Harvey, I’ve done a lots of different types of models, but have never attempted ship building, Very Well Done my friend. The closest I’ve gotten is the German 1 man Sub and the Ming Cartoon Sub and neither one of them is more than nine inches. I tip my hat and bow the the master, thanks for showing this enormous ship. Oh, and Thank You to your wife for not kicking you out over this size model!

Ha, HA! Lifeboats... I guessed correctly.
Really spectacular build, Harvey, and when you said "2800, 3000 parts" i almost threw up. That would be a magnum opus for me. I'd hang up my modeling tools after a build like that!
Loved the intro too, by the way!

Nice work, I really like your weathering, you went to the extreme end. Rigging is a challenge, you must have used the Anatomy of a Ship? I took 5 months but I work full time, Didn't weather as detailed as you and the Trumpeter instructions are lacking to say the least. Clear drying glue makes nice porthole glass ( Just a Tip ) . I built all the ships boats and launches and they make a nice side display. Very impressive work, Well done.

I know a tiny bit. Those white squares were a of type of flouresent paint to warn crew where the edges were at night. The Japanese were very adept at night fighting. The Guadalcanal campaign, the Japanese sank a ton of destroyers and cruisers and damaged the South Dakota when the electricity went out after it fired a salvo. A Japanese Battleship (im not going to butcher its name) hut the SD but the USS Washington using radar pummeled the Japanese ship and it sunk. The only time in the pacific that capitol ships "dueled". Crazy trivia? US destroyers closed in so close to the japanese battleship that the guns on her couldn't. Lower enough to hit the destroyers. As for the Yamato? My teacher in Alaska flew an avenger against her and he got a hit, not sure if it was a torpedo or bomb, but he jad a signed paper by all the crews signifying the sinking of the ship. More trivia. The Yamato was not the only ship targeted in the attack. A light cruiser was too. Light cruisers were very important to the Japanese navy. It usually was a flagship and it commanded all the destroyers. It was the Yahagi. It was sunk before the Yanato was.
