I bought your pattern several years ago, after seeing the finished quilt at someone's home. I made my trees random sizes from large to small and then fit them together like a puzzle. I made placemats and a small wallhanging. I get so many compliments on them! This video is a great way to explain the process. Now I want to make a quilt with all the trees! Thank you!
🏖Thank you for this nice looking, stress free block and your relaxed teaching. I need my sewing time to be PEACEFUL. However, I probably won’t be able to help myself when I put the trunk dead center. 😂🤗
Thank you so much for the encouraging. Way of explaining and doing the Christmas tree block. I loved it to follow the video and I will try to do a lot of different trees 😉👍greetings fr from Freiburg, Germany, black forest 🎄🇩🇪 Jutta
Just found this. I am going to make some small blocks as mug rugs for a christmas gift for my new neighbour. Thank you so much from England for a wonderful tutorial.
Omg…I just spent some $$ for pattern & template and here you come with EZ Christmas tree blocks. I would love to see the quilts you’ve made with this technique. Thank you so much for an easier way to make the trees! I’d love to see more of your work!
Made a rather big quilt a couple of years ago. Don't buy a Christmas tree since, just hang the quilt. I love this kind of creativity. Love from Switzerland
I just found you on a blog, I really enjoyed it. I also like your free form tutorial on trees. I have just started free form/improve quilting and having fun with it......thank you for sharing.
A couple years ago I bought a triangle template to make my daughter a tree wall hanging. I dislike buying specialty templates, but she wanted the walls hanging so badly! I wish I had seen this before hand!!!! I love the simplicity of the way you made these! I just might have to make another wall hanging 😉
OMG...you are one of my favorite designers, and then I came across this! This is too awesome. Thank you, Amy, from the bottom of my heart!!! Dr Susan Ainsworth Decatur Il
Really cute, and a great stash buster to boot. I haven't tried making trees yet, but this one *looks* the easiest of all the tutorials I've watched. Being able to make them in any size you want/need is definitely a plus. Thanks for posting! EDIT - I just made a practice pair using some scrap fabric. These are really quick, easy, and fun to make - although next time, I'll make the "body" of the trees a little bigger, as there's a lot of background above them. I started with 6-1/2" squares & they finished up at a scant 5-1/2".
I LOVE the fact that more people are coming to this old gals style of quilting... i call it FBTSOMP! I'm 72 and always marched to my own drummer...cannot said total "balance"...Join in "youngsters "... let go of the constant STRIVE for perfection if creating! GrammaBabs
Had a great time doing a wall hanging quilt with this block and love the results! This is easy and creates a beautiful holiday quilt, even for someone like me who just started quilting and hasn't even been sewing for very long. And a smaller wall hanging version on a wooden branch or drift wood makes a beautiful, original holiday gift!
Hi Amy! This just popped in my view! You make that look so easy and doable. I think I will start to make a few for Christmas gifts 🎁 . A Heartfelt thank ♥ you so much!
I’ve been watching video after video looking for an easy way to make Christmas trees for a Christmas quilt. Your method looks so simple and easy. Just what I was looking for! Thank-you very much. :) I can’t wait to try it!
thank you for making this video! I live in the middle of the forest in the pacific NW and I'm going to make an evergreen tree quilt to use year round! My fabric will arrive sometime this week and I'm very excited to get started! I really appreciate your video because I was going to try and wing it to make trees, but I see how there is almost no wasted fabric when you stack up the fabrics and cut them all at once! So neat! Thank you!
Can anyone share a pictures of completed forest quilts? I am trying to use gifted, dark, green fabric and create a forest, lap sized quilt for a winter, solstice grandson’s arrival.
Thanks for your clear instructions about how to "improv" these blocks! This is so outside of my comfort zone, but this has given me the encouragement to try it!!
Thank you so much for this! I am in the process of making a Christmas quilt and wanted something to add into the border. This will be such a cut addition to my dresden plates and star blocks.
Fell in love with the Patchwork Forest quilt the minute I saw it and bought the pattern from your site, but this video helped so much, too. I've just made a bunch of these blocks to sew together for a table runner, but if I ever do a full size quilt, it's likely to be a Patchwork Forest style. Your video made this so easy to do, especially the fact that you make it so easy and fun. Thanks a million!
Thank you for your tutorial. I have seen you trees blocks before, but did not try it, since your tutorial, it seems easy and I will try it. I like this block and hope to see more of your tutorials. Thank you. Sandra B.
I love everything you do. You have the best Craftsy classes (it’s 2021 and Craftsy is BACK!), and the best blog. I learned to quilt from you and I am forever grateful. This was a fun tutorial. I love the clever way you set it up, making it easy and fun. The fabric choices are inspiring and it was good to see how you handled the geometrical issues, matching up patterns.
Hi! I don't have a video of sewing these specific blocks together, but I do have a beginner series that will show all of the steps for assembling a quilt - including sewing blocks together in rows - here: www.diaryofaquilter.com/beginning-quilting-series
M friend Amy Chappell made a cute snow-capped mountain block using this same method: www.diaryofaquilter.com/2019/11/snow-capped-mountain-improv-quilt-block.html
