The Yamaha Raptor still has that noise! What could it be?
New project starting next video! It's a change up from the quads!
Please SUBSCRIBE an LIKE the video if you enjoyed! It really helps me out a lot!
Thank you for all the support!
I saw you got a three wheeler I think nice keep up the good work I'll keep giving you support.
Remove the skid plate Completly
Exhaust heat shield
Sounds too high a pitch for inside motor.
I could use one of the rear break packs
Oh lord can someone please bless this man with a pipe😂😂
hahah
I’ll take the stock one
Looks like he has money 😂
Wow, unbelievable at all the people that think a pipe is going to save the day.
U get 3 in a pack 2 for the front 1 for the back brakes
Also, pretty sure they will fit honda as well.
Some people can't think that hard
And you will need all the extras lol 660’s eat pads
Trash the front brake calipers and convert them to the yfz450 calipers
I would have took the whole skid plate off to see if it was the problem
yep this guy is a bozo the “extra brake pads” are for the front lol
I found your channel as i was in search of buying my first bike and i have learned many things from your videos, They're very informative and you're super clear with explanations so thanks for the knowledge vintage, to much more to learn!
The exhaust heat shield mabye rattling?
I checked...not it unfortunately
@@2vintage age
@@2vintage metal skids plate can rattle put foam on skid plate to minimize vibration
Take the whole skid plate off and see if it eliminates the noise
You should recheck the compression now that you've adjusted the valves.. a slightly open valve (tight) can cause loss of compression
Yeah I was going to but forgot haha. I will check compression again. I'm pretty sure it's just the decompression messing with the compression though.
Take the skid plate off and still see if it rattles 👍🏻good vid
Anything I can help you with or I notice similar to mine, I'll try and help you out. Not a mechanic but I've been working on it and been on every raptor forum. It's a great machine, wait until you get use to it. I did 88 miles in one afternoon in upstate NY near Adirondacks this summer, literally one of the best days of my life. I just love the machine, very happy for you.
I think I might know a trick for that compression release. On some of the old tractors I work on there is a compression release on the camshaft. To get an accurate reading I would roll the engine over backwards and that usually works. Maybe it would work on your 660.
Not certain but i dont think 660s have a compression release. My 02 doesn't anyways. Now my ktm 525exc did and it was a twat
Hey Joe I'm not mistaking that sounds like an exhaust clamp that is loose or something with the exhaust keep up with the good videos and don't pay no mind to the haters
Aint no one hating
Try snatching second in the middle of your wheelies. Or pop it up in second at a roll. Wheelies will be more controllable. 👍
When joe try’s to sound like he knows what he’s doing 🤣🤣🤣
Hes really knowledgeable. Do you know more about bikes than Joe? Proberbly not buddy
You've left him 3 separate comments giving him grief. Why? Your being a keyboard warrior and you know it. Hes rebuilt 4 stroke engines etc... could you do that? Noooooo
@@motomash6143 I think everyone knows more than him buddy
@@motomash6143 fun fact, I can and I have
@@bradymoeller203 ok pal if you say so
Those intake valves being tight will def affect the pressure. I think ur fine on compression myself. Noise is def skid plate. Good stuff man.
I had a raptor 660r before and I had the same rattle noise I found out there was a rock between the skid plate. I would take off the skid plate to see if there’s a rock or something rattling
Take the skid plate off and se if it still makes the noise
The extra pads are probably for the front
I'll take the rear brake pads? I have a 01 660 r... great job on the fix!!
Amazon has a stainless reverse knob bracket for $10 not sure if that's your issue but it worked for my 660
Thank you, I will check it out!
I have a 07 Yamaha raptor 350 the rattle that you have sounds like coming from heat shield or muffler bracket
Front and rear brake pads are all the same, you received a complete set of pads for the quad. Also check your exhaust and make sure the rattle isn't coming from there.
We need some old bikes in here
Next video
I'm hoping so me and my dad rebuilt a d old honda
Timing chain slapping or Maybe the motor mount bolts are loose
Check the clutch throw arm rod maybe twisted out of alignment. Is the muffler bolts loose around the crush sleeve.& on the engine itself. Those will make that rattling noise to.
Take the skid plate off btw. Just kuzu it seems tight doesn't mean it's not rattling
I will have to do that
I have a 2007 raptor 700 and it rattle when it was in high rev and it was the skid plate the bolts where tight but still rattle so i bought this tape cushion and put it around the skid plate where it touches the frame and tighten it again and the rattle was gone.
@@2vintage I think it could be the heat cover on the pipe
@@itsyoboydaniel8570 That's funny i have the same exact quad as you and i had to do the same thing! lol
@@loganw4189 looks like its missing a bolt?
I've used a mechanics stethoscope for my car to find a whining noise. That would help you find it I believe. Keep up the good vids
A piece of heater hose works great or water hose
Did you check compression after adjusting valve?
No he blamed the battery for the low reading he said the valves r fine it was just the battery giving it a low reading haha I've heard it all now
Getting famous off of comments day 149, so I can live the dream, live life to the fullest🚀🤙🚀
not giving a shit year 17
You need to put rubber in between the frame and skid plate
Yeah do you still think that noise is the skid plate?
2vintage yeah I would say so
It is the skid plate I had mine tightened all the way and had to add little slivers of rubber to get it to stop from rattling
Dude you got a lot of good vids keep up the stuff.😃👍
I was wondering if you could Get a Suzuki ltz400
Ltz’s have a lot of problems with the cams. Your can’t adjust the valves with out shims and the cam gear are just pressed onto the camshaft. So the gear spins on the shaft. Messing up the timing.
@@chaseroach26 Mines been good for ever....just buy a good ltz not a pos
@@chaseroach26 yes the sprockets on the stock cams are pressed on,but not hot cams or web,it isn't possible for a pressed on cam sprocket to spin on the cam unless you have major problems,my ltz's have been great too me,the valves they have from the factory are junk, and poorly sealed air box and junk k&n filters that destroy the valves
Hey love the vids man can you please do a 400ex and 660r race I have a 400ex and I’m looking into getting a 660 too so just curious lol
Raptor with big 3 will smoke a 400. Stock they are pretty close. Raptors airbox is very restrictive.
The 660r is gonna smoke it. Me and my homie raced them. Both had exhaust and intake
You should get it some spacers at least for the front wheels. It’ll help a lot with stability
Did you check the swing arm skin plate that's where mine was rattling
Ah that could be it! I will check that!
He bought a 3 Wheeler
Should’ve put a new rotor on that ones heat warped I bet from that pad that was only metal and it’s gonna chew those new pads apart
Hey 2vintage, I commented on your last video and I don’t know if you seen it. But if you watch the front passenger side lower a arm you can watch something move only when you hear the rattle noise. Go to previous video and watch it were I put the time stamp. Hope it helps!
The Rattling noise could be the heat Shield on the exhaust
Enjoyed this video, could see better what you were working on. Don’t know if it’s because the light in the garage was better for it maybe.
Whatever is rattling is thin light metal, a heat shield , baffles in exhaust, some cover ?
I’m not the greatest at wheelies but one thing I did learn which helped a lot is that when you get it up try not to be choppy with the throttle try to keep it smooth it helped me maybe it will help you
Thanks for the tip!
It's the baffle or spark arrestor my buddy's trx 250x makes the same noise from that area
The rattle could be broken exhaust baffles in muffler or no copper washers between the head pipe and cylinder
Take the skid plate off. Only way to say if it is or isn’t the skid plate.
Think maybe exhaust mate by the sounds of it
You can buy skid plate foam. From motorsport or Dennis Kirk or something. Sold in sheets made for vibration I believe
My quad doesn’t have back breaks so can you give me a pair
I think those other sets of brake pads are for the front .
Yep they are, I have new pads on the front already though
Could the rattling be from the heat shield on the exhaust
My guess as well. My Warrior did the same thing
Check the Black things where you put your feet cause mine rattles cause of loose screws on the feet rest.
I got raptor 700 and for some reason it is really easy for me to plow trough the brake pads so I would recommend keeping some extras.
yooooo you need a new rear brake rotor. its just gonna eat up the new brake pads in no time
I love your vids man I’m picking up a blaster on Friday I’m 13 and exited
Awesome! Good luck with it! They are fun!
Man I’m 12 and I got a blaster about 1 year ago running great. Every time we took it on a big ride it would blow up. Then we figured out a bunch of the seals inside the cases were cracked and the case had gasket maker on it sucking in air. Good luck
Blasters are fun. Great for your age. They have a pretty smooth power delivery for a two stroke. They are powerful enough to have plenty of fun but are still safe if you know what you are doing.
@@2vintage I'm 11 with a raptor 700r bit big bhore kit and it's a 780 now
Thank u man
Those brake pads also fit on the Honda 400 and they use the same parking brake delete plate as well
You have got to do a Raptor v Banshee and Quadzilla race!
Joe , check the heat shield once again. I think that’s where the rattles coming from. Also they have you 3 pads for the front too.
Check pipes are all tight. It sounds worse under high rev may also be loose cam chain. It doesn't sound like its skipped a tooth but it does kinda sound like the chain slapping the side of case inside.
Good catch on the bolt. Is it coming from in the silencer? Exhaust heat shield? Maybe u could put thick o rings on between the frame and the skid plate. Put an oring on each bolt, maybe 2. Did that on my 250r.
And for the rattle check the exhaust heat shields or could possibly be something broke loose inside the muffler with a slight rattle to it
Check your exhaust heat shields for that rattle I could use a set of them brake pads but great show thanks a lot
great job as always! enjoying how you are making videos now! keep it up and still wannna collab!!
Hey is there a swing arm skid plate on that quad Maybe thats rattling? And check the heat shield and all the exhaust bolts
It’s the muffler clamp the connects the muffler and the pipe that’s what happened to my quad
Get the big bore jet it get a exhaust trust me did that and more to mine I hit 90 on it
Hey check all the bolts my warrior had a bolt loose down near the chain somewhere
I need rear pads very bad lol they are like yours 😂
you should check the rear skid plat under the swing arm or the exhaust bolts
Check motor mounts for rattling.
I love your voids and I could use some new breaks. But I have a 2007 Honda 400ex so those pads won't work. Keep up the great work much love from Michigan.
2 vintage u should get a motion pro tester they are a little more but way better then the cheap ones
Take the skid plate of bro and check for loose stones etc rattling on it
Now I'm worried about my valve adjustment. Gee thanks.
Seriously though Nice Video thanks 👍🙏
I had the same problem and it was a washer that fell between the skid and the frame.
I bet it is the skid plate making noise had a z-400 did the same thing get you some rubber washers and put them between the plate and the frame
leakdown test is the true way to check for any internal engine problems. compression test is not very accurate with compression releases and it doesnt tell you what is causing the low compression like the leakdown will
You do good work for a backyard mechanic
It’s is full time job. Not backyard
Well daggum
This noise comes from the rear master cylinder cover. Check it out bro!
I have a raptor 250 and if I don’t have my feet on the pegs a little plastic parts that are behind the pegs they rattle. They protect your feet from your back tires.
The black plastic foot protectors behind the peg.
So did the compression change after valve adjustment?
I think its the starter clutch if it's been replaced and wasn't tightened to spec it will sound like that good at idle and open throttle but reving it will sound like that mine had the same problem when I replaced mine
Check the oil man. Or the it kinda sounds like dry clutch noise to me. Like whan when whining. The next thing it could be is camshaft loose inside.
Maybe there’s something loose on the exhaust. Or a bolt got in the exhaust and is vibrating
Check all the exhaust bolts for the raddling or the spark arreste
You need to get a outlaw 525
Predator 500
Outlaws got more power
@@atvtrailing9401 is the outlaw a “big bore” 500 or a completely different engine
It’s a complete different engine the 500 was swapped out for the 525 because of performance and The 525 was a Ktm motor
I have a 07 Polaris outlaw 525 irs. Thing is an absolute beast. alba bar risers pro taper bars.hmf exhaust. New itp rims and some ambush tires. Thing is crazy powerful.
I don't know what gear you got on that one but I've been liking the 15 in the front and the 42 in the back
That noise sounded like sheet metal vibrating. Maybe a heat shield loose? I've heard similar noises on loose internal muffler baffles - rare but it happens.
Check you engine mount bolts they cause rattling and come loose.
I'm going with compression release.
Check heat guard on exauhst for rattle
Try tightening ur exhaust shields and try taking off the skid plate then testing it there is also a cover that goes over ur throttle cable on the carburetor try tightening that cover
Take off the skid plate and see if it still rattles
Amazon sells Raptor bolt kit, awesome to have for the 660’s 🤙🏻
Those tires grip grass really good
Pull the skid plate and see if it still makes noise. If so you can get some rubber hose the same size as your frame cut it in half and bolt the plate back up. You will need a new rotor also or you pads not going to last long
Check the front brake rotor guards for the rattling.🤷🏼♂️
I just bought a raptor 660r would love thoes brake pads
Very good build on fix it yamaha raptor 660
I expcted you to repeat the compression test after the valve clearances were fixed. Hard to achieve valid compression if valves kept open... I thought the noise was loose silencer baffles maybe.
The noise is the skid plate, had the same thing on mine. You need to get a raptor 700 next
I have a raptor 250 those break pads would be a bless :)
