Had mine for about 3 weeks. Delicious cans. Really nice build quality and superb sound quality. Tonal balance extremely good - nothing jumps out or drops away. Really fast - excitement abounds with all forms of music. Easy to drive - my old Note 1 can handle them just fine. Lovely clean low low bass. Never muddy or confused. I'm running mine from an SMSL SP200THX amp and the combination works very well. I can hear notable differences in DACs with this set up. That says it all...
Great to find out such an energetic pair of planars are available for less then 1000 Euro, my favorite category :) I'm giving those a serious thought! Thanks for the review, man, a real eye opener.
I also own this pair of headphones and I agree with Sandu 100%. The dynamics they are capable of are just amazing. I think this is the most fun and the most technically advanced pair of headphones you can find under 1000$, but also above if you ask me. They can stand up to headphones more expensive than 3000$. Great review, Sandu! Good job!
Hi! I't seems that (meanwhile) you are mostly using your hifiman instead of the quad - do you still like / recommend the Era-1 or would you change your overall conclusion after half a year? (we all know the new toy syndrome.. ;) I already own a Hifiman Edition X v2 and i'm thinking about buying the era-1 as kind of complement. But i'm not sure if the Quad does something really better than the Hifiman. Would be great to hear you opinion :-)
I love my Quads to death and I do recommend them. For electronica and rock/metal Quads are unbeatable. Bass and Midrange to die for (when properly driven)
@@Soundnews Great, thx for the response! :-) I think i will order a pair! Do you, as many users, also prefer the leather pads over the hybrid-velours? Have a nice day!
Hi Sandu, I am looking for a tube headphone amp to run my ERA-1's through. Obviously the low impedance makes tubes tricky. Can you recommend anything that you have experience of?
It would be a decent pairing. Planar-magnetic headphone weren't made to be driven by portable devices, with the exception of powerful digital audio players. You will be probably listening to them at 80% of their potential, maybe a bit less.

I have these, too, and i think your description is very accurate. So quick, so balanced, so detailed...
Does this still complete? - say w. a new Sundara? - how does it stack up to the new Arya Stealth?…

Hi, i have Dragonfly red am dac. How do you think, Would such a paring be able to play?

How does this headphones work with Singxer sa-1 ?
I bought a pair but i had to return them :( they dident fit my head, almost 1cm gap at the top of my head and the headband.
Sad, my wife have the same problem. Hopefully their next headband design will be better..
You could have used Dekoni Nuggets to fix it. Quite comfortable, and cheap.
@@barchetype6430 i Think I am goin to rebuy them then 😀

quad era-1 vs arya vs lcd x,
thank you,
good review..
I just picked this up for 525 USD on the used market.
veri- veri nice.LIKE
At this price plastic is unacceptable especially in that part of the gear.
Tell that to Stax.
Plastic is fantastic. It’s light, resists condensation, and doesn’t influence the electric field.
