You forgot a very important step at the end, and that is to bake the painted actors into instanced meshes, if not, the performance will be horrible when you fill a whole map with these.

@@ivailo7 there is a button in the menu that bakes it, you can see it in the video.
could you bake most of them and leave a few of them to be interactive? so it has physics.
I am the developer of this tool, 5.3 is out, I have fixed this crashing bug, but I wanna test it in more environment, so please try to use the new one and let me know if you still getting crashes,
also there is a "Damp Velocity" check mark at the top, if you turn it off the object will fall normally and you don't have to wait.

This was already a thing in the VR Editor. If you wnt to make a splash, re-invigorate the VR Editor for Unreal I will buy that!

I do something similar just adding the meshes I want scattered around and just add physics, simulate, move stuff around where you want it, select all the meshes you want locked in place and pick the option to keep simulation changes. Done. But this is cleaner and more professional.
A lot of copy of paste of meshes to get a lot of meshes quickly.
You can also do this but this is more time saving!

Would the idea be to change all of their collisions to simple after they have settled where you want them to so they perform better?
I don’t know why but simple doesn’t work with gravity option. It seems like a bug.
With all due respect, you yourself need a tutorial on collision in UE.
No doubt. That was a lot of extra steps, Why the Simple as Complex? Just need basic collision to fall on floor,..
script would be cooler if it auto added a default collision type when they are added to the physical layout "bucket" or whatever it is called by the dev. surely the new version will have this.

...it is constantly crashing when trying to bake as soon as you reached a critical mass of instances (which is in my case like 50)
wait wait wait, you set the collision to complex? First time you add auto collision and then you set the collision to complex? Whats the reason for this cause the complex collision is the mesh
does this also work in runtime? It would be cool to use this to procedurally fill the cargo hold of a vehicle.
Even without this tool,. In runtime you can just put all your 'cargo load' above the truck, hit play so they all all in the truck, then while it is still in runtime, select all the objkect and hit the K key on keyboard (for Keep live changes, then when you hit stop, the meshes will stay in their new place.

This is good for putting meshes over each other! Faster and easier for specific places.

Epic Launcher is a piece of work. Restart it and it should let you.
OR you can get DASH plugin and do that as easy as seconds.. instead of goign through the entire mess.. hahaahahahaha
Unfortunately not! I am here to offer useful free plugins and some creators prefer it as for “free learning”. Maybe dash is useful but it had a lot of bugs.

@@lonewolf_studio its a pluing on a start up. but it can save you hours of work nonetheless.. i was against Dash at the beginning but once I used it... BOYYAAA.. am all for it!. and it will only get better. kind of lole METASHOOT... am loving that one as well...

There's an alternative to dash, it's promethean AI. Do you know it, what do you think about it?
