  • Merry Christmas! Here's a special surprise upload! Spurrier's final victory in the Swamp comes in dominant fashion over Bobby Bowden's overmatched Seminoles, but not before Darnell Dockett decides to ruin Florida's seasom by injuring Earnest Graham. I own none of the footage in this video and claim fair use. Credit to CBS.

Title game should've been UF-Miami, but we had to watch Nebraska get slapped around. Thanks, Darnell Dockett.

UF was the only team who would've been competitive with that Miami squad. Grossman should instigate a PPV fight between him and Crouch for the Heisman he was robbed of.

I was young and dont remember much about that but I’m glad to see UF was high up and should’ve been competitive with 01 canes.

I respectfully disagree. Although UF should have faced Miami for the National Championship, the 1984 Gator team was the best team that didn't win a Championship.

I also haven't forgotten our 2 losses in 2001 have come from Auburn and Tennessee. Games that were missing Earnest Graham from the lineup. If only the game against Tennessee was played on that fateful week of 9/11. Of course it was postponed till the end of the season.

This was probably our second best team ever. These guys should've gone 12-0. That damn Auburn and Tennessee game were just one mistake after another. I think that's why Spurrier left he was so heartbroken after having the best team ever

How could we see that the 2001 season was the last time Spurrier would coach at UF? Was it true that Jeremy Foley wouldn't back Spurriers comments on Dockett twisting Graham's knee, which led to Spurrier leaving UF?

Jeremy Foley has no balls. He did not back Spurrier's criticism of Dockett's cowardess on the field. So yes, it was a factor in Spurrier leaving UF. Now that Foley is gone look at our future football out of conference opponents! We've finally stepped it up. I could never stand Foley, even when he spoke he sounded like a soy boy beta male.

What followed the 2001 season was 3 garbage years of Ron Zook. I became extremely concerned after Bob Stoops turned us down. I guess it was a blessing in disguise which led Jeremy Foley to hire Urban Meyer.

I was a bit let down with this game back then. I fully expected the Gators to put up half a hundred on them. It seems even in these highlights that Rex was pressing for that as well instead of taking what was given.

      Noah Larsen
Grossman was totally accurate enough in 2001. In fact, he got screwed out of winning the Heisman that year in favor of Eric Crouch only because the voters weren't ready to vote for a redshirt sophomore. We lost 2 games due to Earnest Graham's absence vs Auburn and Tennessee that year. Against Tennessee, Spurrier pretty much abandoned the running game late in the 1st quarter for some reason.
