    Great job, and Dont let the fellas smeared with peanut butter and jealousy get you down. I for one know of the rare species of human, called the jackemass❤

    Fantastic find! Looks like it's in great condition. Steatite is fairly heavy and being as thick as it is it may also have been an atlatl weight.

      Yes exactly my thoughts as well! Weight very likely. But its in such good shape.

    How did they drill the holes through stone?

    • @BelowWithBo
      @BelowWithBo  День тому

      With a flaked tool they made into a drill bit. Would have been attached to an arrow and a bow like objects string wrappers around the shaft and spun quickly to make the bit drill. I’ll make a video of process one day

    Definitely find of a lifetime, good thing that gorget was below the plow zone, huge congrats!!! If it’s steatite, be careful cleaning it, can scratch fairly easy😎😎😎

    There's absolutely no evidence that natives wore gorgets on their arms. If I'm wrong then point me in the right direction to where I can find that archaeological study, thanks. Yes, once in a lifetime find congrats!!!

      Yes they were, 50 year old artifact veteran close friends with Mr Dickey himself told me this information. He was actually standing with Dickey as i texted him a photo of the find while I still was in the hole. I remember him saying men in North GA and southeast Tennessee found bodies unearthed with it in bicep placement between elbow and shoulder. No reason to doubt him A genuine collector and well studied. I could argue neck placement as well as archeology says. Similar to nutting stone argument and use.

      @@BelowWithBo someone saying it's so isn't evidence, without actual archaeological evidence that one can read them it's hearsay no matter who's saying it. Words without facts mean nothing in a scientific world, no disrespect to you.

      Plus if these veteran artifact gurus as you speak so highly of didn't record the archaeological evidence of what is and has been known as a problematic artifact then they would have to be some of the dumbest people ever.

      “Guru” didn’t find it in bicep placement, friends of his did. They have no reason to lie about placement nor does he I take his word for what it’s worth to whomever, It doesn’t matter where it was worn to me nor do I argue my point as fact, I don’t. Simple publicity would be a valid reason they didn’t document the find long ago or imo. I’m all to well familiar with secrecy and poachers

      @@flinteastwood7179 dude. I'm sure you know that many artifacts aren't shown or given to archeologists. Do you have proof that they DIDN'T wear these on their arms? Oh ok! Then shut up.
