scenario actually happened in any Airlines. Only the differences are most airlines would not asked you to pay or buy new ticket, instead they will assist you to the next flight schedule(if the inconvenience was caused by airlines services). This is actually likely like scam due to the situation that they hold your paper. Hope you got refund.

      Alessandro Lombardi there are many parts in Mexico where it’s not dangerous at all but let me tell you that there is NO false media propaganda and Mexico is filled with corrupted drug gangs or as we Mexicans like to call it “grupo de narcos” if you live in Mexico you would know that now drug gangs have increased and moved more towards the northern part of the country where Tamaulipas, Nuevo León and where all those states are (I’m not saying there are no gangs any where else just implying there has been a great number of narcos in the northern states). So, to all my Mexicans please be safe out there and don’t be ignorant to what’s going on in our country!!

    My guess is that they (as usual) overbooked the flight, so in order to accomodate the passengers they looked for easy victims. I had a terrible experience with them in a flight to Barcelona. They sent me to stamp my doughter's passport an even though I arrived back a t the counter 45 minutes before the flight departure, they argued that checking in was closed. Of course, I made a scandal and they hat to give me my boarding passes, saying: 2but you have to run, because the airplane's door is about to be closed. After running all along the dammed T2, when I arrived at the boarding gate they didn't even had started the boarding process! If you want to avoid trouble, do not book with Aeroméxico.

    I personally experience the same issue with my immigration papers on January 2016. They wanted us to do the entire immigration papers, my parents were all set because they were traveling with their Mexican passports but I was traveling with my United States passport. Unfortunately, when we were boarding they did not let me in. I was left alone, crying and everything. I was told to go to the immigration desk to do the paper work all over again, mind you the plane leave in 15. The guy at the desk told me he'll stamp my paper as long as I give him cash (black mailed me), I could not afford to lose the flight, so I ran as fast as I could do the ATM to give the guy $80 USD, and ran so fast to board. FUCK YOU AEROMEXICO.

      Also, that same trip. My family and I did not have our 4 luggages until 4 days after we got to Mexico. We had to pay from our own pocket for a hotel room because the airline prioritizes the packagers packages before their passengers luggages. We wasted four days of our vacation. To not spend money, we wore the same clothes for four days straight. They said they would reimburse​ some money for this issue but they never did.

    Ladies, I feel your pain. The Mexican immigration forms are REALLY important and for multiple reasons. #1: They won't let you leave the country without them and will make you re-purchase it (as they so rudely instructed you to do when you were already on time and at your gate). #2: Aeromexico is the ONE carrier that demands to see your immigration form receipt a SECOND TIME at the gate. I flew with them ONCE, and NEVER, EVER AGAIN. My experience from JFK-Miami-Mexico City was the WORST flight experience of my entire life. Every other carrier I have flown to Mexico, takes the immigration form receipt from you at check-in (as you handed it to the gentleman behind the check-in counter) and then they don't need to see it again at the gate. Aeromexico is AWFUL. I cursed at them in Spanish, and they weren't expecting it from a white guy I guess, because they immediately started treating me a little bit better. Word of advice: have a Spanish speaking friend help you check-in if you're flying Aeromexico. I do hope that at least the rest of your time in Mexico was awesome, because the country is beautiful, and the majority of the people are warm and friendly. Take care and travel safe.

    I always travel , and I always make copies of my documents , i live in America where customer services is always great. But i dont expect that in the other countries. So i always make sure i got everything in order ready for my own securities. They should give you guys a free accommodation. Coz it wasn’t your fault. And it should be free re-booking.     i am so sorry to see this, Aeromexico to be honest is not only expensive but also the service is not even good either. I was so happy when i saw you would come to Mexico tho and of course i love you both, but then when i saw both of you were trapped in the airport i felt incapable of doing something to help you, this really makes me feel bad because i don´t want you to have a bad idea of my country, you just had an horrible experience but i really hope you come to Mexico again.

      Maybe NAIA should do the same to Mexican travellers. US$ 1,600.++ pag hati-hatian nila yon sa mga staff ng AEROMEXICO. Aambushin at papatayin nga nila yong ibang Canadian tourist duon sa Mexico..ito pa kaya na parang “smooth operator” style lang ang pagka SCAM.

    That guy at the ticket counter HAD TO KNOW that you would need to show the form a second time at the gate since he is indeed working under that airline and should know their guidelines and that’s what pisses me off. He clearly saw that they were foreign and did not make sure to tell them that they would indeed need to have another immigration form filled out to present. I have traveled to China and a few other countries and have had horror stories with airlines so I am SO sorry you guys went through this. I truly feel your pain. And to those of you careless people who are saying they are making it a big deal, IT IS!! You try and go through the process off all of this and then miss your flight and then try and tell me they are making a big deal. You have no clue if these girls needed to get to their destination by a certain time. Truly hope for the very best to you girls, and just remember to always ask questions and make sure you know the process beforehand just in case. That’s what I’ve learned!

    I'm from Mexico and I can tell you that this airline SUCKS! Flew to Mexico City this summer and my experience was HORRIBLE as well.. paid for a SEAT TO HAVE MORE LEG ROOM but when I was assigned to my seat, realized that none of the seats had really extra leg room.... the aircrafts that we flew through were old and nasty! Never again flying with AEROMEXICO! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

    Ashley please get a lawyer for emotional damages, you need to sue the company. Showed a lawyer that you have commitment in US because of your nature of work and therefore there’s a lot of damages you endure. Call a lawyer. You don’t need to pay them if you loose. They get percentage of the settlement or award you get if you win. Ask in USA if you can file a case against them from USA. You definitely need to talk to a lawyer about this. Ask Wil to help you. I live in USA and aware about malpractices or negligence. They might settle for a reasonable amount of money.

    I’ve been on Aero Mexico, and I can confirm that the airline is HORRIBLE. On my flight back from Mexico, we waited for 1 HOUR still inside because something with the gate or plane. And then when we finally went inside the plane, we waited for half an hour for some reason. Then we got to our location still on the plane, and started circling for whatever reason for about 15 minutes. The flight was horrible. Horrible.
    The day before we left Mexico, another part of our family left. They said they were circling for 2 HOURS when they got home.

    I'm sorry this happened to you and your sister. But if this happens again, the one you should do is to go to your Embassy in Mexico City and make a complaint to the Mexican Immigration, the airlines, and the airport. This reminded me when me and my family went to Acapulco in August of '04 and we were staying in a hotel, but then they charged us a lot of money, my dad got pissed off at the hotel and he refused to pay. So when we got back to Mexico City while visiting relatives in the city, my dad went to the US Embassy (My family and I live in Chicago) and complained about the hotel Acapulco, and they took care of it. So like I said, when you go back to Mexico City, go to the Embassy, make a complaint and show them your video. I'll send a message to the airline, after all I'm flying back to Mexico City in July to visit relatives, but I'll make sure to send them this message and this video. Justice will be served!

    That was a very sucky experience. As from what I see, if the airline wasn't able to give back the important form, they should have at least run after you to give it if it was an important immigration document. Airline staff must always give back important documents.
    Also, just FYI -- It is protocol under IATA and airlines that baggage of missing passengers on a manifest that have not yet boarded the plane be removed or searched for inside the cargo ready for offloading. This is standard and this is not "abnormal" in operations. But if baggage is damaged, then this can be reported.

The video says that they didn’t get their immigration forms and the staff did the correct thing and didn’t let them in the plane because they didn’t get their immigration forms back when they were boarding the luggage. There is a speaker of the airport that calls people when they forget something like their immigration forms etc. And tell you to go to a certain place to get them back. These two idiots didn’t listen to it and it’s their fault.

    I've been to Areomexico and i can agree why this airline sucks, i missed my plane beacuse they kept on changing the gates and i had to pay again. Also my luggage got lost amd had to wait like a day for it.

    omg I only just found this video now, and its so crazy, knowing that my family does travel quite a lot, and sometimes to Mexico (don't know if they fly in or not cause they in the states) but I have never heard of any incident like this with any airline. I know this has happened way over a year but hope yall got things sorted out and hope you two were able to stay happy enough and safe.

    At the check it did not occur to them to call and verify that your immigration papers were at the luggage check in? They could have simply verified it over the phone and had the papers sent to your boarding gate without you losing your flight. What a bunch of idiots! They need to reimburse you for the tickets you bought PLUS an additional $750 USD each for the inconvenience. They will simply try to reimburse you for the tickets in hopes of covering their mistake and their lack of customer service when in fact they are by law suppose to do much more.

    I'm working as a travel agent, and dealing with reservations with different airlines, and to be honest, Aeromexico is one of the worst airline to deal with. Even for a schedule change, they are so unprofessional and hard to deal with.

    same thing happened to me two years ago. we came from LA and had a connecting flight to cancun. we had one hour to make it to the next flight and they busted some shady shit with our luggage and they also made me remove all my camera gear from my bag which took forever. got to our gate 5 minutes late and they wouldnt let us in. we also had to spend an extra 300 each to get a new flighta to cancun which was the nextttt day. on top of that they didnt even offer us a hotel stay, so we slept on the floor at the airport. worst traveling experience. could be a scam they do to travelers

I don’t like Aeromexico either, every time I HAVE to fly with them I have some kind of problem... some time ago we had an airline called Mexicana, that one was really good but it kinda disappeared, I’m not sure of what happed, but it’s sad that almost every international flight has to be with them now. 😤

I will avoid using their services beginning today. It sounds like they tried to scam you guys X( grrr. Also, their late attempt to help you was lame as well, because e-tickets don't always have detailed information that include that form. Sad because, many years ago, I always held Aeromexico in the highest standards from their check-in personnel to their flight attendants. However, I hope the conference in MX went well.       Kevin Navia just to give u advice be vigilant always be at guard actually this is a way of a simple extortion to other nationalities because they will not accept any explaination and later they will exhaust u until to the point that u will not follow up ur complain. In this scenrario it was clear that it was mistake by the check in staff so it is there responsibilities to bring the form to thier gate 🤔🤔🤔 and make a scene just to get other pax attention to help them out. Hopefully they will complain this issue and file a case to this airmexico 🤔🤔🤔

    Aeromexico is probably the worst airline company. They don't have real customer services and don't care about their customers. When I complained at the Mexico City International Airport, no agent including the supervisors helped me at all and asked to call the customer services. If something unexpected happens, they don't have any idea and are not willing to help the customers. More likely they treat the customers like troublesome people or problem makers. It is part of the Mexican culture. They don't take any ownership when they cannot earn or benefit from the situation. Aeromexico is extremely unprofessional (more than United Airlines). My wife (from Mexico) agrees with me and hates Aeromexico as well as many of the customer services operated by Mexican. Just don't fly with Mexican airlines.

      B. Just because of one complaint doesn't mean an entire airline is trash, this happens all the time with airlines, so the only reason you're stating this is because of one incident.
      C. Not all Mexican services are bad, that's stereotypical and racist.

    I had a similar experience too. It happened to me like two years ago. I have Mexican resident card, everytime residents fly out need to go to the immigration counter to fill the immigration form and get it stamped.(I didn't really get the process until what happened later) It had been awhile I didn't fly abroad prior to that episode, and basically the last few times I flew out I was still not knowing much about all the requirements just did as said so. At the check in counter, the staff told me to go immigration office located at somewhere, like near sala M(I dont remember), he didn't explain much, just told me to go there.(I speak Spanish) So I went, showed my passport, my Mexican resident card and my ticket, the personal from the immigration checked all of them, and then said okay, you can pass the security. I did wonder about the point of going to the immigration office, but since the immigration personal didn't say anything and I did what they told me to do, I didn't stick on it, headed to the gate.
    Then what happened next is almost same as your story. They were really rude telling me that it's my problem not knowing about this process. I argued that I did what your colleague told me to do so, your colleague didn't tell me to get the stamped form, neither the personal from immigration! The ground staff at the gate just told me to run to get the form. They didn't want to help at all, when I came back they just told me that the plane had gone, in 5 mins.
    I love Mexico, the various cultures and the people but sometimes I still get really upset by the service experience.

    I'm so sorry for you what happened, not only for tourist, also we pass like that. Last year I lost my flight 'cause they sold the tickets twice, so, they gave the seats the first who arrived into de boarding door. I arrived two minutes after last call. The answer from Aeromexico was "buy new tickets" but guess what? Only was for business class, my trip was VSA-BAJ-VSA, it eas a connection flight, and they wanted me to pay more than i paid for the 4 flights, exactly 150% more only for the flight MX-VSA. But, ok that was a surprise, but the great thing was MY BAG TRAVELED TO VSA AND I DON'T!!!! How was that possible?? I send a tweet to Aeromexico and they was surprised too, so they gave me the solution that, the ticket I have, keep it and in a future trip I was able to use it. So, I hope, they gave the same solution. See you girls, a huge kiss for you, and again I so sorry, no all mexicans are like that.

    Delta is the best to go on when visiting Mexico for sure! I hated flying with Aeromexico. I've never flown into Mexico City Airport, just Cancun Airport. Cancun Airport is the best to fly into, much less hectic. Sorry to hear of your terrible experience with the terrible airline :(

    The staffs were very unprofessional. I'm sorry about your experience. I felt bad about you guys. You missed your flight because of the error of the staff (is it really error or purposely done?), stayed at the airport for 14 more hours (the airline company should have provided a hotel for you because it was their staffs' fault) and you spend more money for the tickets (which should be given to you free because it's their fault that you missed your flight). The staffs weren't really helpful at all. Thank you for sharing this to your vlogg. A lot of people will learn about the procedures of checkin in until boarding to your airbus at Mexico airport. I shared this to my social media account so the other people will learn a lesson from your experience. Maybe these AeroMexico staffs victimized a lot of people but people had no proofs. You have proofs and you showed it to the whole world.

    Our worst experience with AeroMexish*t:
    Back on 2018, My parent's company had a bussiness trip to Mexico so me and my 7 year old sister had to go with them. When we had to depart to Manila, our flight should be 9 am (mexican time). Then they said that our flight was cancelled so our schedule was moved to 12 pm. Then we missed our flight, kasi hindi pala cancelled yung flight may aberya lang sa machine. Pero inaccommodate naman kami nang maayos and then they booked a flight for us but 3 days late than our expected day to depart from Manila.

    I nearly missed my flight with them at Mexico City going to Puerto Vallarta as they kept switching gate number without announcing it on speaker (lucky I kept looking at the monitors), they did it again and again.....and again the last minute. Real incompetent AeroMexico, did they at least re-imburse you ladies in the end?

    Wow! I really feel bad for you girls tbh. I ever experienced miss flight once before where I was left in Amsterdam (KLM) due to short period of transit. Then when i told them my situation, they understood and gave me a new ticket without any charge. I almost cried that time cause i was rushing and overwhelmed. I hope you get reimburse and have a nice travel

    I am so sorry for you. My daughter spent over 24 hours in the airport when she had a confined US flight. It was horrible for her.

    Sometimes the plane has to board of since it takes them 3:00 minutes to check the controls and imagine if they let them go in then the pilot would have to re-do the check again. I hope this wouldn't happen to you guys again. Please people don't let this affect on the Mexicans. The ones to blame are the workers and staffs in Aeromexico.

      I'm mexican and I immediatly recognized the behaviour of the check-in personnel, they tried to hide their mistake and get away with no accountability. Bad publicity usually solve this.

      Could we all stop comparing each others country airlines? Its not the time to judge and show off what each other country has. Be proud of what you country has to the point where your not gonna show off what your country has, and without judging each other countries. This is just a video, and clearly makes everyone fight over their countries. Guys, this is just a bad experience of these girls from this airline and has nothing to do with anything, with the people of the country, the culture, or anything.

      Im from Mexico and I don't recommend that airline, they lost my family bags because we miss the airplane the personal give us a false hour and we arrive later

      They didn't hear their name called they call the names like 4 times and aero Mexico is the best Mexican airline much better than volaris Viva interjet and it's one mistake jeez United and spirit makes much much worse mistakes yet it seems like if they get less hate because of it also welcome to the real frickin world

      Life in Mhai Eyes yes, cebupac is very much known for that. Seems like this is a common practice of aero mexico. 1. Withholding your immigration papers. 2. Having readily printed copies of your boarding passes with the immigration papers. 3. Your baggage, waiting for you at the counter instead of being inside the plane already. To much coincidences to be random. I'd say its a very well orchistrated routine. They should be publicly shamed for this. Hit them where it hurts.

    I just saw this vlog. My husband and I went to Mexico City in May 2019 and took AeroMexico back to LAX. We had the WORST experience! Of course the airline does not speak for the City as we both loved it. AeroMexico needs to get it together!
