A real slice of my childhood and my adult passion collide with this utterly wonderful Goldfinger Aston from the German toymaker. Just a joy for budding little Bonds and big kids, alike!

I got the car first and then looked for a video like this and so discovered this channel. I must say this Playmobil set blew me away. It fits with the other Playmobil cars, but it somehow looks much better. That's not just because DB5s are pretty, it's also the paint finish. Beautiful. This does not come across well on video.

Hi, there. I’m a 48y brazilian guy, married and father of a boy. It also happens that I’m a HUGE James Bond fan. Not to mention how much I loved playing with my Playmobils in the 80’s. Your video goes right through my heart, because it brings me such a nostalgic feeling hard to define writing in english, which obviously is not my mother tongue. Suffice to say I’ve just bought this set online right now after watching this! Well, thank you so much for this lovely unboxing. I totally agree how cool it is.

I was born in 1973 and, Playmobil being my favourite toy, I had/have ( now in storage for the next gen) about everything they made. When this came out, I couldn't help buying it right away. As a Bond fan from childhood, I would absolutely have loved this back then. As an adult with another not so grown-up hobby of collecting 1/18 scale models, I still love it and proudly display it on top my display case of Aston Martins. While those are much better replicas of the real cars, they are far too delicate and expensive to play with. The Playmobil DB5 may be a toy that has already stood the test of a bit of a wild car chase with my five-year-old niece and a Playmobil police Porsche, but yet displays remarkably well so close to AUTOart's DB5. It's very much 1/18 scale and captures the shape really well. If you want Bond to have a gun, I recommend giving him a Playmobil police pistol and glue a "silencer" (some bit of Q-tip ... excuse the pun... tubing in gun metal paint) to its barrel. Looks cool!
I've got the AUTOart DB% (as well as the both Lotus Esprits, signed by Caroline Munro "Naomi", from The Spy Who Loved Me), and they have got the proportions just right! I love the Playmobil Porsche 911, which I would have loved as a child. I hope they do more Bond cars- Aston V8, Lotus Esprit....

I bought myself one of these and its great fun, even though it lives in a display case. I was a bit suprised that Bond doesn't have his PPK but that's just a small grumble. Hopefuly they bring out some more Bond sets, like they have with Back to the future. Extra characters or a set of different Bonds? I'm also secretly hoping they make the Spy who love me Lotus.

Brilliant vid. Thank you. You're absolutely right. From the moment I saw this version, I much preferred it over the Lego one. Playmobil keeps that lovely DB5 shape better. (Not to mention all those moving parts & figures). I'm more a fan of the Lotus Esprit but as this has just gone down to £40 in Smyths Toys, I might just go & buy it today.
You won't regret it! It's great fun. Now when are the Esprit and Aston V8 coming out.....

I have both the kego and playmobil versions and prefer the playmobile version as it shows the db5s lines to perfection whereas the lego version is too boxy and makes the db5 look like something you'd see in a minecraft game.
Absolutely! The DB5 is a work of art, and LEGO ruined it!

I bought the Ghostbusters set in LEGO for my wife! But Playmobil is cooler, in my humble opinion. I'll have to check out all of their sets!

I think the wheels really let down the whole car, they look so plasticy compared to the rest of the car!
I do agree. They could have done a better treatment for the Borrani wire wheels, but I suppose that they had to consider young kids bashing them around, so had to be durable. It's a shame, though, for us "grown-ups"!

Fun review but the constant putting down of the Lego version got tedious. The Lego version is amazing and great fun to build, that’s the whole point of it you build it and feel pride in the end result no pride in this as its just injection melded.
Each to his own, my friend. Sorry for being so harsh on the LEGO version. Its aesthetics, as an Aston fan, just jar too much for me.
