I also did buy a new flute a week ago. I've played for years on a Yamaha student model flute and I also tried many different instruments - Powell, Haynes, Sankyo, Muramatsu etc. In the end I ended up buying a used Muramatsu GX standard model for 5.200€ (bought in September 2023 at Just Flutes London) instead for at least 6.800€ brand new.
I bought a new flute back in May of this year. It’s my first gold flute, a Powell 9k Aurumite! It’s pre-owned and I knew it would be my forever flute after my Azumi 3 I’ve had since my sophomore year of high school - I love the sound possibilities of a gold and silver combo. She plays like a dream 🩷🩷
Blistex medicated..... its the blue one. Pack of three so you have them in different places. Always use before you go to bed. When you wake up all is repaired. Hope this works for you too. My flute friend introduced me to it last winter.
I play the clarinet, and I am a beginner again, after 18 years of not playing. I have a Jupiter student clarinet that I really enjoy. I miss my clarinet from back in the day, though, that I unfortunately gave away and regret now. It was a Vito LeBlanc. I've never played an intermediate or professional instrument. But I LOVE your new flute. I remember your vlog with the Powell flute sparking your interest. Congratulations on your new Muramatsu! I really enjoyed your channel, I found you through the cheap pink flute videos and have been watching you ever since!
I recently bought my Miyazawa 602 with the full Brögger mechanism, which is to DIE for. It is the 958 silver with a gold riser and it’s dreamy. It’s the closest sound I can get to a solid gold flute without paying for solid gold, I feel.
I play on a Brannen Heavy wall with a Nagahara headjoint with an 18k gold riser. I feel like the riser gave me a good cross between silver sound and gold tone color manipulation :))
I do not play the flute. I play the piano. So I don't know flute brands, but it is always fun to find that new instrument that fits you. This reminds me i need to get a new piano.
I just got a new Yamaha... to replace my old Yamaha. 😆 What can I say? I had my flute 24 years. I tried lots of flutes but I think I'm too old a dog to teach new tricks. I'm happy with my choice. I'm glad you are too!
I wanted to say, that I‘ve heard, that there are many teachers recommending different flute brands and special flutes. As the mother of my student asked, if I can recomment one, I said, that this is different for everyone, with which brand it works. She played a Thomann before, so she’s an intermediate player and tried different ones and liked Yamaha, so they bought the Yamaha. I had tried Yamaha before and didn‘t liked it, but the friend, who had the Yamaha I tried, didn‘t liked Pearl, which I had from the beginning. I tried Muramatsu too, but at the Moment, I can‘t afford it. But liked the Muramatsu 14K actually. 🥰 Didn‘t tried a silver one. In Germany, there is only one seller for the golden ones.
I play a Brannen Cooper w/ a gold riser. I love it. But I got it like… 25 years ago and I feel like technology w/ the head joints change all the time. I’d be interested in playing a new flute or adding a different head joint to my flute. Have you ever played a wood head joint on your metal flute or switched up head joints? Love your vlogs!

I use a Miyazawa 102. I'm just a hobby player so silver-plated is good enough for me.
Muramatsu DS or SR?

I think it’s a heavy wall Muramatsu DS. The key work and case are muramatsu
My guess is a Muramatsu flute with a Faulisi headjoint.

And I have the Pearl PF665RE, so it‘s a silver headjoint and a silver plated body with open hole keys, or how it‘s called in english. 😂
My guess is a Muramatsu SR with silver soldered toneholes 👀
I think it's a silver Sankyo
I think it’s another Muramatsu!

My Haynes never leaks.
Brand new flutes will, also after a COA, they have to be “played in”
