You are doing the smart thing! Two years to study up is about right. It takes that much research and brain power and repetition to get it all in your head enough to make the right decision for you. It shouldn't be so complicated; I get angry just thinking about it. That includes all insurance, not just Medicare.

G plan is great. If you qualify for the F plan, by all means grab it! I didn't. But, the G plan is excellent. I was hospitalized with severe covid for 17 days, was transferred to skilled nursing facility for 4 weeks, then home health care for 3 more weeks. After all of that care, I ended up paying $300 out of pocket. Outstanding! If I had an Advantage plan, $5000 plus any other outlying costs. I'll stay with traditional Medicare and my supplemental. ❤

@@جنجالی As a senior, and on a fixed income, id rather pay for eyeglasses than be denied an MRI. Or surgery. I have been denied a rotator cuff repair on a disability advantage plan before retirement. On a supplement, you doctor controls your testing, not the new high school grad they hired to deny claims. I just saw an ad for an insurance company for a claims denier. "No.high school diploma required." Its not a dr at the insurance company deciding if you live in pain or don't qualify for the wheelchair your doctor says you need. Gets simple. They won't pay for the good hearing aid, maybe not even bifocals? The truth is in the questions that don't get asked. Its a privilege to be able to afford a supplement, not everyone can, but insurance is for just in case. 6 days in a hospital won't bankrupt me with plan G. Its simple for me with lots of autoimmune things. Id rather have cancer treatment if I need it, than a cheap gym membership I don't use. My reasons. I get the CT scan and chemo instead of the fluff. 😊

No, Original Medicare with a supplement plan is not managed by anyone aside from your doctor and Medicare. "F" Supplemental plans are no longer available to those born after 1955. I'm not certain if there is an exception if a spouse was born previous to 1955 and the other at least 65, in which case both may be covered under Plan F. Need to confirm that.

Our Country has the worst medical care of most Countries with the worst results and the highest prices. It sucks to put it mildly. Oh, I make 18k a year, and the cost of housing in Montana is now some of the most expensive in the Country. They're going to make us all homeless or just let us stay sick. As a matter of fact, there's no reason that I couldn't be 100% rehabilitated after very serious injuries, BUT, they've also figured out that they ( the insurance companies) make more money keeping us sick. What's truly perverse apart from the capitalistic for-profit so-called health care
Is that America ties health care to having a job
When the pandemic hit and millions of Americans lost their job and their health care
Millions of workers and other countries lost their jobs but did not lose their health care
Over half of the Americans who declare a personal bankruptcy have medical insurance but can't make the bills
In countries with national health plans, nobody declares personal bankruptcy for medical bills
      Yet again

To choose a plan, first off, is to meet the needs of the individual. Advantage plans are excellent plans as well. Many people will get an Advantage plan that allows them the ability to go and stay for months in another area. Not sure when this video was made, however, it may not be up to date.

I'm in Nevada and once a year, in my birthday month, I have the opportunity to switch plans with no exam etc. I have F and love it. It's AARP United Healthcare. MY premiums are high now. They started out low , deeply discounted premium and then every year it increases until there is no discount. I'm at just under 300.00 per month and I'm sort of dreading getting my new premium notice. I was thinking of switching to G but depending on the premium by the time I pay the deductible it may not be worth it, and who knows what it will be raised to in coming years. It may, in time, become completely unaffordable.
I'm so over this stuff. Advantage plans ONLY Advantage the insurance companies. Some have been cited for denying care to patients. This was Medicare approved procedures and the companies said no. United Healthcare has some of the highest compensated executives taking out millions of dollars. United Health CEO took almost 21 million while Cigna CEO took 91 million. This was in 2022. They rake in billions. Advantage is private insurance approved and promoted by Medicare and we the taxpayers pay for it. Kind of like the privatized prison systems. Patients get less and WE pay more.

Plan N likely has healthier members than G (skin in the game, $20 & $50 copays) but the savings of $40 a month over 20 years will be overwhelmed by one cancer treatment at a specialty clinic.
Also, just a suspicion, in the future doctors may all add on that 15%.
    G or HDG seem best.

      @sammencia7945
Why would one cancer treatment at a specialty clinic wipe out the $9600 savings with Plan N vs G? To do that, the Medicare Part B approved amount for that one treatment would have to be $64,000 or more. Also, that $9600 savings assumes Plan N premiums will remain just $40 cheaper than G premiums. Most Medicare experts say the premium gap between N & G will likely widen substantially in the next 20 years and thus increase the savings with Plan N.

New patient status always takes months to get a appointment! I had a nation wide program which I was unaware that any Advantage Plans had, lucky me. But after first year here NC I received a letter from most of my Drs that they believed United Healthcare wasnt bargaining in real faith and warned me as of February I would likely not be seen anymore so I had to switch in upcoming November! Dont seem fair to the consumer to lose your healthcare when you still need to pay your premiums. Consumers are always the losers!

If your advantage plan is working out in your favor that is fantastic, we know that it can work out for the best in some cases but not for everyone. Paying that monthly premium to a supplement to ensure that you can be serviced any where in the US, and never have to endure large medical bills. It's all based on situational needs.

If you health has changed or you already have pre-existing conditions you likely wouldn't pass underwriting and would be denied that coverage.

Depending on where you are located and your health status, you can reshop for a lower rate. Sounds like it wouldn't hurt and may work in your best interest. Plan J is extremely outdated which is why your increases are higher than most. My team would be happy to assist you with your Medicare coverage. P.S. Also, from some semi-generic information I read - I thought the Advantage plans cost more? So Medicare Part A is "free" which covers hospitalizations, then Parts B, C & D are what we pay for that comes out of our Social Security checks?!? Lastly, so a Supplement plan is like acquiring insurance in the old way, say - before one turns 65? Color me "confused" 😅!!!

Can I still switch after being on an Advantage plan for 5 years? I was automatically enrolled in an Advantage plan at the start of my SSDI. What is the process to petition or apply? Thank you.

I'm on Plan G and I love it. But the premiums are getting ridiculously high and something needs to be done about them. The CEO's of these insurance companies live in the lap of luxury with their fancy homes, cars and yachts while we suffer as a result of high premiums. I can see why so many people are going to Advantage plans despite the downside from these crooks. But before I go to an Advantage plan I will downgrade to a supplemental plan where I'm paying less. My premiums have been over $200 a month for the past few months and continue to rise.

You misspoke when you said that Plan C is only available to those born before 1955. Plan C is a Medicare Advantage Plan. Any way you can update your video?

Skilled nursing stay has to be inpatient status not observation for 3 midnights. Hip and knee replacement is off the inpatient only list so hard to qualify for skilled nursing stay.

Great explanation of plans but I wish you would spend some time discussing the various providers of plan G & N. You keep stating average cost of G plan is $140.00/ month or so. I would love to get that cost. I have had a Physicians Mutual plan G since 2016 and it has been excellent but their premium goes up every year significantly and my monthly fee is double what you say is the average. Also, what needs to be discussed is switching plan G providers and the underwriting process. While I love Physicians Mutual, they are really becoming price prohibiting but I am stuck with them due to some health issues which I am sure would exclude me from switching plan providers. Would love advice on this. Thanks!
