I have nothing against Jay-Z but it was strange how he got a pass to make radio hits with no real message for about a decade but anyone else is wrong for it. Nas made a few "club songs" and he's damn near crucified. Again, nothing against Jay but some guys ( including other male rappers) be sucking him off and get mad when you don't.
I don't understand how Remy is married to somebody like him he's so arrogant and egotistical, and she's the total opposite I wonder if this is how their marriages where he's never wrong???
He's in the place he's in due to his fixed perspective and inability to even address his own weaknesses. Took eons to make one album that doesn't even justify the wait. Ebro blessed'em by tellin'em "evolve or die" but he's so locked into his own bs he can't handle it. Nobody is checkin for ya bruh and besides, what good is 360 degrees when you only look in one direction 100% of the time? Irrelevant.
Papoose may be hard headed but he was the only artist from ny that kept it real and taught us how to beat the judicial system within songs for the ones who arent or planned on getting locked up law library!!
Honestly papoose is one of the best rapper in the game he's very lyricist , freestyler , he don't rap about money and cars like all these rappers do today an if he was around when biggie was he be right next to biggie but rap has changed so much that's it's bout hits
One thing I don't like about Papoose is how hard headed, stubborn, & ignorant he can be. Dude, I can tell u 4 myself that u have PLENTY weaknesses & that's just fine. We're all human, no one's perfect. But u can't evolve, nor elevate in the slightest if u ignore those weaknesses instead of realizing them & working on improving them. Papoose is nice, but there are plenty underground mc's that will shit on him because he ain't perfect no matter how much he thinks he is.
Pap is the most deluded person . He is so full of himself to the extent he blinds himself to his feelings & opinion as fact. Subjective reality isn't objective reality.
I actually agree with what he's saying though Jay-Z isn't an extreme lyricist and its even sadder that we make artists feel forced to say they like certain artists this is music not a cult.
They weren't going in on him. Papoose was just incapable of understanding the what Ebro was trying to saying. Like what he was saying was good lmao it's like he blocked out the good intentions and was just too stubborn!
@Łåžåř Ïłĩĉ Jay Z is in my top 5. He's one of the GOATS with great Rhyme schemes and metaphors. My top 5 is Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Andre 3000, Kendrick Lamar and Joey Badass

You're right, and I've been saying that same thing for years. Papoose got a lot of growing up to do. Guys like him never evolve and they wonder why their careers stay stagnate and never progress. And I find it absolutely hilarious that he views himself as the American Dream,...lmao
no rapper is apposed to think they're weak, Ebro was apposed to re-word it as where do you need to "IMPROVE". papoose is right, jay-z lyrically is alright, he just surrounded himself with the right people, right beats and production
Wow any dude that think pap is trash really dont know hip hop...dude got flow for days and id more lyrically talented then any emcee out except eminem...you really have to be smart and have a genuine love to understand a rapper like pap because dude is amazing...we in commercial times so people only care about the quick buck and a tuff beat vs great lyrics and speaking from the heart like pap does...thats why dudes never understood him...but i guarentee every rapper is shook n would never battle
papoose speaks the truth. Granted, nobody likes weaknesses but every emcee has areas they can improve in and others they can experiment with. in '96 Jay-Z lyricism was elevating. In the evolved Hip Hop jungles, now Jay-z is Aight! like 50 cent great songwriters but lyricist??? there not top 5 lyricist
k2datrack I agree with you 100 percent. If we having a conversation of great lyricists who contain all the attributes of an amazing lyrical rapper, Jay doesn't fit in. Pap is right.
Any critique of art is inconsequential because art has to grow and be different so you cant criticize something that is intangible and has no peers such as the idea of art, you can say you don't like it and that's a valid opinion but it holds no bearing on the finished project whatever it may be. When art is forced to conform and take on other peoples influence into that it is no longer art and has become a mass produced commodity.
thinking too hard can hurt you when it comes to appealing to the masses papoose is a prime example of that...its nothing wrong wit being witty and matuer with your flow but he really over does it
What Pap was saying is that Jay-Z can RHYME, but his SUBJECT MATTER is TRIVIAL. And it IS. Pap is 100% correct. What does jay-Z rap about these days? Can YOU relate to what Jay-Z raps about? How many people can actually relate to what Jay-Z raps about? Do people like his music because they can actually RELATE to his lyrics, or because he's STYLISH, confident (arrogant), and has good beats?
Pap is just to real. They tryin to tell him he need to change his subjects in his rhymes. He has his own mind God didn't create nothing weak. Papoose keep growing up you a real Man. They gonna try to break him down dumb down his style.
When youre dope you can BE arrogant. The issue isnt with him; its with the Industry itself. Your skill level should dictate your success, and clearly it doesnt.
The problem with ya'll is you don't realize that today's environment is everyone is trying to be an A&R. Rappers are taught to use a template for creating rap music. Papoose wants to be himself, that's why he saying he already is who he is. The greatest feat is to be yourself in a world where everyone wants you to be someone else - Aristotle

@@antonklokk he ain't wrong I've never really felt anything when i listen to jay either never really understood the appeal. Pap is the better rapper listen to alphabetical slaughter A-Z that track is enough to prove pap is one of the best lyrisis living right now
Being arrogant is what being a rapper is about now a days, BUT being realistic is what makes someone successful
Thought her boots was a dog just chillin, til about 3 mins in...
Pap been baiting Jay for his entire career and Jay never responded.
Pap is the best i ever heard in my life.
Kendrick : Takes in critic, humbles himself, finds his weaknesses = 3 classic projects and a good mixtapes!
Papoose : doesn't take critic, no weaknesses ( sarcasm ) , and never humble = No classic, good mixtapes, 1 great album .......
Kendrick >> Papoose.... See what im gettin at...
+Teyana Turner kendrick is a bitch aint on pap level never will be
Papoose is definitely a better lyricist... No question.... Kendrick is a better artist :)
Teyana Turner cuz hes more appealing to white people
No lol ....Kendrick does appeal but he definitely appeal to black people to ......GKMC pretty much deals with alot of problems from the ghetto and how it affects the youth .... Kendrick does appeal on a wider scope than Papoose but he still talks about problems within black communities :)
+C TPAB isn't appealing to white people at all.
does Pap have a hit.. or a Album
I dont like ebro but i have to side with him here. Papoose your logic is flawed you cant say that just because a critic cant rhyme like you they dont have a right to criticize you. thats bullshit because im pretty sure Cus D'mato couldnt punch like Mike Tyson but with Cus' criticism and coaching he helped make Tyson the world champion. Someone who cant rhyme worth for shit can also be a huge hip hop head who listens to KRS1 Kool G Rap Rakim Big Daddy Kane ect and know how to help you be a better rapper. You gotta learn how to take criticism son
You might not understand his skills if you don’t understand how his is rhyming. So if you are not on his level you might not see the skill.
What's the interviewers name next to Pap?
I have nothing against Jay-Z but it was strange how he got a pass to make radio hits with no real message for about a decade but anyone else is wrong for it.
Nas made a few "club songs" and he's damn near crucified. Again, nothing against Jay but some guys ( including other male rappers) be sucking him off and get mad when you don't.
I agree but the difference is jay z sounds more comfortable on a radio song while nas tryna make hits sounded forced and unnatural
+Andre Terry your dumb
Nas said himself that he couldn't make club records. He sounded fine on the radio though.
Shocker Smooth you're dumb
Hov got harshly bashed for it Wachu Talkin bout willis??? Sunshine ring à bell. Hov just made better songs that appealed to the masses than Nas.
Papoose was right about Jay and off base about everything else in this interview. I think that pretty much sums everything up.
Cipha killed Wackpoose w/ the god talk.
LOL
Cipha ain't no God. He's an agent. Just like Ibro and Rosenberg. He didn't kill Pap on shit
Kimathi Arnold Agent or not- Pap didn't have anything valid to say after Cipha broke his wisdom down. Period
Pap is annoying lol
That's all pride. Too much pride to be able to say "I'm not great at writing a catchy hook" is pathetic. Have integrity, not pride
Obviously Jay has been exponentially more successful in the rap game than Pap but lyrically Papoose is better than Jay-Z.
Pap is better then jay z lmfao
They weren't going in on him. Papoose was just incapable of understanding the what Ebro was trying to saying. Like what he was saying was good lmao it's like he blocked out the good intentions and was just too stubborn!
Papoose is a joker...no wonder why he fell off...Ebro good on you for tryna get thru to him lol smh
"I was who i was before i came here" [Public service announcement]
Muthafkcer just said Jay-Z is alright and then he's quoting HOV. Man take a seat.
Jay is not top 5!
@Łåžåř Ïłĩĉ Jay Z is in my top 5. He's one of the GOATS with great Rhyme schemes and metaphors.
My top 5 is Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Andre 3000, Kendrick Lamar and Joey Badass
her furry boots keep making me think there's a dog on the floor,,
Pap is def top 5 dumbest rappers allive
hes definitely an extremely smart and talented individual watch his montreality interview
And you're sitting here making comments on UA-cam acting like a dumbass
NO !
obvoiusly not dumb, just ignorant
Why because he don't bow down to the corporatocracy?
Real God body. No sell out zone Pap tell these lames, FUCK your corporation nigga. Corporate slaves at hot97 try'na tell a freeman something.GTFOH.
lol notice: No where in my comment did I compare Jay to Papoose. I was simply referring to the fact that Papoose isnt listening to anything anyone is tryna say. He's speaking over everybody else.
Has you ever listen to "Reasonable Doubt "?
You're right, and I've been saying that same thing for years. Papoose got a lot of growing up to do. Guys like him never evolve and they wonder why their careers stay stagnate and never progress. And I find it absolutely hilarious that he views himself as the American Dream,...lmao
no rapper is apposed to think they're weak, Ebro was apposed to re-word it as where do you need to "IMPROVE". papoose is right, jay-z lyrically is alright, he just surrounded himself with the right people, right beats and production
Wow any dude that think pap is trash really dont know hip hop...dude got flow for days and id more lyrically talented then any emcee out except eminem...you really have to be smart and have a genuine love to understand a rapper like pap because dude is amazing...we in commercial times so people only care about the quick buck and a tuff beat vs great lyrics and speaking from the heart like pap does...thats why dudes never understood him...but i guarentee every rapper is shook n would never battle
hot97 is owned by who?
papoose speaks the truth.
DONT LET NOBODY CHANGE YOU!!! I FUKS WITH POOSE!!
Pap is the future of hip hop. He is a legend in this game
k2datrack I agree with you 100 percent. If we having a conversation of great lyricists who contain all the attributes of an amazing lyrical rapper, Jay doesn't fit in. Pap is right.
You don't know what I realize. That's my opinion, I'm sticking with it
Any critique of art is inconsequential because art has to grow and be different so you cant criticize something that is intangible and has no peers such as the idea of art, you can say you don't like it and that's a valid opinion but it holds no bearing on the finished project whatever it may be. When art is forced to conform and take on other peoples influence into that it is no longer art and has become a mass produced commodity.
Jay-Z is a great lyricist. 1996-2003 being his prime but even today Jigga still drops mad metaphors.
thinking too hard can hurt you when it comes to appealing to the masses papoose is a prime example of that...its nothing wrong wit being witty and matuer with your flow but he really over does it
What Pap was saying is that Jay-Z can RHYME, but his SUBJECT MATTER is TRIVIAL.
Was this supposed to be an interview?
The reason he didn't blow wasn't because of his talent he's not the only artist who didn't blow because he wouldn't sale out.
They titled this "Jay-Z is Aight" because they couldn't title it "Papoose can't take criticism".
WHY TF R THEY GIVING PAPOOSE AN INTERVENTION. SMH. THE HATE IS REAL YALL EVEN W LUV. IF YA KNO YA KNO
whats that beat in the background from?
NO ONE CAN CHANGE A PERSON OR MAKE A PERSON BETTER ONLY THE PERSON CAN MAKE HIMSELF OR HERSELF BETTER REAL TALK
You aren't supposed to listen to what everybody else says you are just supposed to hear it.
What I find amusing is that people are focusing on one little tidbit of the interview and ignore what was going on.
pap dont give them another interview
It's always an argument on hot 97 🤣
Pap is just to real. They tryin to tell him he need to change his subjects in his rhymes. He has his own mind God didn't create nothing weak. Papoose keep growing up you a real Man. They gonna try to break him down dumb down his style.
When youre dope you can BE arrogant. The issue isnt with him; its with the Industry itself. Your skill level should dictate your success, and clearly it doesnt.
Jay-Z would body this nigga!
Various anthropologists and sociologists have used the term Nacirema to examine-with a degree/pretense of anthropological self-distancing-aspects of the behavior and society of citizens of the United States of America. The original use of the term was in Body Ritual among the Nacirema, which satirizes anthropological papers on "other" cultures, and the culture of the United States. Horace Miner wrote the paper and originally published it in the June 1956 edition of American Anthropologist. -wiki
Jay is nice he can make a commercial record and still spit with the best of them
Papoose is too proud, this will deter him from shining again. Stay humble Pap!
Top rule in the art of war never give away your weakness and always strive to have none. Peace
If Papoose was so perfect as an artist as he thinks, he wouldn't be dead ass cold in the game
true i feel jay is the best though because he kept his style when other artists switched up to try to adapt to whats in now he stayed true to himself and managed to hold his own today while the music industry has changed a lot. he's also branched out in different areas and he may rap about different things than he did when he first started but he's matured since then. and for sure like you said from a business stand point as a rap artist hes unstoppable
This didn’t age well. Jay definitely changed his style the way you said he didn’t.
@@seanharris140 ya this was 10 years ago lol I was young I learned way more about Jay than I knew at this time
@@DomBrownONLINE Lol. You know when I went to type this I looked up and was like 10 years ago, I can’t really be mad at dude. Lol. But yeah. Jay ain’t Jay no more. Lol. And this ain’t even like a maturity thing so you respect it. Dude just can’t rap like that no more. Papose was right. Lol.
@@seanharris140 i wouldn’t say he can’t rap no more but I was definitely wrong about switching styles. I think when I made this comment I was referring to the autotune and trap stuff cause it was blowing up
