You were one of the musicians that inspired me, as a woman in her thirties with no music experience, to pick up a flute and start learning music. Thank you for all that you've done! And welcome back!
Love this. I greatly appreciate that you talk about how much work goes into a video and performance. Too many times, an audience doesn't know or quite appreciate how much work goes into editing and practice. Lots of practice and set up. Awesome. Love it. I picked up my flute again this morning.
I know being a professional musician and making videos must be so time consuming. Thanks for the update! You've done some great stuff in the past year and you should be proud!
Hi Katie, I think making another 1 minute, 10 minute and 1 hour challenge would be quite for for both you and your viewers! Anyways, its up to you, I enjoy every bit of content you create!
Woah didn't see this video until today - I found your channel during covid and your style of videos has matured a lot - the concert venue looks so awesome! I have been getting more busy with gigs recently and I have been in a bit of a lazy place the past few weeks with motivation but it is so inspiring to hear how busy you are and all the amazing things you are doing!!
Bonjour de Paris! I love your candid video and wish you ll the best. I have picked up playing flute again after many years of doing other musical projects. Nice to see NYC and the scene there again!
Hello! I’m Laura, and 🌷 this is your second blog I watch and I got to say that I’m loving your work, i’m a musician to (violinist, pianist, singer… and recently ukulele playerxD) so it feels awesome to finally watch a blog that is about the things I love the most (orchestra, music, rehearsals, composers…) I feel like after finding your blogs I don’t want to watch other people’s blogs anymore! (They feel like trash to me after watching yours haha 😅) …Because the rest of the bloggers are so shallow (only showing clothes, food, etc but nothing interesting, deep or real like you)… I’m from Mexico by the way haha, so I hope my English is good. Thank you so much, and don’t worry if you are to busy to post often, the important thing here is what you do outside youtube, and if you have free time and upload something every once and a while it will be great to, i send you a big hug. 🦋
So nice having you back. Even knowing it might be this one and only video. I love seeing natural, in situations nearly without makeup, reflecting your past. It made me realize how much you have grown! This is really nice! 👍❤️👍
i’ve been checking every so often to check if you’ve posted a new youtube video, and here we are! you’ve been active on tiktok, which i been aware of, but i’m so glad you’re back!! 💗
Gosh, I remember the video when you got Miguel as a puppy! He's absolutely adorable. Congratulations on your engagement. Your ring is so beautiful and unique. I think many musicians have this perfectionistic personality which can translate to all areas of life. It comes from practicing so hard to get every note right and lets face it the music world as a professional is competitive. It's hard not to tie ones self-esteem with how one plays or what auditions or competitions you do well in. I've had to grow out of that mentally myself and when you do it is really freeing.
Just a little while back one of your videos popped up on UA-cam and I had wondered where you went. Anyway, it's kinda funny to watch this as someone else in New York, and in the music world. Each time you mention something I'm just like, "Oh yea I remember that" or "I was right by there" etc. So anyway, my favorite Met fun fact is that many of the bathrooms backstage still have ashtrays in the stalls.
Hi Katie. It’s so lovely to see you again, and congratulations on your engagement. I’m currently working towards my Grade 5 flute practical with Trinity College with the hopes of taking the exam in April. I can’t wait to see all of your upcoming flute content xx
Musical life updates!!! I had my first (and hopefully last) college audition at the school I applied early decision for, and I played Chaminade and Sonata in Eb Major by Bach. It went really well so hopefully I got in. And then I just had Allstate auditions and placed fourth in my state!!! So flute has been going well :)
Very glad to have you back. Tiles? That should provide some crazy acoustics. I understand your busy life. I am retired and can attest to the peace and joy that comes from slowing down. Love your music selections.
I randomly stumbled upon your video and it was super fun to watch! I played the flute back in middle school (over 10 years ago now) and this made me want to pick it up again just for fun 😊 God bless you!
I just finished a concert to which one of the pieces was the William Tell Overture! It went really well. I’m also auditioning for the National Youth Orchestra so that’s something new. You’re an amazing player and I love seeing a week in your life! Very inspiring. 😄😄
So nice to see you again, Katie! I was sincerely worried about you but after watching this video what I feel is joy. I wish much success and happiness to you and all those who love you. Sincerely... a fan from Brazil.
You could post literally anything and I’d watch. Been loving your content on tiktok too!!! Glad you are back and prioritizing your wellbeing. Happy Holidays 😊
I love that you’re posting on UA-cam again. Your playing videos are the greatest inspiration for me when I have to decide what piece to take on next. I’m an amateur flute player who’s played on an off for the past 18 years. You introduced me to Reflections and I loved it. With the help of my teacher I managed to learn the piece. I really hope you find joy and motivation to post again! Just know that your content motivated and inspired and of course entertained this player very much! 😊
since your last post I have joined a community band and a college band......haven't played in a LONG time because I was so burned out.....didn't know how to say no before.....I do now....I'm enjoying myself and playing again.....
Kaatie--you are a sweetheart! I My daughter moved to NYC---upper west side, one block from central park. You are definitely a rung above me, but I do teach flute. While visiting my daughter in her studio apartment a few months ago, I literally taught online flute lessons in her bathroom, sitting on the toilet seat. LOL. Gotta do what you gotta do! Enjoy your NYC playing. It's a magical place!
Welcome back Katie! Wonderful news about your engagement and the many concerts in many types of venues. Don't stress about things too much, we all understand when life tends to get in the way of our plans. Make your music your priority and then what you can do for web content in between will be fine with us! ☺️
I LOVE everything about these videos. As an adult player that put down my flute for 3 years after college (been playing for 10 years) and wanting to come back to it, these are so inspiring and helpful, and the subtitles are amazing also ❤
Oh, yes, Peter Grimes is full of amazing music....for sure, the 4 Sea Interludes, but also Grimes' final mad scene...check out Jon Vickers performing this. It will change what you think about what is possible in opera singing:ua-cam.com/video/OWT0jsCbl28/v-deo.html btw, I'm a clarinetist who's also an opera singer, and I double on sax and flute (just practiced some Handel sonatas to work on my sound).
Haha! Could be the Bartok, could be the weather 😅 I know my head often hurts when the weather shifts back & forth. My musician update is that I am in the throes of Young Artist Program auditions and I have my fingers tightly crossed! As for projects, prepping a recital and a concert version of Werther for 3 voices, harp & piano. I am loving deciphering Massenet and his unique musical language. Also hoping to catch The Hours at the Met!
This is my first viewing of your vlog. So nice to meet you. I loved hearing about your day. I am a singer, teacher and performer. Try to breathe and relax a bit to release some stress. Looking forward to seeing more videos when you feel up to it. Thanks so much for sharing.
I'd love to see you do a collab with The Financial Diet! I'm super curious to hear about the financials of being a professional musician and going through training, auditions, conservatories, etc
I was actually just thinking, Hey, katieflute hasn't posted in a while. Awesome that Jeremías got into the Met Orchestra! The brother of my first violin teacher played in that orchestra from '73 until '20: Scott Brubaker, second horn and then, for the last couple years of his career, fourth horn.
So glad to see you back with your videos! They are fun and inspiring. I just got around to scheduling another lesson soon. You are great at keeping me really motivated to play my best.
So glad to have you back! And so appreciate your need to take time for yourself. Thank you for your beautiful music and insight into life as a musician!
So glad you're posting on here again! Your vlogmas came up on my feed earlier this year and it was so motivating to watch again :) I've since decided to prepare an audition for a B.M. in Music Education at my local university. Since Covid I haven't practiced very seriously, so I'll be having to get myself back to "shape" >.< Congrats on all of the amazing things happening for you! And it was so nice to see Miguel
Good to see you back on UA-cam Katie! We've been missing you a lot, and it's really nice to see you happy, working hard, and taking your music everywhere. Congratulations to you Jeremias on your engagement! And we are looking forward to the next vlogs!
Yay! Glad you’re back! Lately, I’ve been playing with a pop-up orchestra called Awesome Orchestra here in the Bay Area. It’s been great! The group doesn’t require auditions and everyone receives the music about a couple weeks before we all meet up to rehearse AND perform the music to a small audience. But it’s mainly about being able to play music without too much time commitment, the pressure, and the need to be “perfect”. It’s therapeutic. Also, I get the need to be so “perfect” that it often paralyzes me into doing anything at all. I call it being a Capricorn. Haha.
I remember since i was 4 or 5 (that means 10 years by now), I would enjoy taking lessons on the flute, albeit I had a slow-paced class because of my ADHD/ASD. I do not expect to be high enough in skill to attend Julliard for many many years, but just a quick question: how many years of experience did you get in to Julliard with?
I'm so happy you are back! I really enjoyed your posts during the lockdown. Congratulations on your engagement, great news! Don't put too much stress on yourself and I'm looking forward to the future posts. Watching from Japan . . . (just an amateur Japanese flute player).
hii i'm so glad to see you back!! when i subscribed i had never played a flute, i only had been playing the violin for around 8 years. since your last video i actually did buy a flute and now i have been playing for a few months and it's partly thanks to you so thank you
I’m so happy you posted. Don’t wanna make you feel obligated to post (definitely), feel as free and welcomed to post, but I do love when I watch one of your videos 😅 Also, you make me inspired to play the flute more, so thank you :))
I love your videos! Great to see one new after a long time! It looks like, life of a NY musician is busy, busy, busy! So much to do and practice! Take care of yourself and dont stress too much, I am sure, you are an amazing player :-) Many greetings from Germany!
Great to see you again. Just so bummed that you don't post on instagram anymore, I loved your stories and content there. Looking forward to your next video.
Missed you so much! So happy to hear from you again and i really hope you can have a healthy relationship with creating new content and youtube and everything; we will support you no matter the rythm, we love you katie! ❤❤
I have been playing the flute for a year and when I started I was the best even though there were people in my school that played for over 2 years. I was just kinda a prodigy and you have been inspired me to play for longer and I just want to make sure you know that you are inspiring and basically a expert. Oh welcome back Katie!
So nice to see you back Katie! You were one of the first flute UA-camrs I found who really encouraged me to play the flute, I really loved the diverse videos type and it sometimes pushed me to learn!
So happy to hear your updates. My private instructor is a Flute PhD student at a local university and we were discussing UA-cam flutists and you came up as one of my favorites. She said her friend knows you and said you are one of the kindest and most genuine humans! She said from what she’s heard you are 100% yourself on your channel and I love that you are so genuine. In a world of perfection and curated influencers thank you for being human and letting go of perfection of that’s hurting your soul. All the best.
You were one of the musicians that inspired me, as a woman in her thirties with no music experience, to pick up a flute and start learning music. Thank you for all that you've done! And welcome back!

Hurray, Katie is back, love your vlogs and videos!

so happy for your engagement, im glad things are going well
Hi Katie, I think making another 1 minute, 10 minute and 1 hour challenge would be quite for for both you and your viewers! Anyways, its up to you, I enjoy every bit of content you create!
I will definitely add that to the list! Is there any particular piece you think I should try it with?
@@katieflute I really like the Quantz Flute Concerto in G Major. It's not too hard but its great!
Also, the Taktakishvili Flute Sonata is one of my favourites!

Right?! I can't believe how fast the time goes. 🐶Thanks so much for watching and for your comment.

Thanks so much Jacob!

Congrats on the engagement!

Thanks!!! ♥ This is definitely growth! 🍀

So nice to see you back, I’ve been wondering how you were doing!
Idk why, but that crescendo at 0:06 was so good it made me laugh 😅
Interestingly, you have Cyrillic on the notes 🥰
So good to see you post again. Love watching your videos!
A new video Katie. So cool. Thank you!

Love Peter grimes. Had to play four sea interludes and it was such a challenge but I loved the end result.
I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we are all over joyed to see that you are back 😊
You are my biggets idol!!❤️🎶be a flutist is my biggest dream
Maybe you can use that flute to stir the spaghetti since you will soon be a homemaker/mother.
How sweet to have you back! Katie!
