- Old 16mm vacation films were recently discovered at a garage sale in San Jose, CA by Tim Peddy and converted to digital courtesy of The California Pioneers of Santa Clara County. The unknown photographer travels from Jacksonville to Daytona Beach. All Rights Reserved
WOW! What a beautiful presentation, down to the sweet music.
Thanks, Mark.
The Alligator Farm is still an active and popular attraction in the St. Augustine area. The stone clock tower and related stone structures still stand in Daytona Beach. Thanks for preserving and presenting us with film footage that could have very easily been lost to the ages if it wasn't for a few caring people far away.
thanks
St. Augustine, Florida looks so beautiful! Thank you for converting the footage to digital and sharing on UA-cam.
Thank you so much for sharing these! Absolutely stunning look back in time at "old Florida".
Loved every second of this. THANK YOU!
Wow really clean n clear for the type of film, and the age of the film. This is a little treasure gem!
I totally agree. Although I've learned since this time how to color correct better. Sorry.
Just great! Thanks!
awesome music choice. great video.
Much better choice of music! Period music is best for these old films, don't you think?
Shared this on "The Real Florida" facebook page. This is great and thanks for preserving such great footage.
This is really a remarkable movie. It's just fascinating, a true window into the past, and the film quality is superb.
Maybe putting it on UA-cam will somehow unearth the descendants of the original traveler/filmmaker.
The choices for the soundtrack are excellent as well.
Thanks. These films are a genuine treasure. (I've found four, I think that is the whole set)
No... you're only talking about Florida images. Originally, there were eighteen different 1,220 foot reels of color film dating from 1939 to 1952. The film maker first traveled the Pacific in late 1939 and then across America in 1942 and after the war went through Mexico and Central America. Finally a cruise to So America out of New Orleans in the early 50's. I agree... great images. One of the best garage sales finds ever! Ironically it was just before he was to close up and everything in the house had already been sold BUT these reels. We got them all for $20 just so he could lock up and go home.
Wonderful Find!
I love saint Augustine !! From Jax , but I want to live there !!! Miss you my pirate peeps !!!

What version of Moon Over Miami is playing?
I used two versions: I started with Jimmy Cook and then went with Eddie Duchin
Why does this video make me think of Denny's
Wow, back when Daytona was clean and not infested with homeless people, especially the park and bandshell area.
hahaha i like that st augustine still looks the same =)
*Sigh* If only it did. People who grew up there in the 1940's know it's definitely not the same. *Sigh*
Peaceful life while the Americans let everyone else do the fighting.
Gave the USSR weapons
America didn’t start the war. She finished it.
Moon over Miami is a long song,,
Two different versions in order to stretch it out to the end of the film available to me.
